Image problem connecting HDDVD player to projector

Aloha,
I just woke up from my 10 years of hibernation and unearthed all my HDDVDs along with 2 fully intact Toshiba HD DVD players. However, connecting them to my Optoma DLP projector via HDMI always results in a messed up green/violet image. Neither the projector, cables, ports or players are broken. If I hook up the players to a regular flat screen via HDMI, no problems. If I stream or hook up my BD player to the projector via the same HDMI cable/port, no issues of whatsoever. I looked into every possible settings option on both the player's and the projector's end. I searched the web before posting here. No dice.

Any idea why this happens or better, how to fix this?

Have you tried a different cable?

yes. problem remains the same. Like I said, it is not a problem of a broken component (player, projector, cable, discs).

It seems like a HDMI handshake issue, you could try:

And one other question, do you have the latest firmware on those HD DVD players?

I had to use a Dr. HDMI to get my HD-A35 to work with my Marantz receiver.

I have to look further into the Dr HDMI thing. Straight out of the box, plug & play doesn't work. But there must be programmable settings. When I have time...

I had to email them, but they sent me a file to load into it which worked.
