One Step Beyond 8 dvd set....is it worth it?
Has anyone seen this show? Would it be worth shelling out 15 plus tax for the 8 disc set? Is it a comparable show to the Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits?

The picture quality is terrible on this release, but I'm enjoying watching the old shows. It's kind of a Twilight Zone-type thing, but the stories are all supposed to be based on accounts of actual incidents. In my opinion it was worth the very reasonable price.

The best route to go with this show is the 12 disc set from Delta(49 episodes) complimented with the 2 disc set from VCI(12 episodes). There are 4 or 5 duplicates between the two sets so you get a total of 56 or 57 episodes. All the other discs out there duplicate what are on these two sets. You may want to try the VCI 2 disc first to see if you like the show. I've had these sets awhile but haven't even cracked the shrinkwrap yet so can't speak of the video quality, but I'm not expecting a whole lot. Haven't seen the show in years. Used to be on all the time when I was a kid. I do remember the production values are lower than TZ or OL. I remember the stories being similar to the TZ episodes "Twenty-Two" and "Nightmare as a Child"
Another show to check out is THE VEIL. Image has a 2 disc set with all 10 episodes. Boris Karloff is the host and stars in just about every one. The set also has 2 episodes of a show called 13 Demon Barber Street with Lon Chaney Jr. as the host. Picture quality is great on this set.

The quality of that 8 disc set isn't so hot, but IMO certainly worth $15.

At around $2 per disc, I'd say it's worth it. Of course it depends on the image quality.
But I'm an old OSB type of guy. Loved this show as a kid, even preferring it to the original TZ.
On TZ you always knew Rod (like any good storyteller) was pulling your leg with a good yarn, but the demeanor of OSB's John Newland always gave OSB episodes (based on true stories of the odd, unusual, paranormal or Fortean-type phenomena) an air of strait-laced believable authenticity.
I still find the OSB theme music to be kind of creepy.

I picked it up tonight at Sam's for 14.52+tax. There are 8 discs in total that come in a flimsy but decent box. There are 33 episodes that run over 13 hours in total. The video quality isn't great, but I still believe that it is better than the sole release of Meet the Feebles on dvd. I hope this helps and you get a hold of a copy.
