Where you in line? If so, what games did you get?

Ahhh yes, that was a good day. I waited in line the night before for about two hours. Went home with NFL2K, came back a few days later for Soul Calibur.

The worst thing was that when we got home that night (actually, the early morning of the 9th), I didn't realize that my roommates TV was from 1920, and I needed a RF adapter!

R.I.P Dreamcast.

I had mine preordered at value america, but got sick of waiting after a month, cancelled the order and went and bought one the first week of october.

In hindsight, I wish I would have waited, as the system wasn't worth $199 as it was only supported for a little over 2 years. $100 would have been more reasonable for a 2 year system.

I got sick of waiting and bought one the second or third week it was out at TRU. Then returned the VA one to the store when it came.

Nah, got one like a month and a half later, even after telling myself I'd never own one. I sure to remember the launch on the 'net though....sure was a lot of hype and excitement that day.

Feels like that was about 8 years ago, back in the day or whatever. Still, the system was one of the best.

Oh well, at least with it dying I could find a reason to pick up a new system. Never anything wrong with that

VA shipped me three games, a controller, and a VMU, but never the system, thus giving me no reason to keep everything else. I ended up taking everything to a store for full credit.

I got to my local Toys R Us an hour before they opened. Nobody was there and nobody else even showed up the whole time I was there. I had to go to work that day too. I could have went at 5pm and still got mine.

I had mine ordered for $150 from some site that I don't remember, but they cancelled out on me. Luckily I had my Toys R Us preorder still. I had my mom go get it whilst I was at school. I would have liked to have gone home and play it right away, but I had to go to a special math class that night. I would have then liked to have gone home and played it right away, but had to go to the football game. FINALLY after 9:30 I got home, and got to play Sonic Adventure

Picked mine up at Sears that night along with a VMU. The demo disc kept me busy for quite a while. Also, I remember checking www.dreamfiles.com and waiting patiently to be able to download save games to the VMU. Oh well.

Dreamfiles is not yet compatible with the US Dreamcast, this will be fixed as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
Wonder when Dreamfiles will get that fixed?

What's VA?

I didn't buy a Dreamcast until they went down to 50 bucks. They didn't support the Dreamcast for very long, but there sure were alot of quality games for it. About 250 or so games... not bad.

Value America. They had some crazy deals like many online sites in the late 90's.

I pre-ordered mine from etoys before they stopped it from being eligible for the 20% refund (or was it 25%) from e b a t e s.

Most of my games came 50% off from VA - ahhh, those were the days. Diggin' through old folders, I found this old receipt (loved that cookware that gave you $100 additional valuedollars!!)

Item: Dreamcast VMU
Price: $17.95

Item: NFL Blitz 2000
Price: $42.95

Item: Revere 9-Piece Solutions Anodized Nonstick Cookwar
Price: $109.99

Item: Sonic Adventure
Price: $42.95

Subtotal: $213.84
Shipping: $9.95
Tax: $.00
Discount: -$99.98
Total: $123.81

You have earned $101.11 ValueDollars that you can use toward future purchases.

I remembered Sony countered the Dreamcast release with a big game. It might've been FF8. As for me, I waited until it was $150 before I purchased it.

The Dreamcast had one of the slickest marketing campaigns that I remember. Their commercials were stylish and damn great.

I didn't get my system till last November but I still think it rocks.

Love my Dreamcast
I only got mine in March of this year..got it on Ebay(barely used) and a .com company paid me back for buying it-they owed me one. It's my favourite system, and will be for years to come.

Anyone know where I can download some of Sega's old Dreamcast commercials? I'd love to see those.
