Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - BR / UHD (yes UHD) Aug. 22
This has been pretty much talked and hinted about for the last month or so, but yes Marvel did manage to get Disney to jump on board the UHD bandwagon. Street date is set for August 22. No word on if a 3D disc is also in the pipeline (it isn't mentioned on the UHD cover). Details will undoubtedly be forthcoming; but in the realm of things the 4K floodgates from Disney Home Video has just opened, and it will be interesting to see what new and (hopefully) catalog titles will be released as such.

I know one person who'll be happy - like Fox UHD releases Dolby Atmos sound has been confirmed; the standard bluray's are DTS HD MA 7.1 only

I'm getting a new home theater when we move into our next house in the next couple of months, and golly, it sure is a significant leap in price to go from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4! Atmos may have to wait a bit. 
GotG 2 is a likely contender for the first disc I watch on whatever I wind up with, though!

Now it's just a waiting game til next week when the official announcement will hopefully break down more info and who and if what online retailer is selling the 3D disc (if at all) - early indication was a 4K/3D combo pack pre-order from Amazon Canada that came and went but hasn't been cancelled
at the promo art. I can't unsee it anymore.

Happy this is happening, but scared to see the price point especially if its the full 4k steelbook. While I could rationalize near $40 for my Daredevil steelbooks (sold out, favorite character, import, etc), I'm not sure I can do the same for GOTG. *sigh*....we'll see.

Yes, it's true, & I am UNBELIEVABLY EXCITED to announce that, after a couple of years of me begging and pleading, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be coming to home video in 4K UltraHD. It will be the FIRST Disney release to be released this way.
4K UltraHD is almost certainly the best way you can see this movie at home - with more definition and the most vibrant colors possible on your home screen, and with the brightest brights and the blackest blacks. A being composed of light truly appears to be a being composed of light! This version is a roiling cinematic river of beauty and I've taken hundreds of hours personally making it look the best it can. This is one of the reasons why LIGHT and COLOR are such important elements of Vol. 2's story, and why we screened the World Premiere in Los Angeles in essentially this format.
And yes for those of you asking, there will also be a 3D home release.

Good news that we'll be getting a 3D release as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will be a retailer exclusive combo with the 3D and 4k.

Digital Bonus Content titled Meet the Ravagers and a poster. I don't know if the poster is exclusive to the 4K edition or to Target. Judging by the sticker on the case, it's to the format, not the retailer.
