Read reviews from Variety and Hollywood Report. Apparently F. Gary Gary was an excellent choice for this franchise. Deciding whether to see it Thursday night or first show Friday.

Despite the fact that I've liked the last few films in the franchise I have very little desire to see this. The trailers just aren't reeling me in to wanting to see it. Might just wait for it to hit Blu-ray or one of the premium channels.

Well, Rotten Tomatoes is now showing 73%, but I see the same 5 reviews as when i did thread earlier when it was 40. So, who knows...

I've been skipping the trailers so I don't know what to expect in that regard. What I hope to see is something far better than 7. That movie was a fucking mess and such a letdown after how much fun 5 & 6 were.
Also the release date is wrong in the OP.

The plot twists suggest the kind of games that 11-year-old boys put together on the playground during recess, with women in peril and so many different parts for everyone to play that you begin to lose track of who everybody is.

Entertainment Weekly's reviewer gave it a B
She says it's funnier and lighter than previous installments.
I love the series. I will see it until the final film. Might not be able to catch it until Monday though.

How are you skipping the trailers if you are seeing a movie and it's shown beforehand?

In any event I always watch these movies but never in the theaters. I wait until free on one of the movie channels.

I know you didn't even bother reading the review, but she said the humor came mostly from Johnson and Statham's love-hate bromance in the movie.

As for "bothering" I was responding to your post, not the article, so why the hell would I read it? I didn't read Atlas, Shrugged either, but that has about as much relevance as what you just posted.

This movie is going to be review proof as far as me seeing it, although from the critic scores seems like it might continue the somewhat step down that 7 was for a lot of us after how great and fun 5 and 6 were. Oh well, the cast and stunts will inevitably make up for it regardless

The trailer makes it look like a Transformers movie. I kept expecting all those cars to join together to make one giant car monster or car robot. In fact, both franchises would improve drastically if they merged for at least one movie. I prefer Vin Diesel, The Rock and Statham over Mark Wahlberg any day.

Saw it last night in a smaller IMAX screen. My favorite movie of the series is still 5, but this comes really close. Enjoyable and entertaining. The audience in the theater seemed to agree.
Also, Roman is my spirit animal.

I was planning on seeing this at a Thursday night screening, but apparently Fandango changed the rules on their movie money. You used to be able to redeem them in advance, but now I literally can't even redeem the code until the 14th. I guess I'll try and sneak in a showing after work on Friday. Alternatively, if someone wants to send me a PM and buy my $8 movie cash code, I'll sell it for $4.

I'm surprised we didn't get any Thursday night posts from members who went to see it.

A solid entry in the franchise. Roman was the highlight for me.
Really do miss Brian, though.

I liked this one more than 7...and probably 6.
I really liked the Cuba location. I can't wait to get to travel there.
Statham was a blast in this, but I still don't buy the team getting over him killing Han. There were some good unexpected cameos I got a kick out of. I think it was a missed opportunity not having Letty take on more of a leadership role. Charlize was great in the limited role that she had. And is Kurt Russell the coolest mother fucker on the planet? I think so. A lot of humor in this one.
It is ridiculous though that these movies have turned into save the world superhero type movies... but they've built up to that. It didn't just happen over night. I liked that this film sort of references that.
I feel there should've been more than just the one line about Brian. But they probably didn't want to draw a bunch of attention to him and Mia not being involved. It is what it is.
The motivation for Dom was decent enough and really the only plausible thing that could motivate him. And it sets up Universal to
I look forward to continuing the SAGA.

I'm a big fan of this franchise...
And this was a fun entry. Roman is easily becoming my favorite character and I'm enjoying Hobbs, as well as Deckard a little more. I had a lot of fun during the movie and it was a good popcorn flick.
That said, the plot was kinda dumb with Cypher needing Dom so bad that she concocted this complex plan to get him to work for her. But, I can get past that, because why not? I hated what they did with Elena, though, and feel like Statham's character was more likeable, but he still killed Han and that's all but forgotten here.
However, my main beef, I find Dominic Toretto to be the least likeable "hero" of a long-running franchise ever. I've never been a huge fan of the character as it is, but I always had Brian to level him out because he was a likeable character. Don't get me wrong. I understand the need to save your son, but not at the expense of the entire world. We've got Dom running all over the earth stealing nukes, EMP's, and nuclear footballs because he wants to save his kid. This character has to be one of the most selfish leads I've ever seen. End rant.
I will continue to watch these as they churn them out, because I do enjoy them, but it's looking more and more like Fast Five was the pinnacle of this franchise.

I wound up seeing it last night. Overall it was better than I expected it to be. The plot was sort of dumb and predictable but that's not really the draw of these movies. The action was good overall. I thought Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham stole the show more than most of the original cast. Kurt Russell is a good addition too even though his part isn't very big. I sort of felt like his sidekick was meant to maybe step into the Brian role. Paul Walker definitely is missed. I don't mind Diesel but he's never been my favorite actor and the Dom character isn't one I've ever latched on to. Brian was always a bit more likable but obviously there's nothing they can do about that.
