Season 4 ended as a self contained season, however I think it would be kind of hard to jump in now. A lot of plot and character developments transpired from seasons 2-4.

I was tired and wasn't fully concentrating on the show, but I guess...
The episode felt kinda surreal. Like everything was in a haze.

The actress is an integral part of the season and will be shown in flashbacks. Her fate, however, is as the show depicts. We don't know the definitive cause yet, as well as a lot of other things we don't know yet. There was a 10 month jump, and the flashbacks show us things that happened during that time.

I think the cancer came back. How she copes and eventually succumbs to it will be revealed in later episodes.

I hate the idea that they're going to tease us with how she might have died for a while and then reveal it at some point. It's a cheap way at trying to drag an event/story line. Makes me not give a shit about the death.

Not a good start to the season. Didn't care about anything happening, and the "mysteries" were unengaging.
Looks like this is going to be another case of Showtime dragging a series out for far too many seasons.

So I guess it was a cancerous brain tumour that did Abby in.... which caused her to hear the "rats" and the music.
Glad we don't have to wait until the end to find out, but I really hope they're not going to continue to dedicate half of each episode to Abby's demise when 5-10 minutes per episode will suffice. Otherwise they'll be dragging this season along.

RIP Abby
I absolutely hated the character for the first 4 1/2 seasons. But towards the end of last season she became more tolerable.
Kind of a strange start to season 5 though.

I read an interview with the showrunner David Hollander, which was published after the premiere 2 weeks ago.
He confirms that this is indeed Paula Malcomson's final season, but she's still a credited series regular the entire season.
He said it was a creative to write her off the show to basically shake it up.
Also, for anyone curious about how much time past since season 4, it was 10 months. It was a little confusing with Connor being in military school and Terry and Maureen being engaged when they barely started hooking up in season 4.
It didn't even cross my mind until after finishing it that the new girl that Ray is working with is Lili Simmons from Banshee.
This little featurette aired after the episode last week. The cast talks about Malcomson leaving.

It's probably not a good idea to show up at your anger management therapy session with blood on your shirt.

Lili Simmons looked really good. Especially with the tight leather pants in her trailer.
Not surprised at all that Ray and Natalie started banging after their "Dogwalking" meeting. Ray couldn't take seeing the cancer eating away Abby.
Who wants to bet that Bunchy's investment is going to be a disaster?

Re: Ray Donovan (S5E04) -- "Sold" -- 8/27/17
I like the human side of Ray we're getting this season. It's not a huge outpouring of emotion. He's still pretty stoic. But, it's more than we've gotten on a consistent basis so far on the show (or at least in a long time).

Ray Donovan (S5E05) -- "Shabbos Goy" -- 9/10/17
Ray's therapy is at odds with the high-stakes power struggle between Sam and her opponents. Mickey - at Frank's behest - seeks out an old friend of the Donovan's. Meanwhile, Terry takes Damon to New York to train for a fight; Bunchy is confronted by sins from the Donovan past; and Bridget tries to reconcile with Smitty - until a major crisis forces them together.
Episode 5 of 12
Unfortunately episode 504 aired 2 weeks ago on the same night as the Game of Thrones finale, so obviously it was low priority viewing for most here. There was no episode last week.

Just catching up on this - after Bunchy talked to the guy at the sandwich shop, I got the impression that whoever was working that day was in on the robbery, so maybe he can find the money that way?
And why did Ray get sick and puke out of the car? I think I missed something.
