New Atari 2600 and Activision game "consoles"
I saw this Atari one at Target last weekend:
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=321721
And I just found out there is also an Activision one:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categorie...p?pf_id=201129
10 classic games stored inside each controller.

Pretty cool! With the current trend of older games being re-released, I wish that Tecmo would get their act together and re-release my favorite game of all time, Super Tecmo Bowl. Same graphics and gameplay, with updated rosters and online play.

Watch QVC on the weekends and you'll find a 2 player system of 64 activision games for about $24. There's another one w/ actual Bally/Midway arcade games too.

My friends would use a Jerry Rice play in Tecmo Bowl, which usually had about a 95% success rate

ah, the fond memories of Tecmo Bowl. And you thought the new games were bad with the "win-all-the-time" plays.

I too grew up with the 2600 and intellivision. Let fond memories remain just that. If someone made a game like any of those today we would all hate it no matter what could be said about it's basic gameplay appeal.
Sorry to rant but I have went back to relive my past with Mame and 2600 games and it ruined my memories of the fun I had. I guess I just demand more now and have little patience for that stuff now.
I saw it at EB and was tempted for a few minutes and then said to mayself " I have an XBOX". Can you imagine the batteries it would eat up? But for $25 its not like it would be such a loss.

Tecmo bowl fans know of the best play in the game!
The Mark Bavarro SUCK HOLE play...
Simms drops back...Bavarro runs a curl route...all defenders run away from Bavarro...100% completion ratio.
Not to mention LT can block every single kick!

First, Tecmo Super Bowl is the best football game ever. In what other game can you throw endzone to endzone and have the receiever catch the ball 50 ft in the air? What other game has Lawrence Taylor do lines of coke for speed burst? 'Nough said.
I might actually pick up this controller/console thing. I still play my NES all the time (including Tecmo Super Bowl) and love the classic games.

I used to get hand cramps from that controller.
I held the base with my fingers and I used my thumb on the top of the stick. I knew other guys who used the crook between the thumb and pointing finger to control stuff.

OK...
I got the Atari joystick one tonight at Target. This thing is really cool. It feels about 90% like a real Atari joystick. It hooks up real easy, and I like that it uses batteries instead of a power supply.
The games are a decent mix, but there are some graphical glitches and some of the sounds are different than the originals. Missile Command sounded a lot different.
In the games that the originals were used with the paddle controllers, they are more difficult with a joystick and should have been held off for a 10-in-1 paddle.
One other thing that bugs me is the lack of the difficulty switch.
Overall a pretty nice unit. I will buy any new ones they come out with. Actually, I'm thinking of buying the Activision unit, taking it apart, and putting the board into one of the Atari joystick units. That's the way Spider Fighter was intended to be played.
