... and a lot of geek famous actors. And yeah, most of the Firefly guys are there.

(How do I embed vimeo video?)

Looks good!

Looks great, but I have a slight bias in I'll watch about anything with Tudyk.

Looks good.

How autobiographical is this? It appears there's a lot of criticism and cynicism directed towards nerd culture.

It's all done with love. You can see the original Indiegogo pitch video:

So it's currently exclusively on Vimeo. The whole season is on sale for $14.99 currently, the price increases to $19.99 on 10/26:

There should be a DVD/ Blu-ray release later on, as those were one of the crowdfunding rewards.

It started a rental only but I got an email yesterday which said we could watch unlimited time. Worth the $15 to me.

I watched it. I was a bit underwhelmed. It was nice seeing all the cameos, but I only got a few chuckles out of it. I actually thought it picked up a bit near the last few episodes, and I wouldn't mind seeing a season 2, but man Tudyk plays a bit too much of the unlikable, whoa is me, type of guy.

re: Con Man - crowdsourced show from Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion (now on SyFy)

I'll be the one to say I outright hated the first season. If I could delete it from my Vimeo account, I would. Unlikeable is quite an understatement. It's entirely possible that my point of view is tainted since I've been working with conventions for going on a decade now, but it seemed like the entire series had an intense dislike for geek culture in general.

I'm a fan of Tudyk's other work (I think his work in Death At a Funeral is some of the funniest stuff I've seen in my life), so this was really a disappointment. There's no way I'd back a second season of this junk.

It had a rocky start, but once it hit the pool episodes and voice-over stuff it took off and didn't slow down. The last few episodes were amazingly funny.

I think your view is tainted. It's made with love/affection for conventions:

http://www.thehollywoodnews.com/2015...n-and-firefly/
Conventions look a lot of fun from the outside; how much do you enjoy them?

I enjoy them very much! The best things about conventions are the fans. I don’t know another place where people are as accepting and supporting of one another as at conventions. If you say ‘I’m Wonder Woman today’ and you put a Wonder Woman costume together, people are going to say ‘Yes you are Wonder Woman’ and people are going to want their picture taking with you. They’re just there to have a good time and support all the different projects that are there. They have love for them. And some people have connections to them. I’ve met so many people through Firefly who have had a struggle in life, possibly medical issues. They have a connection to your story, project or character that meant something to them. And soldiers, oh my god, soldiers, that were on the battlefield and then at night they’d watched Firefly… It’s just amazing. I actually get to bring a veteran in to touch on that (in Con Man). I’m sure a lot of people who go to these things have had the same experience, I know a lot of them have, so it’s great to be able to do that and show it in the world in a funny way too, so it’s light-hearted.
Other interviews:
http://www.hitfix.com/harpy/intervie...series-con-men
http://creativescreenwriting.com/alan-tudyks-con-man/

The main character, Wray Nerely, doesn't like conventions, but that's more a reflection of his insecurities than a statement about the conventions themselves.

re: Con Man - crowdsourced show from Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion (now on SyFy)

Con Man — “a celebration of sci-fi fandom,” starring Firefly alumni Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion — will bring said party to Syfy, which has acquired Seasons 1 and 2 of the web series.

The announcement was made on Friday evening during Syfy’s “Con Man: Cons and Fandom Culture” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, by creator, star and moderator Tudyk.

Set for a September Syfy premiere, the Emmy-nominated, short-form web series is loosely based on the post-Firefly careers of Tudyk and Fillion, following the journey of Wray Nerely, a washed-up, former sci-fi celebrity who revisits his glory days on the convention circuit, while Fillion’s character, Jack Moore, goes on to become an A-list celeb.
The complete first season will air on SyFy September 9th.

Re: Con Man - crowdsourced show from Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion (now on SyFy)

Wait, there was a second season?

In the commerical breaks for Game Face on Syfy this week, there were clips of a new interview between Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk about the show. So it may be worth rewatching on Syfy to see those clips.

Somewhat appropriately, Syfy is bookending the Season 1 marathon with showings of Serenity.

From this interview, it sounds like Syfy is testing the waters to pick it up for a 3rd season:
http://deadline.com/2017/08/alan-tud...ws-1202149453/
Syfy is taking over the seasons that exist. I think they’re going to see how it works—it’s a very different show for them. For years, before we even crowdfunded, I thought, “Oh, Syfy would be a great place,” but you look at their line-up and they have a lot of science fiction shows, but no shows about science fiction, not a lot of comedy.

....The fans that have seen it on these smaller platforms, it’s been such a great response, so I’m hoping that continues on Syfy. If it does, then I think you can expect to see more.

My listing shows odd numbered episodes, so it doesn't look like they will be showing the season.

My DVR listing shows that each half hour "episode" Syfy is airing is actually 2 episodes in one. The original episodes were 10-15 minutes each, so they can play two in each half-hour block.

Your listing is only showing the title of the first half of each half-hour block, the second half of each half hour will be the even numbered episodes.

Con Man definitely mocks sci-fi fans and the geek community in general. But there is enough funny stuff in it that I don't mind its skeptical take on fans.

It's weird the way they burned them off. Still, it should be available on-demand and via Syfy's viewing apps. You may also be able to stream them from the website:

Yeah...looks like no re-airings for at least the next two weeks, if it is not a super long investment of my time I will probably watch on demand this weekend.
