Is another release of Kind Hearts and Coronets really needed? I realize I don't have to replace my Alec Guinness collection release, but it would be nice of Criterion to focus their restorative talents elsewhere...
Definitely good news on the Renoir and Welles, however.

Unless "Kind Hearts and Coronets" has some significant extras (which doesn't seem extremely likely, considering the lower price,) I don't really feel the need to replace my current version, even though I love the movie. The picture quality is already quite nice, in my opinion. Of course for those who don't already own the movie, this should be a no-brainer.

Totally agree. I just happened to watch this again last week - what a terrific movie!

Yeah, I was excited about KIND HEARTS for about a millisecond, until I saw the price. That usually indicates pretty minimal extras -- not sure how they will really talk me into shelling out to 'upgrade' my existing Anchor Bay without significant extras. Maybe the picture will blow me away, who knows. They certainly improved upon Anchor Bay's Man Who Fell to Earth, and I would have said that transfer was difficult to beat too.
Major kudos for Mr. Arkadin -- I've been waiting for this since they started releasing DVDs!

excited about Mr. Arkadin and Le Bete Humaine. I will definitely get both. Rumor has it that Mr. Arkadin will include at least two cuts of the movie. One of them should be the one from the Criterion LD.
