Christian Artists/Bands you like
I don't like most what my friend calls "pink underwear" Christian music (i.e. Amy Grant, etc). Or the pop stuff like DC Talk & Newsboys. (some of their songs are ok).
I do like:
Five Iron Frenzy (ska)
Relient K (pop-punk a la new Blink 182)
Craig's Brother "Homecoming" (melodic punk)
MxPx
Superchic[k] (alt-chick rock a la Letters to Cleo)
The Insyderz (ska)
Value Pac (punk -- cross between Green Day and Rancid)
Switchfoot (alternative)
Plumb (girl fronted alternative)
Huntingtons (uhh... the Ramones)
John Reuben (rap)
Supertones (ska.. though latest album combined several styles)
Dingees (punk/Reggae)
Calibretto 13 (accoustic punk a la Violent Femmes)
P.O.D.
L.A. Symphony (8-member rap group)
Pax 217 (like 311, but better)
Hangnail (pop punk)
Futher Seems Forever (emo)
Philmore (punk)
Johnny Respect (punk)
Spivies (sorta 60's surf rock)
Benjamin Gate (hmm Garbage meets the Cranberries?)
Dogwood (punk)
There are some others that I haven't heard a lot of, but what I did hear sounded pretty good: The Deal, Slick Shoes, One-21
What do you guys like?

Actually, I like Amy Grant's older stuff. Like the "Unguarded" album, and "Lead Me On." Don't care for much after the mid-80's with her. Newsboys is suck.
I like:
5 Iron Frenzy
Supertones
Calibretto 13
(Some of) Third Day
(older) Michael W. Smith
(some of) MercyMe
Rebecca St. James
Creed

I like Amy Grant's "Unguarded" but I prefer her later releases especially the commercially successful "Heart in Motion." Since she hooked up with Gill, we haven't heard much from her.

All Star United
Say-So
Common Children
Christine Glass
Paloma
Poor Old Lu
Vigilantes of Love
Over the Rhine
16 Horsepower
Switchfoot
Luxury
Lost Dogs
77's
Daniel Amos
World Wide Message Tribe
Hydro
Cloud 2 Ground
Luna Halo
Sarah Masen
Delirious?
Innocence Mission
Blaster the Rocket Man
Beanbag
Danielson
Where do I stop? I could go on and on with this list. It's absolutely incredible what quality music there is out there. I've been listening to all kinds of music all my life and some of the best music I've ever heard is from Christian artists. Stuff that gets ignored in secular AND Christian circles. As for Amy Grant, I only liked her last effort. And I think the Newsboys aren't really suck. They have some pretty clever lyrics and are so much better than most pop Christian acts.

I think Buddy and Julie Miller count! They were in town here in Atlanta last night. I got married yesterday so for some strange reason I decided it might be more fun to celebrate my marriage than go to a concert. Uh, think I better go now and stop pretending like I'm just checking my email!!

Dunno if Calibretto 13 were at Cornerstone this year since I couldn't go, but C2k, they actually played about 5 different shows over the course of the week -- very popular, and they're so dang funny. Also have some great references in some songs -- ie. Resident Evil.
other great bands:
Pedro the Lion
P.O.D.
SF 59
Insyderz
Judean Radiostatic
East West
American Made
MxPx
Bruthaz Grimm
Farquar Muckenfuss ("acid surfer rock without lyrics" - not my description, but pretty apt ;p)
Poor Old Lu (defunct)
Steve Taylor (defunct)
Crashdog (defunct)
Project 86
Dogwood
Ghoti Hook (figure out how to pronounce it ;p)
Flight 180
Fleming and John
Stavesacre
Havalina Rail Co.
pretty sure there are others, but that's off the top of my head.

My very favorite was PFR, but they had to go and break up after Them. Let's see....
Caedmon's Call
All Star United
Smalltown Poets
Third Day
Jars of Clay (until I heard them sing live, anyway)
Michael W. Smith
Sarah Masen
etc.... I haven't been turned on to any Christian stations within the past four years, so there's no telling what else I'd like that's out there.

I dunno, would a band like Helloween count? For a melodic speed metal band, they have a lot Christian oriented songs, like:
"Laudate Dominum" (sung entirely in Latin)
"I Believe"
"Salvation"
"Hey Lord"
"We Damn The Night"
"Revelation"
"Save Us"
...plus a crap load of other happy/optimistic songs...
Then again, they have songs like:
"Murderer"
"Judas"
"Escalation 666"
"Phantoms of Death"
"Laudate Dominum" (sung entirely in Latin)
"I Believe"
"Salvation"
"Hey Lord"
"We Damn The Night"
"Revelation"
"Save Us"

Whereas... a band like Lifehouse, that has lots of lyrics relating to God/Christianity aren't really considered a Christian band.

Have any of you heard Brave Saint Saturn? It has some of the members of Five Iron Frenzy (same singer, for sure.. not sure who else). Not ska at all.. not sure what you'd classify it as..
I downloaded some of their songs. They're pretty good.

I really like Third Day. If you get a chance to see them live - go for it. They are one of the better live bands aroud - Christian or otherwise.
I also like Phil Keagy. Not so much his songs, but for his incredible guitar playing. Again, don't pass up a chance to see him live - he gives the type of performance you'll never forget.
actual interview circa 1970 -
Interviewer: "What's it like to be the world's greatest electric guitar player?"
Jimi Hendrix: "I don't know. You'll have to ask Phil Keagy."

The only Christian albums I have are CDs of the records I had when I was a kid. My parents brain-washed me into think all of my music was Satanic/Worldly and had me destroy almost my entire music collection when I was in 4th & 5th grade. They influenced me to only listen to Christian bands at the time & this was really when Christian music was still underground, so to speak.
It is funny b/c you would think I would be pissed & never want to listen to those albums again but they are actually pretty good & I still enjoy them even though I am not a Christian. The following albums are (see if any of you know of these albums):
Petra: Not of This World & Beat the System
Sweet Comfort Band: Cutting Edge & Perfect Timing
Bryan Duncan: Have Yorself Committed & Holy Rolling
Carmen: Coming on Strong
I have an old album by White Heart & The Rez Band but have no desire to own those on CD. I always thought Stryper sucked even when I was an impressionable kid.
One album I would like to find on CD is Steve Camp's Fire & Ice (I think it was called that). I remembered liking it a lot.
So...does anybody have any of this old stuff or listen to it?

Farquar Muckenfuss -- if they're at Cornerstone they're Christian, but yeah, they don't have any lyrics -- kinda weird. Anyhoo, the cd is pretty wild the way they pretty much go with one long musical track, then alternate with one or two short noise/sampling tracks. Pretty interesting -- samples include quotes from "Brazil", Patrick Henry, etc. Here's the site: http://www.farquarmuckenfuss.com/ -- try clicking on the little popup window -- funny stuff.
