Shooter (USA) -- S: Ryan Phillippe -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 7/18/17

SHOOTER "The Hunting Party" - 10/9c *SEASON PREMIERE*

Bob Lee Swagger joins his former Marine unit for an awards ceremony in Frankfurt, Germany. There, he and his wife Julie narrowly escape a deadly terrorist attack. FBI Agent Nadine Memphis accepts a new job with powerful Washington insider Patricia Gregson.

10 episode 2nd season

The 1st season is now on Netflix for those who missed it. It did wrap up in a self contained season.

Ryan Phillippe suffered a severely broken leg offset and needs surgery.

It could impact the airing schedule. They are in the middle of shooting episode 9.

Pretty cool start. That shootout at the beginning in the hotel ballroom was pretty crazy.

I'm curious to see what's going on with this marine assassination plot. Just wondering for those who have read the Bob Lee Swagger books, is this a storyline from the books? Looks like Bob Lee and Johnson will end up working together.

Nice to see Jaina Lee Ortiz bounce back and get work after Rosewood got axed. I like the idea of her playing a badass marine.

Looks like Beverly D'Angelo is back as a regular for season 2.

Damn. They couldn't write it into the story somehow? Guess this will be the last season then...

The injury is pretty bad. He can't work and that's why they had to stop production. Apparently there is a natural end point where episode 8 works as a finale.

Who says it's the last season? Just because they have to stop filming it doesn't mean the show is doomed.

True. I was surprised it even came back for season 2. I guess that is why I'm thinking a shortened season would be a death sentence.

That sucks. This season is off to a great start. It's like Strike Back minus the sex or The Unit minus the annoying wives.

The story says they scrapped what they shot for episode 9. So if the show comes back for another season, they will have a completely new slate.

Probably wouldn't make sense to try to finish it since it was structured as the 9th episode as opposed to a premiere episode.

Episode 1 was great but episode 2 (save for a few scenes) was pretty disappointing. I'm not really interested in Bob's wife Julie and their kid.

Shame about the production halt. We'll technically get a longer season 3 but we'll have to wait til next summer to see it.

Why would season 3 be longer? That rarely (I would say never, but there's probably an example somewhere) happens in tv production, if any episodes are not produced they'll never be made up.

They scrapped episodes 9 and 10, so they're not carrying over. If it comes back in 2018, it will most likely be just 10 new episodes.

Only time. I recall seasons getting extended the following year after being cut short was 10 years ago after the writers strike.

I'm up to episode 6

Look it's not bad, villian is cool but i wish he had more accompliances other than gang members

I wish they took Swagger's wife and kid out of the equation (moved them permanently somewhere else), just getting sick of them being used as a weakness

I didn't mind some of the flashback scenes to the marines stuff better than most flashback stuff

I'll keep watching

Spoiler:
It was an abrupt ending for a final episode. It definitely is a cliffhanger. I can't see them not finishing this storyline.

That was a very abrupt ending, and I would have to agree, there is no chance they don't finish the storyline. It would make the season pointless.

I wasn't implying they were going to drop the storyline for this season. Since Ryan got hurt and they couldn't finish shooting episode 9 and then scrapped it, they have to continue in a different manner should they come back next year.

They probably had scripts written for 9 and 10 and now they have to re-write the next episode differently as a season opener now and resolve the story arc differently. For all we know, they planned to resolve this arc in season 2.

Okay. From this line:

I thought you meant the storyline would not be carrying over and that there would just be 10 new (as in new storyline) episodes.

That's great news, and going to Black Light for source is very cool! Although, there will have to be some changes from the book in order to be consistent with the previous 2 series.
