Kino Studio Classics BOGO at TCM (ends Oct. 2) and Deep Discount

Just got an email about this. Still no match for Kino's big summer sale this year, but for TCM it's not bad, especially if you search out the handful of $11.95 titles (which are mostly noirs). Average price is $22.46 and the list includes many new releases. Not sure if shipping kills it or not, though:

Or, priced low to high:

Without looking, I would guess shipping definitely kills the deal.

yup. unless you get the 11.95 noirs (which I already have), shipping makes these expensive. sigh.

The noirs are a great deal though. I got:

99 River Street
A Kiss Before Dying
Cry of the City
Daisy Kenyon
I Wake Up Screaming
Pitfall
The Captive City
The House on 92nd Street

For $7.50 each shipped. I already have Roadhouse, Lifeboat, and Boomerang! or I would have picked those up too.

Took a closer look. Shipping is $4.95 for the first item, $1.00 for each additional item. On the noirs (which I likewise already own), that results in prices equal to or better than Kino's previous sales: approx. $8.95 each, shipped, if you buy two; approx. $7.30 each if you buy 12. On the newer, pricier titles, I think I can wait til next year to see if KL repeats their big summer sale.

those 4 bob hope films for $36 is a great price. That's cheaper than when Kino had the big sale....

DDD has the David Selznick Blu-ray 5 pack for $52. That's cheaper than at Kino right now. About $10 a film for some classics.

And the hits [to my wallet] just keep on comin'!

I'm confident now that these sales happen frequently enough -- somewhere -- that no one should ever have to pay more than about $10-11 for a KL Studio Classics disc ever again. Nice that the DD sale also includes a lot of the Scorpion titles, too.

And here I figured I'd have to wait until next year to get all the new titles released since the last sale!

Any chance a moderator could add "and Deep Discount" to the thread title?

Re: Kino Studio Classics BOGO at TCM (ends Oct. 2)

Is there a coupon code needed on the TCM site ? The BOGO is not applying in the cart

EDIT: Sure enough, you need to enter 'BOGO' as a coupon code - am I blind ? where does it say it ?

Just checked my email from them, and it's there. Didn't think to include it in the original post because I assumed it was on the site as well.

Deep Discount definitely has the better deal, although you need at least four titles to get the free shipping.

Anyways, my haul from DD:

Dimension 5
Cyborg 2087
SpaceCamp
Krakatoa, East of Java
Adventures of Captain Marvel
Tobor the Great
Prime Cut
Killer Force (1975) (AKA: The Diamond Mercenaries)
The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane
Fixed Bayonets
The Lodger
The Undying Monster
Hell in the Pacific
The Devil's Brigade

I have 8 titles in my cart, S/H is 11.95 + damned CA tax. Averages to $8 per title for $11.95 priced Noir titles. Some of those Noir titles are $20.99 before BOGO on DD. So its a mixed bag for deriving value from either sale

$8.00 each for those noirs is still a great price! My rudimentary calculations up above put the post-shipping price of those between $7.30 and $8.95, depending on how many you buy, which seems like a very fair range. I bought all of them in previous KL sales (at various sites) for between $10 and $13. Sigh...

Their aren't that many for me this time, especially of the lower priced ones. Same on the dd sale. That would have been free ship, but their was only 1 $18 I needed, & 3 $21's. And all 4 would have been upgrades from decent dvd's.

Don't forget that KL is having a Halloween sale starting a week from today. If it's anything like their September sale, most titles will be hovering around the $9 range.

Just saw they charge shipping so the DD is the better deal for my only buying 2 titles

How many of the titles will be $9?

I know for sure I am interested in Dr. Goldfoot, Captian Marvel, What a Way to Go and maybe a few more so

Yeah I'm holding out for that one. Kinda went nutzoid on the TT title sale not too long ago.

I'd like to see a really good sale on the regular Kino titles; their are a few of interest at the moment.

Very true. I hope they've been bitten by the direct sales bug and do it again, but this is in a context of their "sales" traditionally being, err, unimpressive. About 1/3 of the titles I'm eyeing aren't strictly genre films, so will probably go ahead and buy from DD.
