April 02
01. House of the Black Death (1965)* (Jerry Warren Collection Volume 2)
The head of a coven (Lon Chaney Jr.) and a powerful black magician (John Carradine) fight for control of a family fortune. Jerry Warren adds some of his own scenes to another movie and gets this OK horror film. It's unclear why Warren was called in to beef things up but some of what he added is a little tedious while other parts are brilliantly bad. There's some belly dancing, both in the original and Warren's stuff, to keep things interesting. I really like the alternative title Blood of the Man Devil. 5/10

April 03
02. Horror of the Blood Monsters (1970)
A space ship caught in a solar flare is forced to land on an unknown planet to make repairs. Al Adamson mashup of his scenes with a Filipino caveman movie. John Carradine plays a somewhat cranky scientist while Robert Dix and Vicky Volante get to have electronic sex - once with the dial turned way way up! The atmosphere of the plant keeps changing colors due to bombardment by Spectrum Radiation. This movie full of cheesy crap like that. I love it. 6/10

April 04
03. Truck Stop Women (1974)* Blu-Ray
Claudia Jennings plays the ungrateful daughter of a truck stop owner who uses her business as a cover for prostitution and hijacking and now has to fight off a takeover by a big east coast syndicate. Lots of nifty country truck driving songs and even a truck music video randomly inserted around the middle. Lots of skin and outright nudity not to mention truck chases and gun play. The tone starts out lighthearted but ends tragically. 5.5/10

April 05
04. Private Duty Nurses (1971)* (Roger Corman's Cult Classics The Nurses Collection)
Three student nurses who room together get more involved with patients and doctors than duty calls for. Pretty good but a little sedate although there is a good bit of nudity and a little bit of action. Not as interesting as the other nurse movies I watched last year. 4.5/10

April 06
05. Bloodfist (1989)* (Bloodfist Collection Double Feature)
In his first starring role, Don 'The Dragon' Wilson plays a former American boxer who goes to Manila to find out who killed his brother and has to become a kickboxer and fight in a martial arts tournament in order to find the murderer. Entertaining but pretty standard stuff and some of the plot is just dumb. Most of the fighters are played by real martial artists. Vic Diaz plays a sleazy police detective. Produced by Roger Corman. 5/10

April 07
06. Wheels of Fire (1984)* Blu-Ray
In a post-nuke world the lone wanderer Trace and his macho car battles the evil Scourge and his seemingly endless army of brutes. Lots of action and boobs made me realize that Roger Corman + The Philippines = B-movie satisfaction. Nothing outstanding but pretty nifty Road Warrior clone. 5/10

April 08
07. Drop Out Wife (1972)* (Big Box of Wood)
A sexually frustrated woman leaves her husband and two children and moves in with a friend who convinces her to try a swinging lifestyle. Basically porn with sex scenes alternating with short conversations between the two women. The sex isn't great often featuring unappealing people and going on too long but the conversations clearly reveal the hand of Ed Wood who co-scripted and turn out to be the best parts of the movie. There is also a bit of a story here as Peggy, the lead, realizes what she has lost. 4/10
08. Santo Cotra el Rey del Crimen or Santo vs. the King of Crime (1962)*
Masked wrestler Santo battles an gambling syndicate which is rigging Jai alai contests and other sporting events. I like Santo movies and this was no exception. The film begins with an origin of sorts as we see the mask handed down from father to son. During this period Santo had a nifty basement lab and an Alfred like associate. He also gives a wrist radio to a police detective so he can be contacted at anytime. One and a half wresting matches. 6/10

April 09
09. Docks of New Orleans (1948)* (Charlie Chan Collection)
Charlie investigates the murder of one of the partners in a chemical company which is preparing a mysterious shipment to South America. Mediocre Chan film with no atmosphere at all not even using stock footage to establish the place. The mystery is OK but Roland Winters lacks the charm of Toler or Oland, although he seems to have kind of an edge to some of his sayings. Mantan Moreland provided a little enjoyment. 4.5/10
10. The Cowboy and the Indians (1949)* (Gene Autry Collection 2)
Gene discovers that Indians are grazing sheep on his newly purchased cattle ranch and when he tries to put a stop to it finds out that the Indians are being cheated by a local trading post owner and indifferent Washington officials. Good western, not as action packed as some and the resolution to the problem is simpleminded but it is a different take on Native Americans compared to most B-westerns. Gene sings "Here Comes Santa Claus" and both Jay Silverheels (who does not have to speak broken English) and Clayton Moore are in the cast. 6/10

