American Horror Story: Apocalypse (FX) -- Season 8 Thread -- Premieres 9/12/18
After Ryan Murphy teased that the next season of American Horror Story would take place in the near-distant future, the four-time Emmy-winning TV series creator announced on social that season 8 will indeed be a crossover of season 1’s “Murder House” and season 3’s “Coven”.
Season 1 took place in a haunted house in Los Angeles, while season 3’s AHS setting was a gifted young girls boarding school in New Orleans.
Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Kathy Bates are returning for season 8. Paulson played medium Billie Dean Howard in the “Murder House” season, a part which she reprised in AHS fifth season “Hotel”. In “Coven”, Paulson played Miss Robichaux’s Academy headmistress Cordelia Foxx.
Peters played murderous teen Tate Langdon in “Murder House” and frat president Kyle Spencer in “Coven.” Bates joined AHS during “Coven” as socialite Madame Delphine LaLaurie, who was a serial killer known for murdering and torturing her black slaves.

Re: AHS Season 8 — Murder House / Coven crossover - News, rumors
The cast of American Horror Story: Apocalypse is coming together.
Exec producer Ryan Murphy announced that Coven favorites Stevie Nicks, Taissa Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe and Frances Conroy would all be returning for season eight, subtitled Apocalypse.
The season is the long-awaited crossover between Murder House and Coven.
Nicks guest-stars in Coven as herself. Rabe plays Misty Day, who was largely influenced by the iconic singer. Farmiga and Sidibe play witches Zoe and Queenie. Conroy is Myrtle Snow, the eccentric head of the Witches' Council. The news comes days after Murphy revealed he invited all of the Coven witches back to return for the upcoming eighth season.
Jessica Lange will reprise her original American Horror Story role of the tragic and intrusive Constance Langdon. The character was last seen taking custody of her neighbors' satanic offspring, also playing a part in the new cycle. Cody Fern (American Crime Story: Versace) will take on the role of Michael Langdon, the evil baby from season one.
Sarah Paulson will reprise both her Coven and Murder House characters, and direct the episode in which her longtime friend and former co-star Lange would return (episode six).
The Apocalypse cast also includes Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourd, while Joan Collins joins as one very high-profile addition. Paulson also made it clear that she would primarily be playing her role from Coven, New Orleans witch Cordelia Foxx, also appearing as Murder House (and, briefly, Hotel's) medium Billie Dean Howard. Roberts is also playing her Coven role, Madison Montgomery.
Apocalypse premieres Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.

Re: AHS Season 8 — Murder House / Coven crossover - News, rumors
Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott are returning to American Horror Story for the highly anticipated Murder House-Coven crossover, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Britton and McDermott's comebacks to the FX franchise mark two more key castings in what is shaping up to be an all-star eighth season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's FX horror anthology.
The actors played husband and wife Ben and Vivien Harmon in the first season, Murder House, which saw the pair moving into the haunted house at the center of the inaugural cycle with their daughter, played by Taissa Farmiga. McDermott also appeared in season two, Asylum, playing a different character; Britton only appeared in the first season.
A video purporting to be from the set of Apocalypse leaked on social media on Wednesday and showed McDermott on the Murder House set.
The upcoming season, titled Apocalypse, will feature the long-promised crossover of Murder House with season three's Coven and will see a slew of familiar franchise faces returning to reprise their roles. Farmiga, who also appeared in Coven, is already confirmed to return, along with the entire Coven of witches that includes Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Lile Rabe, Stevie Nicks, Frances Conroy and Jessica Lange.
Britton played a key role in birthing the Antichrist baby Michael Langdon, who will be played by newcomer Cody Fern in the upcoming season.
The Wrap was first to report the news; THR has reached out to FX.

I'm so looking forward to this. Especially after the last couple disappointing seasons mostly filled with newcomers.

I suppose I could look this up, but do we have a running time for the first episode yet? Season premieres of AHS can run long sometimes. I don't want to start at 10PM not knowing it goes all the way till 11:45.

So far no appearance of any Murder House or Coven characters from what I can tell. Hope they don't spend too much time in that bunker.
Not even a preview for the next episode though???

re: American Horror Story: Apocalypse (FX) -- Season 8 Thread -- Premieres 9/12/18
The premiere didn't do much for me. The post-apocalyptic teen romance made this feel like a lame YA adaption at times. Paulson played her role like a caricature of the housekeeper from Hitchcock's Rebecca and it just didn't work for me. It's also tiresome to see Leslie Grossman back as the same type of superficial twat she played last season. Ugh.
I'll keep watching to see the returning characters from Murder House and Coven, but it feels like this show has really gone off the rails. It used to be my favorite thing on TV, but Roanoke was a slog to get through. The writers seemed to think they were more clever than they were with the "show within a show" angle. Cult was an improvement, but not something I'd ever care to revisit.
BTW, the guy that showed up at the end was named Langdon. So obviously

The pre-credits sequence was fantastic. Then yeah, a total slog. But it looks like they've gone through their food supply so we won't be spending a season in the shelter.
