Ginger Snaps Back (III): The Beginning -US specs and Canadian Specs-
OK the good folks at creature-corner.com have posted the specs for the canadain release, so I thought I would post both discs' specs so maybe we won't have 5 "Which version is better" threads pop-up for this film when it's released.
-Canadian Version- Release Date: 9-14-04
Widescreen (1.85:1-16X9)
English 5.1 Dolby Digital
French 5.1 Dolby Digital
Director's Commentary
Deleted Scenes
Director Grant Harvey's Video Diary
Wolfboy Special Effects Make-up and stunt Rehearsal
Blood, Guts and Fire - Death Scene Special Effects and Stunts
Costume Design
Behind the Scenes featurette
Production Design Walk Through
Trailer
Trailer Gallery
-US Version- Release Date: 9-7-04
Widescreen (1.85:1-16X9)
English 5.1 Dolby Digital
Grant Harvey Video Diary
Deleted Scenes
Wolfboy Special Effects Makeup and Stunt Rehearsal
Blood, Guts and Fire: Death Scene Special Effects and Stunts
Costume Design
Behind the Scenes featurette
Production Design Walk-through
Looks like an almost draw to me, I guess the commentary will be a clincher for some folks, but i'm not too big on Single Person Commentaries, I like a group effort. I will probally get the Canadian just so I can have the canadian version of all 3.

Thanks for the specs. No trailer for the US?
I think I'll stick with the US version, but I might be swayed if reviews come out saying the commentary is spectacular.

Good news... can't wait. These movies rock. It's interesting that, with the first movie, the differences betweent the US and Canadian DVDs were like night and day. With each subsequent release, they specs are almost the same.
Good for us (U.S.) I guess

Yeah, I have the Canadian disc for the first film, the US for the second, and will most likely purchase the US for the third.

DVD Talk Special Edition
I have the canadian version of 1 and 2 so I might go canadian again. There doesn't seem to be much difference.
This has turned out to be a great set of movies! I never thought there would be a sequel but was shocked when they did. Now a third movie rocks.

mini review i did last month:
This movie seems to have been billed as a prequel. It is not a prequel and has no continuity as the first movie is to the sequel, which left off where the first one ended.
Although our resident actresses are still named Bridgette and Ginger. the movie takes place in 19th Century Canada. Our girls stumble across a Native American campsite that has been ravaged. They meet an Elder Lady who gives them some charms and says "Kill the young boy and the curse will be lifted".
They then are led to a fort in the middle of the Canadian wilderness (winter). Supplies are running out and the survey crews have not returned. Thus, a sparsely populated fort. They are afraid of something and something is loose in the fort.
We have a pretty entertaining cast here. The sympathetic fort master, the irritating bible thumper, the wacky doctor, and the mysterious Natives who seem to be able to freely travel in and out of the fort.
"Kill the boy and the Curse will be lifted".
The movie spends a bit too much time in the fort, and the story drags and we get thoroughly annoyed with the bible thumper who we hope will somehow die a horrible death
In this movie, infection seems to take quite a long time, which does fit into the movie.
The elder mentions that 'One Sister will kill another"... Who will get infected... will the curse be lifted... will Axolotls watch this again?
The movie bored me for the bulk of it. The ending was spectacular and perhaps saved the movie for me.
Script: 7/10
Special FX: 7/10
Werewolf Count: 8/10
Sexy Count: Bridgett shows her derrier 7/10
How Many Times I got up to do something else: 3
OVERALL: 7/10 (6/10 without the ending)
This franchise seems to have steadily declined. I will hope that it ends here and leave the trilogy as a decent legacy.

I haven't ordered a Canadian disc in a while, but when I have, www.absound.ca has worked very well for me. Haven't tried amazon.ca yet.

I saw the US version yesterday and it said "Deleted Scenes with optional commentary" and then "Director Commentary" as a seperate feature.
Is this the commentary that was supposed to be only on the Canadian version and thus there would seem to be no difference between the two?
Can anyone confirm this on the US version? Thanks in advance.

The canadian edition is widescreen. It has a trailer and a trailer gallery that isn't on the US disc. That is about all that is different between the two discs, besides the packaging!
