Something Fishy Going on DVDExpress/DVD.com

Guys,

Just wanted to post that something fishy seems to be going on. I got a note today from DVDExpress saying that they've been acquired by DVD.com

Well That's really strange as DVD.com has always been owned by DVD Express (and the copyright on DVD.com says 'Express Media Group, Inc.')

So I thought I'd post that I see this whole thing as one big RED FLAG and am advising people use other stores until this whole thing is clear.

No offense Geoff, but DVDExpress has been fishy for a while now. I would think that with all the other reliable retailers out there that maybe it's time to cut them loose for good. Too much trouble that DVDTalk doesn't need to be involved in.

Huh.

Frankly, I didn't even know DVDExpress was still around.

I've been staying away for quite some time now.

Something Fishy Going on DVDExpress/DVD.com

There has been something fishy going on with this company the day they started doing business. The have screwed their customers from start to finish to start again to changing their name. Who cares about this latest deception buy somewhere else.

I laughed when I read the part of the email that said (paraphrased) "we want to provide service like the old days", knowing that the "old days" is how majortom described above!

They coulda been a contenda...

In the beginning ('98 - '99), they had good service and decent prices. Sorta like DVD Empire. I placed my first online DVD order with them for Silence of the Lambs Criterion and Spinal Tap Criterion. Haven't visited their site in many, many months.

You are right funk, in the first year 97-98 express was not a bad company. But I don't agree with your dvdempire comment, they have always provided me with excellent service from the beginning to now.

majortom, my bad. I worded that poorly. I meant that, DVD Express, in '98-'99, was like DVD Empire is now and always has been. DVD Empire is the main company I use now - I think they're great.

Please try to help me Geoff
On 6/25 I rceived notice that a abackorder had shipped. I had forgotten the back order and was pleased...at first. After 8 emails, they do not have a phone number that I can locate, I still have not received my dvd order , but my card has been charged. They are not respondingat all. I do get the stupid automatic email stating that they received my email and please be patient.
Can anyone help or suggest something? I have already contacted my credit card company, but they suggested to wait a few more days to see if it is dellivered.

I cannot bring up the fisrt page with all the numbers. However, I had copied the phone number previously and did call. They claim they are not DVD.Com or DVD Express.

Here's the number from the page I linked: 1-888-383-9700

Just checking to make sure you had the same one.

Good luck.

Randy810,
I'd give it another week or so before disputing charges, if it's a media mail shipment.
In my recent order mentioned above, the charge posted on 6/15 (the ship date), and I didn't receive it until 7/2, about the same amount of time involved in your order.
Also, I live less than 100 miles away from where they ship. Media mail can just be whacky sometimes.

You've now also invoked Murphy's Law of mail-order. Since you've gone through the hassle of checking on it, it'll show up within a few days.

Still waiting for my order.
Other than posting on the forum is there any recourse against this outfiit?
Warning others not to use the etailer is a minor start, I don't beleive they really care about old or new customers.
It is now 23 days and no order and no response from DVD.com

I have two orders that were shipped recently, one on 6/20, the other on 7/9. Both orders were from the old $3.99 Bargain Basement sale that DVD Express had back in March. I have yet to receive either order even though I live 40 miles from where they are!

There is definitely something fishy, in fact I'd say there is something whaley going on. I am very frustrated.

(310)202-7646 is another number for them that I got from whois. It does connect to them but I don't have time to try extensions to get a live body right now. I'll try later.

(310)202-7646 will not get to a human being. It does say to email for customer service or at the end dial "0" for the operator. I have been calling this number since 12:30p and the message I get is the same "the operator is busy with other people, please leave a message"

I have left 7 messages.
