Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

I'm, somewhat surprised there wasn't an official thread for this but parts & pieces from E3 and other threads despite right around the corner from release...October 5, 2018. The month was already crowded with the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption II along with COD and Battlefield V which bumped to following month. Shame the game seems to be forecast to come behind the other which might be due to AC Fatigue with the still popular Origins from last year along with other games everyone has in their own backlog. But for those interested, links, trailer and info is below.

They also announced that there will be no new Assassin's Creed game next year, so it's nice to see them taking a break again. I guess that also means we'll probably see Watch Dogs 3 next year in it's place.

I wonder if the Remastered 3 will come with the King Washington DLC, that would be really cool.

The last major, and most surprising, addition to the season pass is Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, which fans will remember centers on the American Revolution. This remaster will be released in March 2019 and can be purchased outside of the season pass for an as-of-yet unannounced price. AC3 Remastered will include the core game and all its DLCs (the Benedict Arnold missions, Hidden Secrets Pack and Tyranny of King George).

Assassin’s Creed III Remastered will also include Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered, a game originally released on the PlayStation Vita. Both remastered games will feature 4K and HDR functionality on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and PC, higher resolution textures, a new graphics engine, other graphical enhancements and improved gameplay mechanics.

Can't believe that the $99.99 Gold Edition isn't even the complete edition as there will be an Ultimate Edition for $119.99 with some extra stuff that the Gold Edition lacks. That feels too greedy to me.

Yeah, Ubisoft is the worst publisher out there with all their different editions, fleecing fans.

And why a re-master of AC3? That one's widely considered the worst AC! Gimme a re-master of the Enzio trilogy!

At least that makes up my mind as to which version I'll get - that is, assuming the reviews are decent.
Reviews should be trickling in by now, no?

If Odyssey is even half as great as Origins, I'm all over it!
(though I'll be bummed if there's a ton of ship combat - I was never a big fan of that - I'm more into the the exploring/discovery aspects of these games)

Yeah, but is it a re-master that's only $20 extra? The cheapest I see is $26, and it hasn't been remastered.

It is a remaster. One with issues, but still a remastered title.

I got it for $19.99 last year on sale.

Okay, fine. Still, AC3 was the low point of the series, IMO.

Which character are you guys gonna play as?

Pretty sure I'll be playing Kassandra - besides the fact that, when given a choice, I almost always play a female character, I think her voice acting is far better than the male.

Acting comparisons for the same scene...

Spoiler:

Yeah, Kassandra all the way.

Alexios looks like Jeff Spicoli went straight from the audition to the mo-cap studio.

Yeah, she sounds way better.

I will probably do what I did last year. I again have a lot of discounted Microsoft spacebucks. I will wait until the Black Friday Sale and then by the Gold Edition at a discount. Last year I got AC Origins GOLD for $69.99 on 11/18/17. Totally worth waiting a month for a deal like that.

Re: Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

I know i started the thread and really hope I do end up getting the game...but being pressure to get Red Dead and in for Fallout 76. I wanted Origins really bad just for the historical view but with this even more so. I'm a sucker for both Guns & Sword stuff but given the choice the "Old Ways" of Sword, Bow & Spear are my choice. I'll see if anyhting creeps up between now and release but I'm with Decker, might wait and see if this pops up on sale come Black Friday...while playing Fallout 76.....

Hard choice on the characters but I'd lean to Kassandra...attractive but won't take crap from anyone.

Re: Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

Yeah, even if I get it on release date, I won't be able to play it for at least a few weeks, and that's not to mention the backlog of games I already have.

I swear, nothing over the summer, then boom, all these games, all at once. Not cool, game industry, not cool at all - don't they realize these unbalanced release schedules lobotomizes their own sales?

Re: Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

Major Spoiler Alert !!!!

This video is the end game "Medussa Mission and Boss Fight"...near Level 50. It is the complete part and walk thru. It sounds like this is a optional mission. It does show off various parts of the game , fighting, loot, ship, NP conversations, assassination.....shows the Boss Battle which starts at the 29 Minute Mark. Up to that point, it's various parts to do before you confront Medussa.

Re: Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

Tons of solid reviews coming in!

I was hoping for "as good as Origins", but the consensus seems to be that it's actually BETTER than Origins! So stoked!!!
Now if I only had the time to play it...

Re: Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

Just pre-ordered this game because of the reviews. Was going to hold off for a bit but I was not able to win out. With the sizes of this game and the forthcoming RDR2, along with a nearly full 2tb external hdd, I also put in an order for a 4tb hdd. I guess I will spend a week copying files between the two.

I loved the last game and this looks amazing..but with it coming out on Friday, I just will not have time to finish it up 100% (and I will want to do that) before Red Dead comes out.

Re: Assassins Creed: Odyssey - 10/05/2018

Because Origins was so great, I'm looking more forward to this than RDR2. I liked the last RDR fine, but I didn't love it or anything, and found a lot of it a little boring. It's fine and all, but I honestly don't understand the level of praise it gets.
