Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. ( iOS/Android)

Animal Crossing’s first mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, will launch in late November, Nintendo announced during a Direct presentation about the project. Pre-registration for the game is available on both iOS and Android now.

In Pocket Camp, players manage their own campsite. They can personalize and build up both their character and their campsite, which they decorate with a variety of buildings and furniture.

Furniture can be crafted through collectibles. This system works by visiting nearby “recreation sites,” doing favors for the animal inhabitants and collecting rewards. After that, players head on over to alpaca blacksmith Cyrus with their new crafting materials to create furniture.

Different animals have different furniture preferences, so creating and decorating the campsite with their ideal pieces will entice them to come visit the campsite and increase players’ “friendship level” with them.

That’s a new feature for the series, and players can now keep an eye on how much an animal likes them.

Cyrus can also be commissioned to build different amenities, like pools and new places to check out. These take some time for him to build, so no rush there.

Although players can go seek out materials on their own by visiting beaches and islands, the free-to-play game also has microtransactions.

Leaf Tickets can be traded for materials or to speed up the time it takes to build an amenity, and players can either earn them in-game or buy them with real money from the shop.

A more familiar feature in Pocket Camp is fishing, which now has a nice addition: Players can use a net to catch a whole bunch of fish at one time.

Fish can be used as crafting materials as well. There are other Animal Crossing mainstays, too: The game runs in real time, Timmy and Tommy Nook run the Nookling Global shop and Able Sisters to Go is a fast-fashion version of the classic clothing store. Kicks, the shoe store, is also back.

There will be seasonal events spread throughout the year that offer limited-time decorations and outfits too.

And best of all? Players have their own camper that they can customize and upgrade, inside and out. But they’ve still got a mortgage to pay off, although instead of owing Tom Nook, they’ll owe thousands of bells to a trio of penguin brothers.

A multiplayer feature lets players exchange ID numbers to visit each others campsites. They can make friends or even offer up some kudos if their campsite is especially inspiring.

First announced in spring 2016, Nintendo originally planned to release the Animal Crossing game for smartphones sometime before that year was up. The release of Super Mario Run that fall, however, caused the company to move the rest of its schedule around.

While Fire Emblem Heroes arrived before March 2017 — the initial launch window for Nintendo’s first mobile game trio — Animal Crossing’s smartphone debut was delayed twice over.

Prior to this, the franchise’s most recent installment was Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival for Wii U. The party game wasn’t exactly well-received; neither was the spinoff that directly preceded it, the Nintendo 3DS game Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

A full-fledged Animal Crossing game for Switch, meanwhile, remains but a dream.

Just got signed up. I'll be playing on Android.

So far its a lot like the Wii version which is awesome!

Anyone know if you have to have a current/active Nintendo console to link a Nintendo account? Have not fired up the Wii in ages. Never got the Wii2 or the Switch and don't plan on buying either.

My daughter loves animal crossing, and even the mario party-like game and the home designer game. But mobile and always connected is a no go, she doesn't have a smart phone and won't get one for a few years. Oh well.

Guess the servers are overwhelmed like when Pokemon Go launched because I can’t get in either.

I started playing last night, and did my daily task. So far it's pretty cool. I hoping the in app purchases don't hamper the game play.

My code is 77090649434

I added milo bloom, and Kelkee.

Re: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. ( iOS/Android)

This has reignited my desire for an Animal Crossing on the Switch.

So far, I would be having much more fun with this if I wasn't constantly dealing with loading screens for everything I do. This is compounded by the fact that half the time I'm going to get a server error message.

Where in heaven's name are the cherry trees? I have looked all over and can't seem to find them.

Cherries should be in Breezy Hollow and Lost Lure.

Who else remember when we had a pretty active community going for the Nintendo DS version?

So far I like it. I was worried they weren't going to include holidays considering they didn't do anything with Thanksgiving and how there only seems to be one international version of the game.

I think they have the collecting down pat but it is missing some of the little touches. Like the museum and writing letter and such. But so far so good.

Some tips I've found. Craft all the different types of tents first because now I'm losing friend points because I've maxed out on some animal friends that don't match the style I picked. With the jingle stuff craft the ones that you get material back for first.

I believe the points stack up for capped animals. But cant be sure.

So once you level up the tent, the points in reserve will start a windfall of leveling.

I didn’t last long with this one. I still enjoy the 3DS game, but this one just didn’t grab me.

Yeah, I'll log in once a day but not much else.

I was hoping the gardening would be a vegetable garden instead of just flowers. Maybe clothes crafting will be worth bothering with.

Added Tanman and lwhy.

I never got a DS so I had been waiting for this. The upgrades so far have been great.
And since they can add more to it at any time this has potential.

I have Blue Tulip now in my garden if anyone needs to xpollinate.

Anyone who stopped I would urge you give this a second try.

Significant improvements have been made all around and the first fishing tournament is now going on.

Re: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. ( iOS/Android)

I'm embarrassed to say that I still play this every day. I check in the morning when I get up, and do the exchanges with the animals just before they switch out, then do them again with the new batch that move in. Then I do something similar in the evening, used to be 6am/6pm for me, now it's 7am/7pm after the daylight savings change.

There really isn't much else to the game other than these occasional "competitions" to catch butterflies, ladybugs, and now fishing. With the butterflies/ladybugs, it was excrutiating since you could plant 20 fresh flowers, spawn 10 butterflies, and then catch only 2 or 3 of them. It's hard to say whether this fishing tournament will be more fun, but at least the catch rate is 100%.

Even with playing 30 minutes or so each day, I think half of my Animals are at max 20 level, so I don't bother interacting with them when they show up which is saving me some play time at least.

But there must be some reason that I keep playing.

I haven’t logged in for like a month. It got too repetitive. Maybe I’ll try again this weekend.
