Philip Hawley, Jr.'s STIGMA

Philip Hawley's Stigma is the best thriller debut I've read in a long time. Plenty of action, good characters, interesting plot... It's got everything you'd want in a book of this type.

I especially recommend it for fans of Michael Crichton and James Rollins. It's just been released as a paperback original, so it's only 8 bucks. (I know how cheap we all are on here.)

If anyone else has read it, I'd love to hear what you think.

I picked this one up a couple of weeks ago. Looks like a great read, but I probably won't get to it for a few weeks.

Anyone heard of the limited edition copy that came out late last year?

The only other edition I'm aware of is the ARC (advanced reading copy). But I wouldn't really call that a limited edition.

Are you sure you're not thinking of a different book?

I haven't read it (or heard of it for that matter), but will pick it up based on your recommendation.

I've been meaning to pick this up since reading about it on your blog - I enjoyed the 10 questions interview you did with Hawley. I'm looking forward to reading it based on the great things I've heard.

Actually, I misread it. On the copyright page, it states there was a special Avon printing. That's what I was interested in.

Good question. I just read that, too. I'll see what I can find out.

I asked the publicist about that Avon special printing, and she said she thinks it's just referring to the galley (aka ARC). Although it's strange to note that on the copyright page, she didn't know what else it would be. There haven't been any other trade editions.

Hmmm, sounds odd to refer to a prepub like that, but that's cool. Thanks for hunting the information down.

By the way, nice quotes on the cover, David! Are you often blurbed like that?

Not often enough.

My reviews are frequently blurbed, but they usually don't include my name. In this case, I gave a pre-publication blurb, which I've only done a few times.
