What Are You Reading? (April 2018)

Re: What Are You Reading? (April 2018)
Well ... what did you think? This is on my "to read" shelf, but I probably won't get around to it until the summer.
Finished:
These books are good light reading. Though I can imagine the formula getting old after a point. But so far its fresh enough (I'm 6 books in) that Butcher is able to keep progressing characters and expanding upon the world in each book.

I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised/entertained. Weir seems to be trying too hard to write the book in a way so it could easily be turned into a screen play.

I liked it! A difficult book to classify, it's part prison melodrama, part mystery, part courtroom drama, and part ghost story. One thing it's not is a zombie book like the author's previous "The Girl with all the Gifts" (and that failing seems to be the reason why some on Goodreads are trashing this). The book structure (very short chapters) makes for fast reading, and the author does a great job at bringing characters to life.