April 10
11. Deadly Prey (1987)*
A mercenary outfit kidnaps men in order to hunt and kill them for training purposes. The latest victim turns out to be more than the mercs can handle. Beefy hunk Ted Prior (who poses a lot) plays the trouble maker in this The Most Dangerous Game meets Rambo film. This movie is stupid - full of stupid dialogue poorly delivered and an even stupider plot but it's a whole lot of fun and never, ever boring even if predictable. Some cool commando tricks too. 7/10

April 11
12. The Wild World of Batwoman (1966)* (Jerry Warren Collection Volume 1)
Crime fighter Batwoman and her gang of Batgirls take on the evil Ratfink who is out to steal an atomic hearing aid. A spoof of the Batman TV show (so a spoof of a spoof) captures the earnestness of Adam West without much of the fun. A few spots drag a little and it's not all that funny but it's not a chore to watch and I did get one or two chuckles out of it. Mostly original but Warren does recycle some clips from other movies, most noticeably The Mole People. 4.5/10

April 12
13. Super Soul Brother aka The Six Thousand Dollar Ni**er (1978)*
A street drunk is kidnapped for an experiment which will give him super powers so he can help with a jewel heist but without a neutralizer he will die in a week. Off the wall crime comedy with poor acting and pacing is kind of funny in spots and has some nudity and lots of profanity. I got the most fun from Dr. Dippy played by Peter Conrad who sports an awful Russian accent and prefers older women. Very low budget, shot in and around Miami. 5/10

April 13
14. Force Four (1975)*
Four martial artists are hired to recovery a valuable piece of African art which has been stolen. A blaxploitation martial arts film (so everybody in the hood knows kung-fu) which is low budget but fun. According to a note at the beginning, all the fights use real martial arts without any special effect enhancements. Also according to the credits almost all of the actors are accomplished martial artists. What all this means is that the fights often appear somewhat staged but work out OK which is good since this film is all about action. 6/10

April 14
15. Blood Feast (1963) (The Herschell Gordon Lewis Feast) Blu-Ray
The police investigate a series of murders where each victim has a different body part removed. The first splatter movie ever made has generally poor acting but Mal Arnold playing the crazed caterer Faud Ramses makes the film for me. The gore is low budget although sometimes effective, especially the tongue scene. 6/10

April 16
16. The Guy from Harlem (1977)*
A private eye is hired to protect the wife of an African government official and then is hired to pay off the kidnappers who abducted the daughter of a local gangster. It turns out that the evil Big Daddy is behind all of this. One of the lowest budget blaxploitation movies you could imagine with awful acting across the board, inept directing and a script that drops plot threads at will. At least the funky background music is entertaining if repetitive. Still, despite all this I liked it - somehow it comes up with some kind of bad movie charm. 4.5/10

April 17
17. Women in Cages (1971)* (Roger Corman's Cult Classics The Women in Cages Collection)
An American woman in the Philippines is used as a scapegoat by her boyfriend in a drug bust and is sent to a jungle prison where she eventually plans an escape. Solid WIP movie has the usual trappings. Pam Grier plays the evil head matron who has a torture chamber right out of an Italian horror movie in the basement and the evil bf runs a floating brothel. 6/10
18. Blood Feast commentary with Herschell Gordon Lewis, David F. Friedman, and Mike Vraney* Blu-Ray
Fun commentary with some good stories and background info. The affection that Lewis and Friedman have for each other comes through loud and clear.

April 18
19. Streets (1990)*
A teenage prostitute and an almost runaway flee from a psycho-cop who tried to kill the hooker but failed when the boy intervened. Surprisingly good acting and script. Not quite the typical exploitation I think of as produced by Roger Corman. Probably the best made movie I've seen in the challenge up to now. 7/10
20. Mankillers (1987)* Blu-Ray
A female federal agent recruits a group of female prisoners to take out a rogue agent who once tried to kill her. Good, but no where near the entertainment value of Deadly Prey also directed by David A. Prior. The reason that this Dirty Dozen has to be all women makes no sense at all and the action is just OK although there are a few good scenes. 5.5/10

April 19
21. Angel in Red aka Uncaged (1991)*
A pimp goes crazy when he thinks some of his girls have betrayed him and starts tracking down one in particular in order to kill her. Well acted, sleazy, grim and brutal at times. A good amount of nudity. Nobody really wins in this one. 6.5/10
22. The Alien Dead (1980) Blu-Ray
All the alligators disappear from a swamp as well as people living nearby - although no one seems to notice that most of them are gone. Starts out like a 1950's monster movie but turns into a Night of the Living Dead clone. There was one good looking monster but most of the zombies were pretty basic. Some gore and a little bit of nudity liven things up as does Buster Crabbe in a supporting role as a lazy local sheriff. Fun in a low budget way but a little disappointing. 4.5/10

