Desperate Housewives 10-23-05

Guess there's not much anticipation for tonight. Looks like we might get a bit more about the man in the basement. It also looks like Edie is filling in for Lynette as part of the four friends storyline.

What did the son just say to Alfre's character about "executing him"? We had a little 13-month old catch us off-guard w/out the closed-captioning. Thanks.

something like:

"The authorities won't care how slow he is--they'll just execute him."

An okay ep. It was interesting to see Marcia Cross more or less resurrect Crazy Kim from Melrose Place for a little bit, and that she will be letting her hair down again; she looked smokin hot in next week's preview.
I also appreciate any opportunity to see Wallace Shawn nowadays. My guess is that Caleb will become a Boo Radley of sorts for Wisteria Lane and eventually save somone important's life.

It's amazing what they can do with CGI these days -- Susan's scenes with the late Wallace Shawn looked as real as any scene with living actors.

I liked the Wallace Shawn appearance, too.

But Gabby's sub-plot continues to be the most amusing.

thanks, GuessWho.

I know she was upset, but the cemetary scene seemed wayyyyy too over the top and very out of character for Bree.

Aren't you thinking of Dick Shawn?

Anyhow, I think this was a better episode than the past few episode. Lynette really knows how to liven up the place when she puts her mind to it. The amount of disgust on Susan's face after Lonnie busted a move was great.

Wallace Shawn wasn't completely CGI. They used a body double, and scenes from "Princess Bride 2" that were filmed before the accident.

Not the greatest episode. Glad to see Paul back at the end, looks like things will pick up in the next couple episodes.

The couples therapy session in jail was hilarious

"I'll backhand you myself"

Lynette going into MILF mode at the bar was good as well.

Is the son (or whoever he is) in the basement supposed to be mentally ill? It seems obvious, especially when she referred to him as "slow" and how he went back down into the basement when he could have escaped. I was only half-watching so I wasn't sure if anything more about him was mentioned in another part of the episode. Ya know, besides the fact that he killed someone.

I can't help but think of Grand Nagus Zek whenever I hear that voice.

"Get off me, you Amazon!"

Wallace Shawn was great in this (...and is apparently in next week's episode too ).

I really liked this episode. Much better than the previous ones.

I actually thought that Zach was in the house when I noticed the mail was gone, thought he was being sneaky and just wanted to see Julie. Was real suprised to see it was Paul.

How dense can Bree be? She has got to start putting the clues together in her defense. She needs to stop dwelling on the fact she is a suspect. She needs to start looking at who had the best reason for doing away with Rex.

Actually looking forward to next week's episode, haven't felt that way all season.

I never thought I would have an ending ruined by the "episode recap" that starts every episode, but that's exactly what happened on this subject.

Quite frequently, the "previously on" segments can spoil the episode. In particular if they show a character that hasn't been on for a while.

Paul!?! I wasn't paying complete attention. I thought it was Mike who had taken in the mail and was reviewing it.

What's up with the talk about Wallace Shawn, CGI, body doubles, and scenes from old movies? Did he die or something?

And yes, it was Paul who was back in his old home, picking up the mail.
