I'm buying a GameCube today......

So what I need is your input on the MUST own game, tell me what I should pick-up and why......also do I need a Memory card right away or can I hold off until after Christmas? You see I have only enough Cash to buy the system and one game, so if possible I'd like to skip the card for the time being....

Thanks
Ian

I would say Rouge Leader or SSB.M. Those are the two games I have and they are both great.

I would say SSB:M or Tony Hawk 3 if you are a tony hawk fan - also - definately pick up a memory card. You will need it for tony hawk or SSB - you want those matches to add up towards unlocking new characters

It really depends on what type of game you prefer, because there are several very good games out so far:

Rogue Leader: Great action game, if you like Star Wars

Wave Race: Absolutely awesome water and great gameplay

Madden 2002: Probably the best football game out there

SSBM: I don't have this one, but it's supposed to be a great multiplayer game

If I had to pick just one, I'd go with Rogue Leader. It has amazing graphics and solid gameplay. Most importantly, it's a Star Wars game!

If you get the Star Wars game, you're really going to want a memory card. I wouldn't want to have to start the missions all over again each time I play.

Yeah, Rogue Leader II is fun, but SSB:Melee will give you more "lasting" gameplay during the holiday season.

And you must get a memory card. They're only $20.

Get SSB: M.

If you love Tony Hawk, get THPS3. And if you love football games, get Madden. And if you love Star Wars, get Rogue Leader.

I'm seeing a trend here....

Hopefully you'll be able to find a GC. I've been looking fairly constantly in town for a few weeks and haven't found any.

(Seen plenty of X-Boxes though, which is tempting.)

If I ever find a GC, I was planning to pick up Rouge Squadron and either Super Smash Bros or Tony Hawk 3.

Super Smash Bros. Melee! Super Smash Bros. Melee! Super Smash Bros. Melee!!

If you had to get one game I'd get that one, excellent game with tons of cool characters and the music is sweet!! There's tons of secret characters and stages to unlock, a lot of surprises too.

If you want sports get Tony Hawk 3 or SSX Tricky, both top notch and addicting.

P.S. Get a memory card right away (if you can find one that is, they've been out in my town forawhile but luckily I got one at launch). Its pretty cheap too. I can't imagine playing that game without saving all the secrets and trophies.

The best of the Launch (in decending order of bestness):

The Star Wars game looks Mickey Fricky awsome and has some legs as far as playability.

Super Monkey Ball has some insane replay value, and some bad ass multiplayer. I'd say that the multiplayer is better than Smash Brothers.

Pickmin - Sort of a RTS Lemmings, and well worth the 50 bucks. Not a lot of multiplayer, tho. If youre looking for that, consider this later.

Smash Brothers - insane fighting, great multiplayer and some Soul Calibur type depth. An all around cool game.

also do I need a Memory card right away or can I hold off until after Christmas? You see I have only enough Cash to buy the system and one game, so if possible I'd like to skip the card for the time being....
Depends on the game. Something like FIFA you could probably get away without for a while, but something that requires progress - youre hosed.
