$20 GC with $100 purchase at BB B&M...or even better!

Just got back from Best Buy where, this week, they have a $10 GC with a $75 VG or accessory purchase or $20 GC with $100 purchase. However, when I checked out they just gave me $20 off my $100 purchase rather than giving a gift card! Ended up with Mario Kart, Wheel of Fortune, and Mario and Luigi for $85, not too bad and a bit better than the $5 coupons!

The real question is can this be combined with the $5 coupons. I want to get Mario and Luigi, Donkey Kong, and a few other $20-$25 games. If I get enough of those that the total is still $100 after all $5 coupons are applied, will the computer give me the $20 gift card?

Last week they had the $10 GC with $75 purchase and I got Mario Party 5 ($50) and another Wave Bird ($35).

Since BB does the whole 'even-out-the-discount' (which took $5 off the game and $5 from the controller) and added a $10 GC ($45 + $30 + $10 = $85), I had the manager key in the $5 coupon and walked out with a total of $80.

So when I go back to BB this week, I'll use my other $5 coupon and the $10 GC to get Mario Kart for $35.

Not bad.

But I guess what I meant to say is the combination of the deal and a coupon, YRMV.

When I tried to use the coupon the cashier told me "NO, this coupon cannot be combined with other offers." I got ticked by her because I was spending $125 and she was pissy with me to begin with...no to mention I didn't see why it was an issue to use the coupon when I was well over the $100 mark. Maybe you can get a cashier to key it in, but I couldn't with the one I had.

The coupons say right on them that they can't be combined with any other offers.

So be nice when you ask. If they say no they are just doing they're job and following company rules.

Still, it doesn't hurt to politely ask, you may get someone that doesn't know they rule or doesn't care.

I might try this, but the secret police (Best Buy employees) will probably make a big deal out of it like they always seem to do.

You need a coupon for this deal? Also if I buy something for 99.99 like a gamecube do I need to add something for a penny to get over the 100 mark and get a $20 GC.

You obviously didn't participate in our other discussion involving a memory card priced at $19.98.

YMMV

I'd imagine that tax would cover it. If not, you could always buy the gamers card and put a buck on it. That'd bring your total over $100.

Here's what I am going to try:

I will buy the GBA. Also, I'll buy Mario Advance 4, and DK Country. I'll use $15 of my Reward Zone coupons, and try and use a $5 gamer card coupon per item. So either they will tell me that I can't use the gamer coupons and get the deal, or I will luck out and they'll let it go.

I figure GBA (64.99) + Mario Advance 4 (26.99) + DK Country (24.99) - $15 (Reward Zone) - $15 (Gamer Coupons) = $87

So the question is, will they give me the gift card if my final total after coupons is under $100. On the other hand, I did plan on picking up either Contract J.A.C.K or the Dungeon Siege Expansion as well, so I could add that on and go over the $100 mark. Or luck out and be able to come back and buy it with the gift card

I am probably going to try this out in a few hours, so I'll post what happened here when I get back

Yeah I know. Target supposedly has it for $39.99, K-Mart has it for $49.99 on Thanksgiving Day, and a few other places had deals as well. I am pretty much only doing it this week to get the extra gift card.

My BB let me use the gamer coupons and still get the GC. However, the best part was that the cashier did not realize the the computer had deducted the $20 GC and my coupons from the total and I got an additional $10 GC. I ended up with 4 games worth $125 + a $10 GC for $84 + tax
