Seriously, what are the chances we will see Daria on DVD?

I am referring to season sets, not the two "movies" that have come out so far. I know the demand for this show is great, but what are the realistic potentials that we will see season sets of this on DVD? Will there be a ton of red tape to cut through to clear all the music rights for the release? After all, isn't that what is delaying all the Beavis and Butthead episodes?

I'd love to have season sets of that show. My guess is they could always replace the music with something else. How is it done with the "Real World"? Or is that even on DVD?

It wouldn't be the same with replaced music or edited scenes. I don't care if it takes the next 5 years to get it out, if that's what is holding it up, then I hope they get on those negotiations!

Man, Daria on DVD would be wonderful. Music would probably be the main sticking point (I'm guessing this is the same reason why we might never see Homicide:Life on the Streets on DVD). I don't own the movies so I don't remember to what extent music was used in them. It's possible that if they can get clearence for the movies and Beavis that Daria shouldn't be too far behind.

MTV appears unwilling to admit that they even existed before a couple of years ago.
Their Beavis and Butthead released have been horribly spotty -- and that was probably one of their biggest hits ever.
As to music rights, I assume any music will have to be removed or replaced. Presumably, since MTV plays the music videos, they can insert the same music into their broadcast shows, but don't have the video rights. So any pop music that was current with these shows probably won't make it to video releases.

I figured this was due for a mega bump. I got my review copy of The State yesterday and there was a preview for Daria, saying it was coming to DVD in 2010. No real details beyond that.

About time they planned this for release, it's been in the top 10 most wanted shows on TVShowsOnDVD.com for a LONG time, at least 4-5 years. Music must have been the huge issue but they must have either figured it out or are going to drop a lot of it.
I'm hoping more shows on the top 10 get there issues out of the way and released so there could be some fresh shows on it. Very little movement on the TVShowsOnDVD most wanted list in the past few years.

I would be there day and date if this were true. I've had to live on horrible downloaded copies for too long, and I would definitely pay more to keep the music intact.

When I try to take a screen capture it tells me that screen grabs don't work during DVD playback. I'm using a Mac, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
Anyone have any tips around this?

Hopefully our friends at TVshowsondvd.com can score some more detailed information on this. As others have said, I wouldn't mind springing a few more dollars from my wallet to get episodes with all, if not the wide majority, of the original music in tact. As long as it isn't a complete disaster like the WKRP sets I will be on board.
And I hope it's a complete series set too, so they don't find some asinine excuse to not release future seasons.

This show would not be the same without the music intact*.
That being said, there is always hope the DAP Central crew gets on this if MTV won't.
*Not to say it isn't an issue with the State, but Daria used way more music then the State did IIRC.

Can Viacom start licensing titles to Shout?
The State was originally announced for DVD for release in Fall of 2007. We're getting it Summer of 2009. That logic would dictate Daria wouldn't be out until 2012 at the earliest.
I'd love for MTV to put out Daria. I'd pick it up. I'd also pick up a slew of shows from MTV from that time frame. 2GE+HER, I'm looking right at ya.

Re: Seriously, what are the chances we will see Daria on DVD?
It would be great if they got the whole show out on DVD. There were only 65 episodes I think so it could take them at most three sets to get it all out there. I'd prefer that all the music be in tact, but if they absolutely had to replace it so the whole show would see the light of day, I'd still buy it.
