They better do the thing. Mix shit up.

Also there are reports that ABC is working on the deal for this for S6.

If this show is affected by the end of Avengers: Infinity War, I'm curious how it could come back in the fall well ahead of Avengers 4 and not spoil things for that movie. Thoughts?

I'm not entirely sure they're going to bring it back. Ratings are pretty bad with the last few being worse than Inhumans. But if they did, I could see this show not coming back until after Avengers 4. Maybe they'll do a 10 episode run in the summer.

1. It would get a reduced order of 6 episodes and won’t premiere until late April. Start with half the cast missing and then once A4 premieres have them come back.
2. Two hour movie finale.
3. It won’t be back.

They keep talking about the events in NYC, so the events of IW would almost have to happen at some point, most likely right at the end after the main story is resolved. But that's hardly going to be a satisfying conclusion to the series.

Maybe they'll do some sort of side story/prequel (Marvel's Most Wanted, maybe?) in the Fall/Winter and the main show will come back for a shortened spring/summer season?

4. Nobody important gets dusted. Or, at least, series regulars. So the ones who get dusted will be folks like Piper, Kim, Davis (those anonymous agents in the background), Robin, Polly, Creel, Talbot, and Deke.

5. Gemma and Mack get dusted (along with a number of other minor characters), and Fitz, who has been shown to be a bit mentally unstable in recent episodes, starts hallucinating them. Which would keep Elizabeth Henstridge and Henry Simmons on the show until they're ready to bring them back.

Anything they do post-dusting will be seen as a spoiler simply because it will mean that the big reset button we all know is coming won't erase the entire event, but only restore what was lost.

Unless they erase the entire season, but then what's the point of even making it?

They've painted themselves into a corner with this one. Should have not mentioned any of the events in IW at all.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (S5E21) -- "The Force of Gravity" -- 5/11/18

The network has handed out an abbreviated 13-episode sixth season renewal to Marvel's Clark Gregg drama to Agents of SHIELD. The series, which marked Marvel Television's first live-action scripted drama before the comic book powerhouse spread its wings to cable and streaming, had run 22 episodes a season for its first five runs and is nearing its endgame. A decision about a potential final season has not yet been determined for the perpetual bubble drama.

Great news. I'm assuming they will plan for this to be the last one, which they should.

I wonder if it will air in the Fall or midseason to time it closer to the launch of Avengers 4.

I don't see how they wouldn't hold it until the spring. I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Season 5 should be on Netflix this summer. I know you said you dropped it for whatever reason, now do you have any interest in catching up for what is likely the final season?

Yea. If I have time this summer I'll try and rewatch what I saw already and catch up on what I missed. I should be able to get through more easily as a binge.

I've enjoyed the hell out of this show, as well as Gotham. Sad to see both going away soon, and with truncated endings to boot. Hopefully ABC will come up with something of equal or greater quality moving forward, but after the train wreck that was Inhumans, I'm not holding my breath.

Maybe we'll see Cap finally show up next season and sign Coulson's cards.

Actually, it's not returning until summer 2019. Ouch.

Maybe I can catch up on the past few seasons by then.

I would guess the reason for that is to coincide with Avengers 4

I guess that answers the question on Avengers 4 overlap.

Makes sense.

The show has got to be done after this. End with Phase 3. ABC needs to look at other Marvel shows.

Also... did the Most Wanted pilot ever leak? I would want to check that out.

Yeah, having a summer date almost confirms the thing is going to happen.

Dungey also made clear that the upcoming season is not envisioned as a series ender.

“I feel the season we just had was creatively the strongest yet,” she told attendees. We don’t plan it as a final season. The show has a loyal passionate base. It does incredibly well in delayed viewing.

By putting it on the summer we feel we can super-serve the show’s audience and possibly have it on the air longer,” she added.
I do agree that this would most likely do better as a summer show.