April 20
23. The Alien Dead commentary with Fred Olen Ray and Steve Latshaw* Blu-Ray
Good commentary with lots of stories and some apologies. It turns out that the mask for the one monster I really liked was stolen before the movie itself was filmed (the scene it was in was basically a demo reel integrated into the film) which is why it wasn't in there more. Also as expected, the zombie route was taken (as opposed to say alien leeches) due to budgetary considerations.
24. The Brain Leeches (1978)* (On The Alien Dead disk) Blu-Ray
A doctor returns home from a convention and discovers that a strange killing has occurred and that several of his friends are acting oddly. Fred Olen Ray's first film is pretty much a home movie that tells a somewhat juvenile story but I liked the plot better then the one in The Alien Dead since it was more SF (think Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and less of zombie film. Everything about this is amateurish but I enjoyed it none the less. 4/10

April 21
25. Hercules and the Captive Women (1961)* (Retromedia Hercules Collection)
Because of visions and prophecy the King of Thebes and Hercules sail west to head off a terrible menace and find the hidden island of Atlantis after their ship is destroyed in a storm. Above average Hercules film was lavishly produced and has several supernatural elements, some good feats of strength and a straightforward plot with no boring court intrigue. 6.5/10
26. The Day the Earth Froze (1959)* (Retromedia War-Gods Collection)
A blacksmith and a woodsman pursue an evil witch who kidnapped the blacksmith's sister in order to force him to create a magical device known as a Sampo. Fairy-tale type fantasy made from a Finnish-Russian production drags a little and doesn't always make sense. Provided fodder for a classic MST3K episode 4.5/10

April 22
27.Hercules, Prisoner of Evil (1964)* (Retromedia Hercules Collection)
A monster is terrorizing the tribes lead by Hercules who must also contend with the Prince Regent who is scheming to rule everyone - or something like that. Not nearly as good as Captive Women and takes place in more of a European type setting. Only a few strength feats and those not very impressive. Some court intrigue. The monster looks OK and there are a couple of good sets. Looks like this was originally an Ursus movie not a Hercules film which probably explains the change of setting. 5/10
28. Girl in Trouble (1963)* (SWV Teen Turmoil Triple Feature)
A small town girl leaves for New Orleans for some excitement before she settles down but she runs into more trouble than she could have imagined. Her new BF Mona suggests career paths like lingerie model and finally stripper where she's a big hit. A little nudity. The movie isn't long but it drags in spots. I kept waiting for the abnormal situations promised by the trailer but there was just the usual sleazy junk. 5/10
29. A Good Time With a Bad Girl (1967)* (SWV Teen Turmoil Triple Feature)
A respected businessman, stranded in Las Vegas by bad weather, hooks up with a newly arrived 17 year old girl who is totally immoral. After the first night of near passion the old guy begins to think of Susan as a daughter which doesn't stop them from ending up at an orgy where anything goes. Lots of nudity in this one including naked go go dancing. Directed by Barry Mahon. 4/10
30. Bad Girls Do Cry (1954)* (SWV Teen Turmoil Triple Feature)
A young woman arrives in big city but the person she was supposed to stay with has left to care for her sick mother so Sally rents a room and looks for a job. She ends up drugged and a hooker but one of her johns falls for her in a big way. The gem of the disk. Awful acting but an odd plot full of bizarre humorous bits. And many of them are funny! It's almost like a series of sketches. The ends gets more serious but only in a cheesy incompetent way. No nudity but lots of dressing and undressing. Bad movie goodness at it's best. 5.5/10
31. The Rift (1990)* Blu-Ray
The second model of an experimental submarine is sent to find out what happened to the first which was lost at sea. Characters and situations straight out of a Syfy movie but with better models and effects. The plot leaves much to be desired never really making a whole lot of sense. The overall story is clear enough but things seem to happen almost randomly. Some well designed monsters help. 5/10
32. Sledgehammer (1983)
A group of young folks rent an old house that was the site of a double murder for a weekend party. As usual this is not a good idea and a supernatural force begins killing them off. Very slow and poorly done build up and just plain bad acting for the most part (Ted Prior is the best of the bunch) make the first two thirds of the film a serious chore to get through. Even the first couple of kills have no tension or atmosphere. The last half hour or so, which is basically a chase through the house, is much, much better and is very absorbing. Director David A. Prior admits in a short interview that he made this movie to learn how to make movies. 4.5/10

