Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

Preorder up at Best Buy w/ $10 reward zone certificate.

Just like Titanfall 2 and Battlefront II, map packs will be free so player base isn't split. I kinda wish it wasn't WWII, but I'll still check it out.

That looked good, but I have no idea what’s the setting or what the hell is going on. So, what’s the difference between these and CoD? CoD:WWI? Just different companies putting out similar style war games? So the last was Battlefield I, why is this V?

I'll give this a look since the COD franchise said basically screw all of you who want a campaign/story/co-op....

....this co-op mode they're calling "Combined Arms" sounds a bit intriguing and I like the way they are putting this out as a sort of bridge safe haven to slowly move into the MP aspect. If anything it at least gives players another option besides the MP Only route.

...and for what little I read on the WWII theme...it's not going to be a per say traditional WWII setting....we'll just have to see but the game has now moved into my Considering Pile....

In light of no "ultimate edition", I wonder if more developers will adopt the "Rainbow 6: Siege" philosophy... $60 entry fee and $30/year to get a ton of new content. It works in that scenario but we may be too conditioned to expect a new campaign each year.

Wow, this might be the first year I buy a battlefield game - that looked incredible.

Finally one of these games with a co-op mode. My friend and I used to love to play those Special Ops missions that they used to have in COD last gen but got rid of.

I don't think that's the case. EA's new approach seems to be having one game with free map packs in hopes to bring more people in to spend money on loot crates and shit. Since they have already done it with Battlefront II & Titanfall 2 using the same model, it seems to be working.

Amen..and to this day World At War 4-player co-op on Veteran was one of the best times I had....

...maybe too early to celebrate or estimate numbers....but the BF vs COD has been around for years in it's own way. And funny how in the past, COD was always viewed as a solid all-in-one game with story/campaign, solo, co-op maybe and MP all rolled into one while BF was always looked at MP only....now the tables have turned and wonder how this plays out with players deciding which game...
\

...you looking at for XB or PS4?

What are the chances that game play footage was legit? I only ask because every year I'm wowed and then when the game is released, It's just lame to me.

I think that's the case with a lot of games especially when they first release details and that first one or two trailers....sort of like when a promising movie is announced and they put together the small highlights for a awesome trailer but the movie ends up sucking...same with games.

With E3 around the corner I hope to hear and see more on it. The trailer and what details we know is still very much new and sparse. But for me, the fact this will have a Story/Solo and co-op mode has got my attention. Still a lot of "Buts & Ifs" out there but we know more now than we did a few weeks ago.

I was browsing around some game sites and at Gamepur there's a article on.... 69 Battlefield V Details That Everyone Needs To Know

7. The health bar is in stages, only regen up to the closet stage not to 100 anymore
This doesn't sound good. It's already easy enough to die.

8. Physical interactions - every action in the game requires a player interact for things like medkits, spotting, ammo, ledge grabbing (example: healing requires walking over to a health pack, character animation to pick it up, then start healing)
Ugh. I hate this. Having to push a button to pick-up a health/ammo pack. Just give it to me when I run over it.

10. Much less ammo on spawn, out of ammo after a few fights, but more ways to resupply ammo in the battlefield from packs, crates, or grabbing small amounts of ammo off of bodies (all requires physical interactions)
I just want to have fun playing. I don't want to die all the time and keep worrying about scrounging health/ammo.

If people want limited ammo and no health regen, let them play hardcore mode. Don't make the regular mode more difficult.

re: Battlefield V - 11/20/18 (PS4, XB1, PC)

That was really impressive.....shame though as some game sites are refering to this getting "Titanfall 2 ED" treatment with other games coming out in October. Titanfall 2 was a solid game but they put it out smack in the middle of some other highly anticipated games and sales were effected. Both COD and Red Dead pre-sales are moving while BF has been behind. Shame since I played COD a lot for the SP, Campaign, co-op and some MP. Now it's going where BF was known for and BFV is going where COD was; SP, campaign, co-op and MP. I'd like to see and hear more on the campaign and co-op part but this looking good...

So I preordered digital copy at Amazon. Supposed to get a code for instant weapons in Battlefield 1. Haven’t received email or code...

Was that a physical copy or the digital code? I only see the digital code available. I believe that means there's no 20% off for Prime members on pre-orders then, yes? Or maybe that just plain went away.

I had to download the Early Enlister pack from the PS store to get the weapons. Not sure what you do on XBox.

Sounds like this game is going to struggle with sales out of the gate

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2018/08/20/...re-orders.html

I wonder if this also has to do with the chief design officer of DICE leaving

I don't think anybody is going to stop playing Fortnight for this or almost any other game. The addictive nature of that game is unlike anything I've seen... if a game can get my daughter and her friends to care about video games, it's in a league of its own.

Don't know but come October it will be interesting to see...and somewhat sad...how the games will do. You have Spider Man & Destiny's The Forsaken in September but October....WOW...Red Dead, COD, Battlefield and AC: Odyssey. All four of those are considered high valued games. Then throw in the Fortnites, Overwatchs, N1Z1s games that will be throwing out "Specials" to maintain their player base.

I looked at the game release schedule and I mean there is nothing in December except Just Cause 4. November has Fallout 76 with Hitman and Darksiders 3. Looking at the release schedule, both December and January are somewhat vacant though those are months hardly anyone wants to release games.

The game is on my radar mainly for the SP, Campaign and co-op part but I have friends who are getting Red Dead no matter what. I might not simply because I want Fallout 76 and no-way I can play two huge open world games with a RPG element to it. Same with Odyssey as it just looks fantastic. Something to fill that "Jump in...do a part, a mission...shoot'em up...get out"....

...if there might be a bright spot for BFV, it's a open Beta coming in September. That might sway some and/or play in their decision.

I'm interested, but not at full price. Just like Battlefield 1, the price is going to drop like a rock during Black Friday. I remember people being pissed that it got to $25 right outside of the return period last time.
