Call of Duty: WWII (11/3/17; PC/PS4/XB1)

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/XTPhUavRfgY?ecver=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

...or, if you don't feel like suffering through a 15 minute long YouTube video, RUMOR: Art work suggest COD 2017 will be called ‘Call of Duty: WWII’

No idea how much stock to put in this, but it does jive with Activision's COO saying that 2017's Call of Duty would mark a return to the series' roots.

Trust me, it's not a rumor.

I posted some info on it last year back in the Infinite Warefare thread.

No, it's been in development for years now. Battlefield just beat them to the punch. And it's also different wars.

To this day I still look at COD 2 & 3 has having a blast. COD3 with the D-Day landing was like a scene out of Saving Private Ryan. Playing characters on all fronts, American, British, French and Russian was fun. Even the COD Modern Warfare series was fun without getting too over-the-top with futuristic stuff. And World At War was one of the best bringing back 4-player co-op for the story.Going back to their roots for the current consoles would be great.

It's funny how these game settings go in cycles.

I still don't think battlefield is on par with COD at all and this is coming from a guy who has fallen off COD big time over the years.

Infinite Warfare sparked my interest again and as mattysemo said....it's been known for a while now that this is where COD was going back to (even before IW was released) the only uncertainty for a bit was whether is was going to be WWII or Vietnam.

I was just telling my brother in law that I miss all the WW2 shooters that were on PS2. The newer stuff just doesn't hold my interest at all.

On one hand, I'm glad they're not trying to mimic Halo or Tribes anymore.

On the other hand, another WWII shooter doesn't instill a bunch of excitement from me for some reason. Must have gotten my fill back in the day.

I think I dig the modern day renditions the best overall, the Red Dawn and 24 seasons.

re: Call of Duty: WWII (11/3/17; PC/PS4/XB1)

As someone who sticks to multiplayer, I'm going to need more than just a reveal at this point. After the poor reception of Infinite Warfare (more people play Modern Warfare: Remastered, Black Ops III, and Black Ops II online than IW), I'm going to need more than just boots on the ground multiplayer in a WWII setting.

Infinite Warfare is plagued with frame rate drops and constant server issues such as severe lag and packet loss. This is on top of the fact the game has turned into "pay to play" with OP weapons only being available in Supply Drops.

Yet the same company put out Overwatch which has had terrific post-launch content and support. Any "loot box" that one would purchase is cosmetic only and they're fairly easy to get in the game unlike Infinite Warfare's crappy system.

Meh, I still have not played Modern Warfare at all, because it's so "slow." I love the science fiction angle of COD since Advanced Warfare.

re: Call of Duty: WWII (11/3/17; PC/PS4/XB1)

I've been playing multiplayer since CoD3, and together online with my friend since Blops. Both of us skipped IW and are psyched to go back to "slow" Call of Duty!

I've been playing a lot of BO2 lately now that its BC.

I welcome this change to multiplayer immensely.

If you're talking about the remaster - I think you should play it - I was just like you. I wouldn't stick with it cause it's much slower but now after only playing it for a while - I can never go back to the other style.

I'm not saying I don't like the fast pace, that's fine but the jumping/double jumping and wall running shit has to go for sure.

The remaster is excellent - at least play through the campaign.

It looks amazing... it also looks like we've been there, done that. Not sure I'll dive back into this series just based on going back to WWII but at least it's not Space Wars II.

I look forward to renting and playing through the campaign, just like the past couple years.

That looked amazing. Day 1 for me, even though it will probably go untouched for months...

No World at War remaster? That and MW2 were the pinnacle for me.

World at War was a Treyarch game, so that might be included with their release next year.
