Once more: Back to the Future
I take it the fixed versions are still not in stores?
Also, are they still offering replacements? What's the number? I guess best thing is to order from DDD with 20% off and replace...

I've seen the fixed version in stores in canada (Im assuming they were the fixed version since they had that green "remastered" sticker on the back).
But you dont want these ones since they have bilingual covers (and probably one of the worst bilingual covers Ive ever seen).

Do a search few topics on this.

I just ordered mine from DDD (but yet to get it). So I did a search and found these threads.

Seriously though, the mis-framing is not that bad IMHO.

I called for the prepaid mailer and then ordered BTTF (during previous 20% sale from DDD).
When the set came I took out the 1st 2 discs mailed them and watched the 3rd movie.
It took no more than 3 weeks for Universal to send me the replacements. There really is no need for you to wait to buy the set.

FWIW, I just bought the set from DDD with their most recent 20% sale and they shipped the non-remastered copy.
I called (888) 703-0010 and they are still doing the replacements of discs 2 and 3. If you call, they send out the prepaid mailer to be returned to:
Back to the Future DVd returns
P.O. Box 224468
Dallas, TX 75260
I also just did the Monty Python Meaning of Life last month with no problems.

The original versions are f'd up. IIRC, the movie's producer said so himself. The "V2" versions are what you should have.
I did the switcheroo by mail and it went without a hitch.

And Cross, I hope you just got your post mixed up. The first movie was fine. It was the sequels that had problems. Or did you send back the first movie by mistake? I wonder what Universal would do if someone did that - send it back?

Not nearly bad enough to ruin the movie for anyone who isn't a fanatic about it. I doubt 99% of the people who owned them would ever even notice.

The misframing looks particularly bad in some scenes. I never bought the set but its been on my 'must buy' list for some time. I am holding off until I find somehwere that sells the revised editions.

Here's a curiosity:
Just checked DVDEmpire and it has Back to the Future (WS & FS) listed as out of stock but set for RE-RELEASE on January 25, 2005!!! Now I'm wondering if this re-release means the release of the REMASTERED V2 versions or is it simply DVDEmpire's way of saying "we've ordered more units(of the misformatted versions) but we won't get it until Jan. 25, 2005"???
Anybody on the inside got any ideas about this re-release?

Also is there anyway to get a new slipcase for this set? The one I got from DDD is in bad shape.
