$4.88 Universal DVDs at Walmart

Just got back from the Walmart in Sacramento (Truxel Road, if anybody lives there), and they had a huge display of Universal titles. No price display anywhere, but I had them check, and all were $4.88. I remember:

Kull the Conquerer
Rocky + Bullwinkle (DeNiro)
Dudley Do-Right
Frances the Talking Mule (4-pack collection)
The Watcher
Bulletproof
Somewhere in Time
Dragon: Bruce Lee
Reality Bites (10th Ann)
Mask: Director's Cut
Duel
1941
Nurse Betty
Spy Game
Ma + Pa Kettle (4-pack collection)
Man on the Moon
The Musketeer
Tremors
Tremors 4
Kiss Before Dying

and a whole bunch of others that I don't remember. They were in a big Universal display exactly like the recent Warner + New Line ones, so I would expect this to be national.

Also, Dragonslayer + Hollywood Homicide were in the $5.50 bin.

Needless to say, I spent $75, and will be going back for more.

I hope this is true for the Wal-Mart near me, 'cause I'll be picking up The Mask and Duel.

Side note after opening mine...I don't know what's up with the quality control on these. Duel had no disc inside, Mask's insert was in upside-down, and Dragon had one of those clear plastic pieces that they stick coupons and stuff to, but it was attached to the keepcase itself, inside the shrinkwrap. Why that would happen, I don't know. The rest were okay, though.

I'm going to check the Wal-Mart here in Crescent city tommorow. Sounds like some decent deals.

Do you still live in Eureka or are you in Sac now? You're the closest person I've seen to me on any dvd boards.

It's Mask. The Mask is a New Line title.

Saw this display at my local Wal-Mart Friday night and snatched 2 copies of the OOP Fletch DVD. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. I also remember seeing Weird Science as well for anyone interested.

Universal DVDs? No telling how long they will work in your players, assuming they don't already have problems.

Duel was a made-for-TV movie so it's supposed to be full screen.

I went through some of my old Universal titles bought in '99 and 00 and havent found one with a problem. I have had some problems with their "franchise" titles though. The 2 wm I went to this weekend did not have any universal 4.88 titles.

Yeah, I just picked up "Man In The Moon", "October Skies", and " Cape Fear (1962)" at the Walmart on Keeaumoku St. Nothing I would have bought at regular prices, but for $4.88 each I can afford to watch them then file them away.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent?