April 23
33. Shanghai Chest (1948)* (Charlie Chan Collection)
Charlie investigates three murders in San Francisco where at each crime scene the fingerprints of a dead man were found. I liked this one better than Docks of New Orleans but not by much. Winters is still not Charlie Chan and the script isn't very good. Chan mysteries rarely play fair with the viewer but that is more noticeable in these later ones and this one is full of absurd coincidences. 5/10
34. The Blazing Sun (1949)* (Gene Autry Collection 2)
Gene is after a pair of bank robbers who are hiding out somewhere around a small desert town. Action packed western with some great train stunts at the beginning and end. One of my favorite B-movie actors Kenne Duncan has a dual role as twin brothers. 6.5/10
35. Star Reporter (1939)* (Sinister Cinema Poverty Row Studio Collection Monogram Pictures Vol.10)
A newly elected DA must compromise his first big case to protect a scandalous secret about the newspaper man who helped to get him elected. OK crime drama. There's a little too much losing and recovering a signed confession and many of the characters are too darned noble for their own good. 5/10
36. Midnight Limited (1940)* (Sinister Cinema Poverty Row Studio Collection Monogram Pictures Vol.10)
A railroad detectives tries to figure out how a series of passenger robberies on the Midnight Limited were carried out. Clever little mystery. 5/10
37. Bloodfist II (1990)* (Bloodfist Collection Double Feature)
Don "The Dragon" is lured to Manila by a call from an old friend but is captured in order to participate in an illegal martial arts tournament sponsored by a gambler who wants to test out a new steroid formula. That's about all the plot you get, all in the first half of the film. The second half is all fights all the time. They are good fights though with a variety of styles and also a whole bunch of guys dressed in red to take out. Performances are adequate and I think I liked this better that Bloodfist but I can't be sure since these don't linger in the memory all that long. 5.5/10
38. Mystery Science Theater 3000 (2017)* Streaming
Jonah and the bots have to deal with Reptilicus, perhaps my favorite Danish giant monster movie, in the first episode of the new series. I enjoyed this and look forward to seeing more.

April 24
39. The Female Bunch (1971)* (Code Red Triple Feature)
A young woman attempts suicide after getting dumped by a lounge singer so a friend introduces her to a bunch of rough women who take what they want when they want it. Not my favorite Al Adamson film but it does have sex and violence with only a minimal story. None of the actors are that effective in their roles and it's sad to see the condition of Lon Chaney Jr. in his last picture. Didn't really grab me at all. 4/10
40. Frankenstein Island (1981)* (Sinister Cinema)
Four ballonists trying to cross the ocean crash and find themselves on an island with a tribe of beautiful women, a mad scientist, zombies and Frankenstein's monster. Jerry Warren's last movie is no where near as good as say The Female Bunch but I enjoyed it a lot more. Nonsensical story, poor acting and cheesy effects but it's full of so much absurd crap (including a giant John Carradine head that appears every once in a while) that I just had to find out what would happen next. 6/10

April 25
41. Chrome and Hot Leather (1971)*
A member of a biker gang causes an accident that kills a Green Beret's bride to be so the soldier and three of his army buddies try to track down the gang. OK biker movie gets a little silly at times like when the soldiers, three of which have only been on bikes for a week or two, can out ride most of the gang. William Smith does a good job as the leader of the bikers. 5/10
42. Piranha Piranha aka Piranha (1972)* (Code Red Triple Feature)
A peace loving photographer and her playboy brother go on a photo expedition in the jungles of Venezuela where they become involved with psycho-hunter Caribe (which supposedly means Piranha in a native dialect). Most of the story happens in the last 20 minutes or so of the film. The first 70 minutes has little story and is mostly a travelogue and nature documentary. Not totally uninteresting but more plot would have been nice. One time director Bill Gibson had padding down pat. William Smith is OK as Caribe but didn't have all that much to work with. 4/10

