The Unofficial "Big Lots" Exchange Thread

The purpose of this thread is to facilitate trades for the discs that have been showing up at Big Lots stores across the country, as seen in this thread. As with the similar Criterion Collection Exchange thread, this thread only deals with specific titles, the ones that people are finding for $2.00 to $4.99 at Big Lots.

Post #135 by Ken Cline contains a periodically updated list of titles that have been found so far.

There are specific titles I have been unable to locate at my local stores, which is why I decided to start this thread. It may not be worth it to some people to spend around $2.00 in postage to trade for $2.00 titles, but I'm sure it will be worth it to others, so please avoid making comments along those lines. Thanks!

Thanks for starting this thread, printerati. I'm planning a weekly visit tomorrow (Tuesday, 27th) and I'll see if I can come up with your wants.

Good move printerati. I was thinking about this last night.

I just so happened to have picked up an extra Tube this weekend. I knew someone wanted one.

I too am looking for Beijing Bicycle & Monsieur Ibrahim. I've got almost everything already listed, but am willing to pickup titles for others. At some BLs I'm seeing quite a few duplicates of what I already have, and even several copies of the same title.

So noted, Ken. I recall seeing multiples of quite a few titles locally. I'll check the thread again before heading out tomorrow morning.

Ken, anything you need for that Tube?

abintra, I saw multiple copies of Raising Victor Vargas yesterday, and the store I'm hitting tonight had multiple copies of Returner and Passionada last week. Let me know what you have available, and we'll work something out.

doc, thanks for taking a look.

I don't have any duplicates of any of the titles and about the only one I recall seeing still available at a Big Lots near me was Spider. Don't really have anything else to trade for them.

I already own Spider. What about PayPal? I could do all three for $10 shipped, assuming I can still find all three.

abintra,

I saw extra copies of Zhou Yu's Train, Crush, Raising Victor Vargas (if printerati can't get it) this past weekend.

I may hit another BL tonight, not sure yet - one I haven't been to in a while. They have a lot of DVDs.

BTW, what's the going rate for media mail these days?

Ken, I did a rough estimate on USPS.com, and it looks like Media Mail is a little over $2.00 for three discs to either coast from my location. I always forget about that option since I just send stuff First Class by default.

That's not bad at all. I knew it was the cheapest method since I used to use it many years ago.

Guys, I am sorry to report that the Big Lots has been almost completely wiped out. I didn't find a thing on either of your lists, although I'm pretty sure I can still snag Vargas for abintra at another store. I will be heading over there tomorrow.

If that's the case, perhaps we can work out a three-way trade, assuming abintra has one of the titles that Ken is looking for.

printerati & Ken Cline.. Apologies for the delay in responding and thank you both for the kind offers.

I might be interested in going the Paypal route if someone has access to a few of the titles, not so much for just one such as Raising Victor Vargas since I have seen it before and it is the bare bones release.

Oh, USPS lists the media mail rates here.. http://www.usps.com/rates/media-mail-rates.htm I believe they are going up sometime in late April or May though.

Well, yesterday's BL was a bust - nada, zilch, zero.

I may stop by 2 more BL today. I'll keep you posted.

abintra, not a problem. I'll let everyone know if I find anything tonight. I may also poke my head into the Dollar General in the same plaza. 2/$6 isn't $2, but I'm willing to spend the extra buck if I have to.

Ken, if I can't find anything on your list, I can send PayPal/check/money order/whatever for Tube. Let me know.

Edited to say that all of the movies below have been spoken for.

I have 1 each of:

Quitting
Respiro
The Red Dwarf
Mifune
The Vertical Ray of the Sun
Innocence

I don't really need any in trade, but if anyone wants them for cost plus shipping, I would be willing to send them out. They were all 2.00 each.

Today was a good day, much better than yesterday.

printerati,

Got Beijing Bicycle for you, and of course Tube is yours too.

abintra,

Got you Crush, Returner, Red Dwarf, Passionada and Zhou Yu's Train. If you don't want all of them it's OK, but since I saw them I grabbed 'em

I also picked up some that I wanted...

- Beijing Bicycle
- The Red Dwarf
- The Devil Commands
- Big Girls Don't Cry
- The Man Without A Past
- Monsieur Ibrahim
- Joe And Max
- Quitting

Oh, I picked up another copy of Spider if anyone needs one.

And, I picked up Harry Potter Azkaban and Sin City for myself @ $5 each.

I guess PayPal will be the way to go since I found most of what I wanted. I still need Mifune, New Best Friend and Respiro.

Let me know what you want to do.

abintra, I picked up extra copies of Raising Victor Vargas and Zhou Yu's Train. They're yours if you want them for an even $6, which will more or less cover the two discs and Media Mail shipping.

Ken, great news! Let me know how much you need for the two discs, and I'll PayPal you A.S.A.P. You can reach me via e-mail through my profile.
