Help me purchase my next TV
I'm looking to buy a new TV. My existing one is a really old (early 80's vintage, I think) RCA or GE (not sure, but they are the same anyway), 19" color TV. The reason I want to replace it is because it's becoming unreliable. My cabinet which houses the TV can accomidate any 20" TV or smaller, however I did find a 23" TV which would also fit. It is probably the only 23" TV made and is shown here . Anyway, the problem is that when go to the store, most 19" or 20" TV are those crappy TV/VCR or TV/DVD combo that I don't want or a TV that just has a RF input. Since I connect my TV to the VCR, I won't be using the TV's tuner, and similiarly I have my (stereo HIFI VCR) connected to my stereo as well so I won't be using the audio section either. And the only TV's in my size range with S-video inputs tend to be high end TV's. My DVD player (Raite 715) has S-video output, my JVC SVHS VCR has S-video input and output.
My question is if S-video looks any better on a 19" or 20" TV. I've tried connecting my DVD player to my VCR using both the S-video and regular line inputs and I can not tell the difference on my TV, but then again, the input to my TV is still the antenna connection. Has anyone experimented with this? Maybe it is better if I had a decent TV? Since I won't be using the tuner or audio section it is tempting to just run to the store and get whatever happens to have A/V inputs and not worry about the rest (it's certainly the easiest and cheapest thing to do). But if it's going to make a difference I'm probaby going to get a nicer TV.
Plus suggestions on TV's might be helpful. Also I am begining to think that I might have to mail order whatever I end up getting, espically if I get one of the nicer TV's. I'm also looking for opinions of flat screen vs regular screen TV's.

Depending of your price range these TVs are great for around $350-$400, They are flat screen and have the video inputs you want.

Your getting off the topic of the thread. I can at most maybe fit a 23" TV in the space allowed and still use my VCR shelf. This TV is maybe 5 or 6 feet away from my bed and I don't want a big TV (which, for the most part are for the visually impared anyway). I suppose if I were farther away from the TV a slightly larger screen might be more appropriate.

Question asked, question answered.
I'm closing this thread since:
1) anything else that will address the question will merely be duplicate information
2) any information that strays from the central question is clearly unwelcome
