There isn't really a 'correct' way to do it - there are multiple ways that work depending on your room and equipment. What's right for one person's setup isn't always right for someone else's.
I'd suggest posting details of your system, room, etc, and someone can surely give you some feedback.

I have my cc on top of my TV, but I also have the back propped up with a couple rubber door stops to angle the sound downward a little more.

My front setup looks like this, with the CC also angled down towards the viewers on the couch.
Unfortunately, I don't have much room for my rear right or rear left speakers.

I've never understood why people need so many pieces of equipment like that.

He's got it all listed on his site, just click the link in the sig. Nice amps.
You'd hate mine, Mike. My Monster HTS2000 power strip with 12 outlets isn't enough. Had to add an HTS80. And I don't even have separate amps, yet.

- Front's L&R about 7' - 7" apart
Right Side Surround
Left Side Surround
- Located approx. 3' back from my 'sweet spot', 6' off the floor, and facing each other across the HT/family room.
Rear Center Channel
- 8' off the floor and approx. 5' - 1-1/2" apart - slightly tilted down, and facing the front wall.
Click here for an overhead 20' x 30' HT/family room view.

Samsung SIR-T165 HDTV tuner/1080i upconverter
Philips 642 DVD player - mainly for playing Xvid files easily
JVC XV-S65GD DVD player - mainly for all-region, PAL->NTSC playback
Panasonic RP91 - main DVD player
ReplayTV #1
Outlaw 950 pre/pro
Panasonic VCR
ReplayTV #2
Pioneer D704 LD player
Harman Kardon PA5800 5-channel amp
I've only added the Philips 642 player recently, everything else has been in the setup for around 2 years if not longer.

Sorry I don't have pics, but I'll give a description of my setup. My TV room is relatively small (about 12' x 18'), with 18' as the "width". The front speaker is on top of the television, roughly a foot above ear level. The remaining four speakers are at the corners of the room (at ear level), pointed at roughly a 45 degree angle towards the center of the room. I'd like to get some wall mounts at some point, but this works out pretty good in the meantime.

Where did you get that Iron Giant figurine? That's awesome!
Put a coin in his hand, press the white rectangle button just below his feet on the base (bottom center), ... his eyes lights up, right knee raises a little, his left arm and hand moves to his opening mouth, swollows the coin (the best is $0.25 cents), ... say's 1 of three phrases from the movie and returns to what you see!!!
Yep - really cool!!!
Thanks for asking Justin,
Phil
