Some issues:
Free Comic Book Day is an annual event founded on the belief that for every person out there, there’s a comic book that they’ll love. Every first Saturday in May, the industry comes together to give away free comics and encourage fans, both old and new, to flock to the best place in the comic book community: local comic shops. These are the hubs of our community, where fans can come together and discover new comics, make lifelong friends, and find a sense of commonality.
Major publishers such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, and Image Comics put out free comics for fans to enjoy at the more than 2,300 local comic shops participating in Free Comic Book Day. There’s truly a book for everyone: from superheroes, to popular film and television shows, to beloved video games, and all-ages stories. Popular series from past years have included Bob’s Burgers, Doctor Who, Assassin’s Creed, and SpongeBob.
Fans also love dressing up in costume for Free Comic Book Day, showing off their favorite series. Many stores throw their own events, bringing in cosplayers, local comic book creators, and partner with local businesses to make Free Comic Book Day one of the best family events throughout the year.
Participating stores for Free Comic Book Day 2017 will be announced in March 2017. You can find your local comic shop now at comicshoplocator.com.

Lot of titles that my kids will be happy with, which I all I really care about in the FCBD department. Despite maintaining a pull list for nearly 20 years, I never even bothered going to FCBD before the kids were old enough to appreciate it. It always seemed like a bunch of junk to me.

It does seem to get more and more about independent comics and the kids' market each year. DC and Marvel don't seem as invested in the event as they once were.

I Hate Image looks cool. I'll check it out when it's available digitally. I'd check out the Tick too but those never go digital.

Anybodys local store doing anything exciting? My local store is bringing all the long boxes of back issues out and doing a dollar issue sale. Problem is, it's the same long boxes that they bring out every time there is a back issue sale.

My local shop has $1.00 bins and will be doing some sale on toys. They will also have Kevin Eastman signing autographs for $25 which goes towards a local charity.

Kevin Eastman would be worth it for me. I've grown a bit weary of the $1.00 bins as of late, unfortunately.

I'm going up to Minneapolis that day to see the guillermo del toro exhibit, luckily none of my local shops are doing anything interesting. There are a few books I'm curios to read, but I'll wait until they're up on Comixology.

I, too, have given up of local dollar bins any more.
Especially since there's a couple of dealers at C2E2 every year with crazy amounts of Bronze and Silver books for $1-5 a pop.

How'd everyone do today? I have to take and host a few pictures first, but shall return with that and my boring but productive day later.

My LCS had a limit of three issues--boo. So I got The Incal, Red Sonja, and Riverdale. They had other interesting stuff--and I have The Incal digitally--but I figured these would work for a quick read. I'll get any others if they appear digitally.
They had 30% off everything, but I get my Omniboo from IST, and most trades I just get digitally. They had three-for-$1 bins and some decent 50% off TPBs, but nothing I really needed. They had a couple cosplayers, including a female Captain America.
I'm sure I could get more issues visiting a store a little farther away, but it doesn't seem worth the trouble.

My local shop ran a limit of 5 books per person, but my 3 year-old counted. She got 6 and I got 4.
They also ran 50% off back issues, 20% off wall books, 30% off trades/omnis, and then had the "gaming arena" next door cleared out of the normal stuff and had 7 or 8 local artists set up. It was a pretty good time.

Had class all day saturday. By the time I got the my local shop, they had already put away all the stuff from FCBD. They even put away all the long boxes of back issues that were supposed to be on sale for the month. Maybe they sold them all.

I got to my store about an hour after they opened and it was still packed. They were out of the FCBD issue I wanted the most, The Tick, but I talked to the one guy that works there (that I actually went to high school with) and he was able to find one in the back for me so that was cool.
My store lets each person get 3 comics, so I got The Tick, Bongo and Rick and Morty (just recently started watching that show) and my 2 daughters each got 2 (Monster High, Animal Jam, Barbie and Descendants). It seemed like there were more kids comics, or at least recognizable franchises so they were happy with that.
My store has 20% off trades and $1 for all back issues in the bins. I used to love finding some $1 issues but I've since become a trade guy so I just find a trade for me and another for the kids.
