Need a poll.
MHW gets my vote by a good margin. GoW was amazing but MH has almost endless content with frequent free updates.

God of War all the way. Just finished it(100%) a week or so ago. Most epic game I've played since the original Halo.
I just bought Spider-man and I still need to start Tomb Raider.
No interest in the rest of the list above.

Game of the year. (the Poll)
So what’s your game of the year according to the nominees? Maybe this could be merged? Or name your own...
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey...I know I haven’t played all, but Odyssey is just more fun then I’ve had in awhile with any game. It’s so big and usually that intimidates me and I do like linear, but there is so much to do and it’s fun doing it. Stealth kills are great and I can’t get tired of the animation that plays when you synchronize a fast travel. I’ve yet to use one, but still beauty. Gameplay is just fluid and fun and you can do so many things or similar things. It’s all fun.

Haven't played any on the list of options lol.
Some games that interested me that was released this year were Lost Sphear, Battle Chasers: Nightwar, and Dragon Quest XI.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is the only one I got around to playing this year and I've loved it. So giving my vote to it. It's kind of old-school turn-based JRPG premise/setup with a great looking aesthetic cellshaded-type artwork. JRPGs like the Shadow Hearts and Grandia series were always some of my favorite games. Including Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 4, and Legend of Dragoon. JRPG is definitely my favorite genre. Outside of that, I mostly just play Resident Evil and hack-n-slash styled games.
I know my vote is obviously not going to be a popular choice, but I use to be a huge gamer in 2010 & earlier but kind of fell out of gaming when my sister passed away early 2011. She was who I always gamed with.... and since then I've really only played a handful of titles. I had my one and only kid in 2013, and then my entire gaming collection was taken by my ex when we split in 2014 so that kind of finished that off.
Just recently started getting back into active gaming (and bought a PS4 from a friend with 15 games) and made a hefty list of backlog titles I want to check out but will probably never find time for. Most of my free time is spent watching TV Shows rather than gaming. I need to cut out some of the crappier shows on my list to make more time for gaming, lol.

I played a little of Monster Hunter Worlds and it wasn't my thing. Spider-Man was a really fun ride but in my opinion nothing could top God of War for me. That might actually be my game of this generation. Everything felt so epic in that game. And unlike most games today, it didn't feel padded. Pretty much everything I encountered felt like it had a purpose to either serve the story or the gameplay. It was just a fantastic game top to bottom.

A very strong year for games. GoW could easily take top spot for me, and RDR2 is amazing, but only scratching the surface of that. Hell the Spiderman game is fantastic as well. So many great game. I selected Assassins Creed simply because i have not had as much fun with another game all year. That spot might get taken by Just Cause 4 if they manage to bring us a worthy sequel to JC2 compared to a shitty sequel to JC3.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Haven't played it
Celeste - Haven't heard of it
God of War - Don't really want to play it
Spider-Man - Currently 53% through the main story and am liking so far
Monster Hunter World - My kids love it, but I don't see the appeal
Red Dead Redemption 2 - Would like to play it
... so naturally, I picked Spider-Man.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Haven't played it yet, but can't imagine an AC game being worthy of GOTY.
Celeste - Haven't played it and never will.
God of War - No interest
Spider-Man - Haven't played it yet, but will.
Monster Hunter World - Played the demo and thought it was shit.
Red Dead Redemption 2 - The one game on here I have played and I imagine should be the winner, but won't vote since I haven't played anything else.

Not that it would be my #1 choice, but I hope people remember Octopath Traveler come year's end. That Nintendo Switch exclusive from Square is such a cool RPG with a unique look and fun play-style. I don't know how well it sold. but I'm kinda happy that it's not yet dropped cheap -- maybe that's an indication that it's still selling well. It's a really great game that more people should be talking about.
