Psych: The Movie
‘Psych’ Reunion: Cast Reuniting for Holiday Movie on USA Network in December
TV Reporter Elizabeth Wagmeister @EWagmeister
MAY 8, 2017 | 02:32PM PT
USA Network has staged a “Psych” reunion.
The original cast and creator are returning for a two-hour holiday movie, “Psych: The Movie,” this December, Variety has learned.
The news comes more than three years after “Psych” went off the air in spring 2014, after airing for eight seasons and more than 120 episodes.
In “Psych: The Movie,” fake psychic detective Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and his best friend, Burton “Gus” Guster (Dulé Hill), will team up once again. Lassiter (Timothy Omundson), Juliet (Maggie Lawson), Henry (Corbin Bernsen) and Chief Vick (Kirsten Nelson) will also return for the movie, which picks up three years after the series finale. The friends, along with some returning fan-favorite characters, come together during the holidays after a mystery assailant targets one of their own.
“‘Psych’ is a beloved part of our USA family, and what better time to reunite with family than the holidays.” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “Steve and James have taken the unique brand of comedy that the series honed over eight seasons and packed it in to a two-hour movie that successfully rekindles one of the greatest bro-mances in television history.”
“‘Psych’ has an absolutely phenomenal and constantly refreshing fan base. We couldn’t be more thrilled to gift our Psych-os this holiday season with ‘Psych: The Movie,'” added Jeff Wachtel, Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, and President, Universal Cable Productions. “Steve, James, Dulé and the rest of the gang are all returning for a delightful holiday movie that will not – nay, dare not – disappoint!”
“Psych” creator Steve Franks will direct the movie, which he co-wrote with Roday. They will both executive produce with Hill, and Chris Henze and Kelly Kulchak of Tagline Pictures. Universal Cable Productions is the studio.
“Psych: The Movie” goes into production on May 24.

Great news! I was thinking for a while there that the only hope for reunions were random James Roday directed movies (ie: Gravy)

Also, there's been a rumor going around that Timothy Omundson had a stroke the other day, still haven't heard anything clarifying that.

This is amazing news. I just started my rewatch of the series last week and was wondering what ever happened to the cast.
This show still holds up and is as funny as I remember it years later.

Yeah that was already long filmed, Deadline clarified and said it was a "mild stroke" but he still hasn't hopped back on Twitter outside of a couple incomprehensible replies.
The script is being adjusted to accommodate Omundson who is recovering after a mild stroke.

Chuck alum Zachary Levi has joined the cast of Psych: The Movie, USA Network’s two-hour holiday movie based on the hit series Psych.
Levi will play Thin White Duke, a ruthless, mysterious and dashing villain of the highest order.

The screening was pretty packed tonight. We were treated to filmed cast interviews and the Pitch Perfect 3 promo tie-in before the movie started. Afterwards, the cast of the film including Zachary Levi did a Q&A.
They also has trivia contests where you could win Psych and USA prizes. I ended up getting a pineapple cup along with pineapple glasses.
A very fun night for me along with all the Psych-os in attendance.
Oh, and in regards to the actual movie. They are all back including some fantastic suprises. It also allows the characters to grow even more as people. I don't wanna post spoilers but fans won't be too disappointed this Thursday night.

Looking forward to this. Was a fan of the show from Day 1 and really miss USA's "blue skies" programming (Psych, Dead Zone, Monk). I don't think I've watched the network in a few years once it turned into edgy crap - aside from Suits.

Anybody else watch it yet?
I think a 2 hour movie was a bit much, but the 2nd half was my good ol' Psych. Nice that Timothy Omundson was able to make a cameo - gotta love Lassie. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery, and they can make more of these.

Re: Psych: The Movie
Finally watched it tonight (I had to catch up on the series and ION ran the series finale this morning). It took a minute to get going but I enjoyed it overall. I don't know that I buy Juliet suddenly cutting corners at her job but okay. How old is the chief's daughter supposed to be? Wasn't she born halfway through the first season of the show?
The dream sequences was out of control. Gus as Prince and Juliet as Princess Leia complete with an appearance by Mary and a pony. How do they think of this stuff?