April 26
43. Hitler - Beast of Berlin aka Hell's Devils (1939)* (Sinister Cinema Poverty Row Studio Collection PRC Vol.1)
A member of an underground movement in Nazi Germany is arrested and sent to a concentration camp shortly after he finds out that his wife is pregnant. The original version of the film was banned by several pro-German state censorship boards. This version is a retitled re-release from the 1940's prominently featuring Alan Ladd's name who had since become a big star. Pretty good but low budget propaganda film. 5/10
44.Gambling Daughters (1941)* (Sinister Cinema Poverty Row Studio Collection PRC Vol.1)
Two students at an exclusive girl's school are forced to steal from their families in order to pay gambling debts. Fun comedy crime movie is a pleasant way to spend an hour. 5.5/10

April 27
45. Equalizer 2000 (1987)* Blu-Ray
A former officer of the evil Ownership seeks revenge on fellow officers for the death of his father in this Corman produced Mad Max type film. To help his cause he creates a combination rocket launcher, machine gun, and other stuff which looks kind of clunky and never really is the dominate weapon everyone thinks it is. Despite a wooden hero, almost no plot, some very cheap and silly looking costumes, and no nudity at all this was the right movie at the right time for me. I needed lots of mindless action and that's what I got. 5.5/10

April 28
46. Hercules and the Black Pirates (1964)* (Retromedia Hercules Collection)
In 16th century Mexico Captain Hercules (Alan Steel) battles a band of pirates who are working with the corrupt assistant governor. Not bad, lots of swordplay and several feats of strength. Whenever a fight breaks out peppy Spanish / Mexican music pops up. Originally a Samson movie. 5/10

April 29
47. Van Nuys Blvd. (1979)* (BCI Drive-In Cult Classics Vol. 3)
A restless teenager in New Mexico drives his souped up van to Los Angeles after hearing about cruising on Van Nuys Blvd. where he makes some friends, gets laid, and falls in love while having amazing adventures like going to the beach, drinking in bars, and riding a roller coaster at Magic Mountain. Kind of fun with lots of padding in this paper thin story but some nudity helps. The lead isn't the most appealing person around but the girls are nice. 5/10
48. Single Room Furnished (1968)* (BCI Drive-In Cult Classics Vol. 3)
Anthology film with three interconnected stories that teach a teenager who is leaning toward the dark side that her mother knows best. Jayne Mansfield's last film and she plays three rolls. Pretty good but it's stage origins are obvious with lots of soliloquies and some static sets. The acing is OK and some of the stories are compelling. Introduced by Walter Winchell. 5.5/10
49. The Angry Dragon (1973)* (Maria's Kung Fu Mayhem)
A Kung-Fu master pursues his true love who has been promised in marriage to the Mongol King and is being taken to him by several powerful marital artists. He is aided in his quest by four petty criminals. Just the right amount of plot, fights and effective humor with some impressive scenery to boot. 5.5/10
50. Dragons Never Die (1974)* (Maria's Kung Fu Mayhem)
A powerful fighter, claiming to be Kung-Fu 10th Dan, and his dim-witted brother wander around picking fights and beating everyone. One day he decides to stop but then he has to fight some more. OK, basically a series of fights with minimal plot and occasionally annoying humor. 4.5/10
51. Sartana: Angel of Death (1969)* (Sartana: The Complete Saga)
Sartana is framed for a bank robbery so he sets out to find out who was behind it all, Not as clever as previous movies and frankly I had real trouble following the plot. Also the dubbing was kind of lame. 4/10
52. Night of Fear (1972)* (Oz-Ploitation Boxset Vol. 1 R4)
After a car accident in a remote area of Australia, a woman is chased by a depraved maniac. Short and simple story told without dialog is very effective. It's full of tension with touches of horror. 7/10
53. Society (1989)* Blu-Ray
Very strange film is very much worth seeing. Seems pretty typical at first but is has some odd twists. Good effects fall down once in a while but that doesn't hurt the experience. 8/10

April 30
54. The Golden Eye (1948)* (Charlie Chan Collection)
Charlie investigates mysterious events at an Arizona mine owned by an old friend of his, OK Chan film and one of the better ones so far starring Roland Winters. 5/10
55. Texas Lawmen (1951)* (WB Archive Monogram Cowboy Collection Vol. 1)
Johnny Mack Brown helps a new sheriff track down an outlaw gang unaware that the leader is the father of the sheriff. 5/10
56. Gun Law Justice (1949)* (WB Archive Monogram Cowboy Collection Vol. 1)
Jimmy Wakely, Monogram's answer to Gene Autry, tries to help out a reformed gang leader whose son is a member of a new gang. Wakely has a good voice but is a bland actor. 5/10
57. Roar of the Press (1941)* (Sinister Cinema Poverty Row Studio Collection Monogram Pictures Vol.10)
A newly married newspaperman gets involved with a suicide and a murder much to the dismay of his new wife. OK crime story featuring a fast talking reporter. 5/10
58. Lure of the Islands (1942)* (Sinister Cinema Poverty Row Studio Collection Monogram Pictures Vol.10)
Two sailors are dropped off on a tropical island, governed by a neutral power, to check out rumors of Nazi activity. Lots of Hawaiian type musical numbers and an often silly plot with some unfunny humor made this kind of a chore to get through. 4/10
59. Mystery Science Theater 3000 (2017)* Streaming
Jonah and the bots have to deal with Cry Wilderness which I forgot was such an awful movie.

