Why did they call "Beaver" Cleaver the "Beaver"??

where did that nickname come from? i've seen a ton of shows and they never say

Canon to the show, it's Wally's botching of the name Theodore to "Tweever" which evolved to Beaver.

In reality, Connelly named him after an army buddy.

It's was mentioned a couple times. Wally couldn't pronounce "Theodore".

Also why was he referred to as "the beaver" rather than just "beaver'?

P.S. Most people believe he was an architect (or accountant in an architectural firm). There are numerous little things to hint at this, from his love of bridges to his art and engineering background.
