Any opinions on these speakers: Sony SA-VE325 or SA-VE525?
My best friend who have a limited budget wants to buy a home theater speaker package and considering Sony SA-VE325 or Sony SA-VE525 speakers. He does have a small studio and like these speakers because of the size and price.
He also consider getting the Sony STR-DE675 or STR-DE875 receivers.
Your comments and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Sony makes terrible speakers. (The Sony Sub is an exception) And their receivers are average at best. They simply don't approach the sound quality of a well chosen system in the same price range. By the products you mentioned I'm assuming a budget of about $800. Here is the best system possible for that kind of money IMO:
Receiver: Onkyo TX-DS494 (Online Price $257)
Speakers:
Fronts: PSB Alpha Mini (Online Price $142 a pair)
Rears: PSB Alpha Mini (Online Price $142 a pair)
Center: PSB Alpha Center (Online Price $129)
Sub: Sony WM-40 (Online Price $139)
Total Price = $809
This system includes the small fronts and rears for easy placement in your friend's studio. I chose every piece of the system for awesome sound, high build quality, and above all unbeatable value. See if you can try the equipment at a local hi-fi shop. You won't be disappointed.

Saturday Audio is closing out the Alphas, pretty much for the prices listed above. They also have better deals on B-Stock Alphas (cosmetic blems only, see page for details).