1TV=First time viewing

31/1st:
(1TV)1. Jem and the Holograms (2015)-My Critical Bomb pick. Better than the one I watched below (Though that's not saying a lot) So much for that supposed franchise at the end-credits! (DVR)
(1TV)2. Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)-My Razzie Nominee pick. NOTHING to see here, folks. (DVR)
(1TV)3. Super Christian (1980)-My Eschploitation/Religious pick. A different turn-out (Obviously, I was expecting a guy in a costume doing Christian duties) Still worth looking at for a laugh. (Youtube)
(1TV)4. The Hitchhikers (1972)-Not a reasonably bad Con-Man (Or should I say, Con-Woman) flick. It's just that it's about 15 minutes too long and the musical interludes get awfully annoying. (Youtube)
(1TV)5. Mantis Vs the Falcon Claws (1983)-Sonny Man (Im guessing that's his name) was the best thing about this. (DVD)
(1TV)6. Moonshine Mountain (1964)-Kind of uneventful and felt longer than it actually was. I still didn't really mind it though. (Blu-Ray)
(1TV)7. Detention (2003)-Dolph Lundgren (Playing a school teacher) battles bloodthirsty Hungarian punkers! The school setting and it's 2nd half manages to save this. (DVR)
(1TV)8. Tomorrow's Children (1934)-Early Roadshow flick about sterilization. Features an early appearance from the guy who voiced Winnie The Pooh! (Youtube)
-----------------------------------------
2nd:
(1TV)9. Substitution (1970)-One of those aggrivating sexploitation flicks where you just see the same scenes over & over. In this case, it's just lingerie modeling(?) and timid (Imaginary) foreplay. (Youtube)
(1TV)10. Sex of the Witch (1973)-Peculiar and disjointed giallo (Guest-starring Camille Keaton!) at least I never got bored. (Youtube)
(1TV)11. Girls in Chains (1943)-Very little "Girls in Chains" to see here. Arline Judge's snarky performance (And her hairdo) helped make this watchable. (Youtube)
(1TV)12. Ninja Strikes Back (1982)-A complete mess in the early going. That was due to watching the severely edited version, "Eye of the Dragon". After re-watching the cut scenes, I realized this was quite a blast! (VHS/youtube)
(1TV)13. Six Bullets (2012)-The first half of this Van Damme feature is mildly enjoyable. But the 3rd act drags big time. (DVR)
-----------------------------------------
3rd:
(1TV)14. The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014)-Uneven (Half serious-investigative film, half chuckling slasher) but not as bad as I was lead to believe. (DVR)
(1TV)15. Out of Sight (1966)-Beach movie pick. Saved only by the musical "Performances" and Maggie Thrett & Deanna Lund. (Youtube)
(1TV)16. Roller Blade (1986)-Wow. I lost count of how many times I said "WTF" outloud. It was as if Doris Wishman made a post-apocalyptic movie! (CPU)
(1TV)17. Night Club (1989)-Well..This had a little more boobage than the average Crown International flick has. All I can say about it. (DVD)
-----------------------------------------
4th:
(1TV)18. Shock Treatment (1964)-Stuart Whitman infiltrates a looney bin to make Roddy McDowall reveal where hidden loot is. So-so ending, but I liked what led up to it. It was cool to see a lot of diversity in the cast too. (DVR)
(1TV)19. Double Nickels (1977)-A highway patrolman (Looking a bit like Thomas Jane in BOOGIE NIGHTS) does some wild repo-man work on the side. Nicely paced. And it was very refreshing to see a carsploitation flick that doesn't take place in an open desert. (Youtube)
(1TV)20. Island of the Fishmen (1979)-All the stuff with the fishmen is pretty cool. All the boring melodrama that occurs when they aren't around isn't. This also felt more like an Antonio Margheriti film than a Sergio Martino film. (DVD)
(1TV)21. Midnight Heat (1996)-The title sounds porno-ish, but it's actually a Brian Bosworth action flick (Albeit, a not so good one) Good concept, poor results. (DVR)
(1TV)22. Crazy Horse and Intelligent Monkey (1981)-Any movie that has horse-fu and monkey-fu is A-okay in my book. (DVD)
-----------------------------------------
5th:
(1TV)23. Tonight For Sure (1962)-At last! I finally got to see Francis Ford Coppola's Nudie/Burlesque movie! This would go back and forth between being amusing and tiresome. (Youtube)
