Throw Mama from the Train - blind buy?

I have never seen this movie, but I like Devito. I have heard it's funny. Is it worth ordering for $6.00?

I always liked it. It's a very funny and sweet movie. Billy Crystal is good and it was great to see Anne Ramsey working after her stroke. IMO, I'd say it's a safe $6 buy.

Very funny movie that is actually a wicked spin on Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train - go for it!

DeVito and Ramsey are perfect in this. Type of movie that is enjoyable to watch a few times also.

Spoiler:
I actually felt that Crystal was the weak link. He seemed to be playing it more for laughs rather than letting them come on their own (like the difference in acting styles between Candy and Martin in PT&A) and not striking the balance that I felt would have brought more to the movie.

So many quotable lines.

This movie rocked.

Great characters, acting, story, comedy, everything.

It's awesome. Even better if you love your mother.

This is one of my favorite comedies. I'll agree with abintra about Crystal's performance. That sort of thing usually bugs, but everything else in this movie is so wonderful that I can overlook it.

Spoiler:
The movie's really funny. But I love the one scene where Owen shows Larry his coin collection. Crystal is really on the ball there, very toned down. The scene is very touching without getting cheesy.

Even after seeing Death To Smootchy I wish Devito would make more movies. He's not thought of as a film maker, but he has some pretyy impressive films on his resume IMO; Throw Momma From The Train, War of the Roses, Matilda. All these films are really strong visually. He uses a lot of unique camera shots and movements, and with the exception of DTS, has a good taste in material.
