A sad day for rock fans..

Randy Castillo who spent many years playing drums for Ozzy and most recently with Motley Crue has lost his battle with cancer.
Truly a huge loss for rock and roll...

May you rest in peace Randy...

A sad day indeed. I remember the first time I heard him was with the 1980's band Stone Fury - great stuff!

That's really sad.

A lot of the metal guys have been dying of cancer. Dave Pritchard (Armored Saint), Eric Carr (Kiss), Chuck Schuldiner (Death).

At least I think Chuck Billy (Testament) was doing well, last I heard.

a message from Nikki Sixx on motley.com:

IM SORRY TO INFORM YOU THIS WAY, BUT RANDY CASTILLO PASSED AWAY TONIGHT. HE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE AND POSITIVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT EVERYTHING AND EVERYBODY.

HE WAS A GREAT DRUMMER..
HE WAS A GREAT CARING PERSON AND A VERY SPIRITIUAL SOUL.

WE WILL MISS HIM SO MUCH....AND JAM TOGETHER AGAIN SOMEDAY SOON.

Nikki

Another dead metal man:

Paul Baloff, lead singer (at one time) for Exodus, the band that Kirk Hammet was a member of before Metallica.

Apparently this guy died of a massive stroke.

I just get this bizarre feeling that Ozzy will out live me...and I've got another 50 years on this planet at least.

After the big nuke, all that will be left are cockroaches, Ozzy Osbourne, and Keith Richards.

Yes, he was diagnosed with some form of cancer a while back (can't remember the specifics). He is, however, recovering.

Unfortunatly, with cancer I dont think there really is a "recovery" you may have a down town..sometimes it lasts months..somtimes years..and then when you least expect it, the worst happens.
I know this from personal experience with a family friend and with Randy..I think he was more or less "recovered" and then he just died one day..

sad..

Well, remission, then.

A lot of times, it depends on the type of cancer and how far it progressed.

Some people do recover fully and live to a ripe old age. Sometimes the treatment will buy a few more years before it comes back.