(1TV)24. Dangerously Close (1986)-Surprised I never heard of this one before. This came mighty close (Nod to the title) to being a major gem. But I still liked it plenty enough. (DVR)
(1TV)25. Outcast (2014)-Nic Cage and Hayden Christensen as Crusaders! Not as much of a hoot as it sounds (I was mostly bored with everything) Fair ending, though. (Netflix-streaming)
(1TV)26. Twister's Revenge (1987)-...I hope and pray that I don't see anything worse than this for the rest of the month.. (DVD)
-----------------------------------------
6th:
27. Grindhouse (2007)-Watched for it's anniversary. (Blu-Ray)
28. Machete (2010)-Watched with Audience reaction track. (DVD)
(1TV)29. Thor and the Amazon Women (1963)-Not as action-packed as other Sword/Sandal movies, but I'm a sucker for female gladiator movies and Amazon-ruled empires. (American Pop Flix-streamed)
(1TV)30. Midnite Spares (1983)-Somewhat of a revenge Ozploitation film. Nice car action at the end, but too little too late. (Youtube)
(1TV)31. Film House Fever (1986)-80's "Documentary" with Steve Buscemi and Mark Boone Jr watching clips of films by Al Adamson and HGLewis. Very short (I could have actually watched more) and this now has more value since the stars are well known today. (CPU)
-----------------------------------------
7th:
(1TV)32. The Blue Balloon (1973)-My xxx selection. Wasn't expecting it to take a dark turn. But *spoileralert* Happy Ending! (Blu-Ray)
(1TV)33. Hot Times at Montclair High (1989)-Awful stuff, but it managed to fly by very fast...Thankfully (Youtube)
(1TV)34. Cannibal Mercenary (1983)-Fun action-trash from Thailand. Could have been a little bit better. But there sure are some stand-out moments involving cannibalism and urine! (Youtube)
(1TV)35. Dead Hooker in a Trunk (2009)-Not bad. Only the shaky cam caused me to get nauseous here and there. This shows that The Soskas should not only return to these dark humor roots, but to stay in front of the camera as well (DVD)
-----------------------------------------
8th:
(1TV)36. Season of the Witch (1973)-Atypical stuff from Romero (It almost felt like I was watching a Cassavettes film during the early going) and while I can't fully recommend this to everyone, I still ended up admiring this somehow. (youtube)
(1TV)37. Beat Girl (1960)-Though it was cool to see The U.K.'s take on the beat/troubled-youth/rock & roll craze, not a whole lot actually happened here. Seeing Oliver Reed as part of the teen group was a big highlight. (youtube)
(1TV)38. Nazi Love Camp 27 (1977)-Among the best I've seen of the nazisploitation genre. It's got a bit of hard-hitting drama to go with the sleaze. (CPU)
(1TV)39. Ninja Fist of Fire (1972)-I felt like watching something with Ninjas. Needless to say, not one Ninja to be found here. (DVD)
40. Dolemite (1975)-Watched with Mark Jason Murray's audio commentary. It's an informative commentary for longtime fans, but the audio interviews on the track tend to be indecipherable. (Blu-Ray)
--------------------------------------------
9th:
(1TV)41. Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun (1977)-Hard to believe this was made as late as 1977 (It just looks and feels like something Franco would had made 7 years earlier) This proves that he was still capable of treating a lavish production very well (Considering he was deep in Euorcine crap by this time) (youtube)
(1TV)42. Death Race (2008)-Though I did appreciate how this tried not to be a direct remake, the results were just so 'meh'. (DVR)
(1TV)43. Santo and Blue Demon Against the Monsters (1970)-This had the potential to be the greatest of all the Santo movies. I put the blame on those stage-show musical moments. (CPU)
(1TV)44. Full Metal Ninja (1989)-It's time for some Godfrey Ho/Pierre Kirby viewing! Not surprisingly, the other movie that was spliced together with this turned out to be more interesting. (Youtube)
(1TV)45. Welcome To Spring Break (1989)-"Nightmare Beach" is a much more appropriate title. I could see how some complain that this could get monotonous or predictable, but I had a great deal of fun with it. I never got tired of all those electrocution deaths! (DVD)
(1TV)46. The Void (2016)-I was left with more questions than answers. Still a treat just for the practical fx. (PPV) Wildcard #1
