Clooney suicidal?

Headline grabbing sensationalism perhaps?

'Syriana' does look interesting, albeit a bit derivitive.

That's a pretty stellar cast though.

(Yeah I know this film preview has been linked here before, but the thrust of the post is the first article. Please forgive....)

If he was going to kill himself, he would have done it after Batman & Robin.

“It’s probably the worst year personally I have ever had. My brother-in-law died of a heart attack aged 45, my grandma fell, broke her hip and died this summer. And my dog got attacked by a rattlesnake and killed,” he said.
Wow. That is a pretty bad year.

There's a huge difference between being depressed and having a bad year and being suicidal. (Trust me, I've been depressed since Bush got elected) I think the reporter blew Clooney's statements out of proportion. In fact, Clooney seems like one of the few celebs who doesn't take his fame too seriously and has his head screwed on straight.

Yeah, its a bit of a strech to say he was really thinking of killing himself when all he said was
“Before the surgery it was the most unbearable pain I’ve ever been through, literally where you’d go, ‘well, you’ll have to kill yourself at some point, you can’t live like this.’
He's talking in the second person, not personally.

Make that into a country song & he's got a #1 hit.

Ha, I thought that "depressed since Bush got elected" was a Clooney comment. Wow.

I can't believe he would forego painkillers because pill addiction is in his family. I wouldn't care at about that all. Give me pills, if I get addicted I'll go to rehab, whatever to stop the pain.

But all in all, this is Clooney just asking for an Oscar.

At least he's not depressed since Bush got elected.

How is him passing on pain pills because he is afraid of becoming addicted going to result in him getting an Oscar? The Academy is shallow, but not stupid.

The whole worst year of life, I'm gonna kill myself thing is asking for an Oscar.

It sounds like you didn't even read the article; I don't understand your point. If all that shit happened to me in one year, I would be a bit depressed too, except Clooney never said anything about killing himself because of it.

I did read the article. He's baiting. He's letting the world know how shitty his life has been for publicity. If he had said something like "It's been rough" and left it at that, I'd have no problem. He went into detail about all his problems, looking for the sympathy vote. That's just my opinion.

You really think people are going to go see a movie or two because an actor has had a personal bad year? This is the first time I've heard any of this information mentioned, so it isn't like he is just going around spreading this sob story to get this so-called "sympathy vote."

I don't even know why I am still arguing with you about this; it is such a stupid comment to begin with.

What do you think he thinks he's gonna win an Oscar for? Best Director?

He's not even gonna get nominated.

Peter Finch did the same thing back in 1976 when he died...he knew it would get him the Oscar!

The Studio could always offer refunds if people did not like the movie. I hear that worked well this year for a certain boxing movie.

Best part of the article?

Brad Pitt spent months turning himself into the Greek hero Achilles for the film Troy — and then tore his left Achilles tendon.

Ever think that just maybe the guy doesn't have a problem expressing how he feels ,and is just open about it. Clooney's always been a straight shooter, not afraid to just say whatever is on his mind. I know we live in a cynical age but gheez damned if you do, damned if you don't...I think he's refreshing compared to your average hollywood type.
