if you could change the ending of any movie what would it be and why

mine would be rat race. the original ending has
Spoiler:
smash mouth saving the day and giving the money to charity
.

in my improved ending i would have the guy who plays mr bean win originaly. He then falls asleep. then out of nowhere john cleese would take the money and drive off with it. When the others get there just in time to see what happened. They would then all get in seperate cars and chase him. This chase would be a spectacular car chase lasting nearly 5 min. The car that cleese drives trys to avoid another car and drives over the edge. The others catch up, and find that he is dead. They end up arguing over who gets the money overall. Then after all pulling on it, it flies up into the air. Then out of nowhere, a man with his back to us catches it. When we find who it is , it was leslie nielson (who has apeared in a few zuckers brothers movies), He decides to run off with it, and the movie ends. That sounds better right?

Yeah, that woulda been hilarious. Leslie Nielsen is one of the most underrated comedians around. The real ending to Rat Race sucked. I would own it on DVD if not for the ending.

I'll come back to this thread later and add some. I'm about to watch Usual Suspects. Now there's a movie with a great ending.

The Abyss, ending ruined the film.
Saving Grace, ending was dreadful.
Heat, I really never liked the ending (the final shoot-out).

Gossip (I know, not exactly the greatest movie no matter what ending, but...)
Spoiler:
Making the whole plot twist back on itself in the very end was just way too much. It's been a good while since I've seen it so I can't really elaborate, but I really enjoyed it up until the big twist at the end - which pretty much made me not like the whole movie.

How about Tim Bourton's Planet of the Apes. Where at the end they have a battle with the Apes and that stupid chimp comes out of the sky and they stop everything. What a terrible ending. I was sitting there watching this and thinking What the Hell is this? That ruined the whole movie for me. What a terrible ending.

the ending of Burton's Planet of the Apes was one of the worst endings ever, did it not just piss you off? i definitely liked some aspects of the new version better than the old one, but the ending still made me feel like i waisted my money! i don't ever want to see it again...

Dogma:
Spoiler:
Could they have chosen a worse person to play God? It almost made me barf.

American History X:
Spoiler:
I wouldn't want an overhaul of the ending. Just a minor change in the way the kid dies. The first shot we see of him taking bullets shows his paper fly out of his hand. Then later on when we see him lying there dead. The paper is in his hand. It's just something that always bugged me.

Mad Max:
Spoiler:
Instead of just killing one person at a time and then just ending the film. They should have shown him going psycho, finding the hideout of the entire gang, and annihilating all of them in a big shootout. The original ending is kind of an anti-climax considering how the film slowly builds up to something.

Fight Club:
Spoiler:
Just the shot with HBC and Norton standing there watching the buildings fall felt so out of place for that movie. It was supposed to be an unconventional movie, but had a cliched ending. Maybe they should have had Norton fall into another coma type sleep thing that he has, indicating that maybe all his problems aren't over yet. Maybe he isn't 100% sane yet. And then fade to black on that.

Titanic:
Is the spoiler tag really needed??
Spoiler:
It was just dumb how Leo ended up dying. There was enough room on that wooden plank for 2 people. They should have just had the two seperated and lost. And leave it as a mystery about what happens to Leo.

I just thought of one:
Life As A House

Spoiler:
I would've liked it better if the kid didn't give the house to the car accident girl. Its a good ending but, I think it would've been better if he kept it for the family.

armageddon
Spoiler:
the asteriod does hit earth, every body dies, and cool exposions are throughout

cast away
Spoiler:
we dont realize he gets off the island because the 2nd trailer never existed

the ending was a cheap way to get all females to cry
Spoiler:
i am sure glad that leo DID die

It is rather unconventional. How often does a movie end with 5 buildings collapsing?

BTW, they show a porn frame, indicating Tyler is out there or still around somewhere, IMO.

Ok, not that I would actually change the ending, but if you know the movie Star Trek : Generations -

Spoiler:
There's a point when Picard is in the nexus, with his family on christmas, when he is looking at an ornament on the christmas tree, and then he says, "no, this is all wrong", and then proceeds to save the day, etc. I always thought that it would have been so cool if they had just zoomed in on the ornament, blur, fade, the end.

I agree with this film. However, I do not think they have changed it. They should have had the end at.

Spoiler:
When the bonds fly up in the air, it would be a good film noir ending.

I do agree with Panic Room. I was waiting for her to run out and tell them to put their guns down instead of just standing there. I mean, you gotta feel sympathy for the character for all he did.

Planet of the Apes (2001)
Spoiler:
There's a line where Ari (Helena Bonham Carter's character) says something about how stories with be told about Leo- he person who united humans and apes. When Leo returned to earth he should've landed in NYC and found a billboard for a Broadway play called "Leo & Ari" by William Shakespeare, indicating that he had been on prehistoric earth and that the stories (and the union of the species) were passed down through the ages.

The Avengers (1998)
Spoiler:
I would've prefered if they ended this one in pre-production.

I would change the ending of Jaws. When I was little I used to always wonder why Hooper didn't swim up from the bottom, come up right under Brody and grab him by the legs and jerk him under or something. I mean really scare the s**t out of him. As I got older and understood the seriousness of the situation they had just gone through, I understood why he didn't do that.

Still, it would have been a hilarious prank.

I also would have changed the ending to The Bad News Bears and Kingpin. I always have a hard time enjoying a movie when the star(s) loses the "big game". Except Rocky though, because his goal was just to survive and, of course, he did.

American Graffiti

The movie itself is great and I like it very much...

Spoiler:
Up until the last title screen that tells you what happens to the characters in the future. To me, that was just lame and unnecessary. I pretend it doesn't exist and get tempted to turn off the movie on the shot of the sky.

I disagree.

Spoiler:
I would change the ending of THE GAME. The Michael Douglas character shouldve died when he jumped off the building. The way it is now is so stupid and fake.

I disagree. I thought the ending of The Game was brilliant.
