Re: The 13th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31) ***The List Threa

October 1

1. Mad In Italy (2011). FTV. Watched on DVR. An Italian horror with a psycho keeping a woman chained in his apartment while he looks for a job and kills the odd person.

A slow burn with not much happening. He does make the girl model an intestine he pulled out of someone earlier that day. 5/10.

2. The Night Shift (2016). FTV. Watched on DVD. A security guard is brought in to watch a house during the night. He doesn't know he is really there to be sacrifice for some demons.

A real boring piece of crap. They throw in a sex scene to help things but it doesn't help things. Avoid. 2.5/10.

3. Hisss (2010). FTV. Watched on DVR. A Bollywood horror where a man dying of brain cancer seeks out the Snake Goddess in hopes of obtaining immortality. She has resentments as to how he goes about it and transforms into a big ass cobra. Things get bad for everybody.

A pretty cheesy flick incorporating rubber and CGI for the effects. Of course you do get a dance number squeezed in. 4/10.

4. Moth (2016). FTV. Watched on DVD. A teacher and a student head off to the woods in search of Mothman.

An awful found footage flick where nothing happens until the last five minutes and even that is a let down. 3.5/10.

5. Noroi: The Curse (2005). FTV. Seen on DVR. An investigative journalist grabs his camera and begins to seek out the truth behind an ancient demon.

This one was done as a documentary put together from interviews and found footage. Creepy as hell and very well executed. This one blows away Blair Witch and The Poughkeepsie Tapes. In Japanese with subtitles. 6.5/10.

6. Strange Events (2017). FTV. Watched on DVD. An anthology horror flick with a couple good stories but most of them are predictable, regurgitated or just plain dumb. 4/10.

7. Perfidy (2014). FTV. Watched on DVR. A couple heads to the woods for some relaxation at the cottage but end up being targets of an ancient cult who wants their unborn child.

A Spanish horror that has no tension and zero scares. You might fall asleep watching this one. 3/10.

8. Paranoia Tapes (2017). FTV. Watched on DVD. A string of short found footage tapes put together in one sick offering. Lots of twisted and demented scenes that starts out strong then fizzles near the end. In the vein of V/H/S but definitely sicker. 5/10.

9. Edgar Allan Poe's Lighthouse Keeper (2016). FTV. Watched on DVD. A man wakes up on an island with a lighthouse and old man taking care of it. While trying to find a way off the island he discovers the hidden horrors of the place and who he really is.

A slow burner that reveals more as it goes along. It has a lot of the same themes from Poe's other work The Fall Of The House Of Usher. Vernon Wells plays the keeper. 5.5/10.
