I'll be getting the 4K UHD for this.
But, I'm sure there will be some retailer exclusive extra disc for the BD release.

The first in the series since the 4th film I did not see in theaters, so I will be picking this up most likely in 4K.

Really weird. That back of the artwork says the extended director's cut is a digital only exclusive.

Way better. A hell of a lot of fun. This is the epitome of fun, escapism entertainment. Shame you couldn't see it in the theater. It played so well on the big screen.

i wonder if the director's cut really is the originally rumored runtime of 160 minutes and Universal didn't have the room for it and didn't want to do a 2 bd set

See, I thought this was a bit of a comedown after the last 3.
Still fun though. I didn't think Gray's action sequences had quite the punch Wan's and Lin's, but that's minor griping. That news about the extended cut being digital exclusive blows. Maybe it was a last-minute addition and they didn't have time to encode it? It's about as annoying as Paramount's iTunes-only commentaries, but in both cases, I give them credit, I guess. at least the code at least comes with the disc.

Now there is a sticker on the cover art that says "Code inside unlocks 'extended director's cut' only on digital." So I think it's safe to say that only the BD is going to be theatrical only and the digital copy will have both versions.