--------------------------------------------
10th:
(1TV)47. Yellow Emanuelle (1977)-I feared this would feel too long or slow (Certainly felt like that during the middle act) but at least this ends on a strong note. (youtube)
(1TV)48. Against The Dark (2009)-Steven Seagal vs vampires (Although they're a bit more like zombies) Keith David turned out to be my favorite thing about the movie...And he's only in it for about a total of 5 minutes. (DVR)
49. Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls (1970)-I seem to like this more and more every time I see it. Gotta count how many times "Grass" gets mentioned next time. (DVR)
(1TV)50. 5 Pattern Dragon Claws (1983)-It looked like it wouldn't be special, but all you have to do is put Hwang Jang Lee in a kung fu movie as a bad guy and you'll always get gold. This one ended up setting the bar high for the dozens of more kung fu flicks I'm watching this month. (DVD)
--------------------------------------------
11th:
(1TV)51. Strip Club Slayer (2016)-Not much stripping. Extremely little slaying. Plenty of everything else. (DVR)
(1TV)52. Viva Django (1968)-Though it feels like it runs a little too long, this had a good, original idea for a spaghetti western and it was cool to hear the origin of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy". (YouTube)
(1TV)53. Sinthia: The Devil's Doll (1970)-Just as strange as advertised. Yet I hardly got bored. Just could have done without most of Sinthia's crying & screaming. (DVD)
(1TV)54. Naked and Violent (1970)-As with most Mondo movies, the running time of this is felt. The biggest highlight to me was the Altamont concert footage. It's weird seeing scenes of this event that doesn't involve the "Gimme Shelter" crew. (DVD)
--------------------------------------------
12th:
(1TV)55. Skatetown USA (1979)-I'm tempted to give this a higher score just for the soundtrack. The hits just kept on coming! (YouTube)
56. She-Devils on Wheels (1968-I had planned to watch this with the audio commentary, but I just had to listen to that brilliant dialogue. "Up your Magic Dragon!" (Blu Ray)
(1TV)57. Creatures The World Forgot (1971)-I'm sure this is the only GP-rated film that holds the record for most wardrobe malfunctions. (DVD)
(1TV)58. The Master Strikes Back (1985)-More brothel action than Kung Fu action.....Not that I was really complaining. (DVR)
(1TV)59. Raped By An Angel (1993)-Slow burn with an unsatisfactory climax. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
13th:
(1TV)60. Take Me Naked (1966)-It tries to be artful. Winds up putting you to sleep instead. (CPU)
(1TV)61. Alyas Batman en Robin (1991)-I'd been wanting to see this for over 20 years. Can't say it was worth the wait. (YouTube)
(1TV)62. Escape From Hell (1980)-I' had previously only seen this as the "Linda Blair re-edited version" (Aka SAVAGE ISLAND) so it was cool to finally watch the original cut of this. Aside from the final act being stretched out too long, this was enjoyable sleaze for the most part. (CPU)
(1TV)63. Terror is a Man (1959)-You have to wait a very long time for something to happen. At least this doesn't end very predictably. (DVD)
(1TV)64. Seven Steps of Kung Fu (1979)-All praise goes to the dazzling fight choreography. I'm surprised Yuen Woo Ping wasn't involved. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
14th:
(1TV)65. Marsha, The Erotic Housewife (1970) -Given how completely tame and uneventful this was, I should have hated this. But somehow I got sucked into this 70-minute talk fest. (YouTube)
66. StarCrash (1978) -MST3K 2017 episode! (Netflix)
(1TV)67. Green Inferno (1988)-Say what you will about Eli Roth's film with the same name. At least that was more entertaining than this shit. (CPU)
(1TV)68. The Day Time Ended (1979)-Although it was cool to finally put a name to this movie that I had known about since I was a toddler, nothing happens in this movie. It's just people looking at aliens that are flying and dancing around their house. (DVD)
(1TV)69. Tintorera (1977)-It takes 30 minutes for the first shark attack and an hour for Susan George to show up! That's highly unacceptable! (DVD)
(1TV)70. Bloody Parrot (1981)-Shame on you, El Rey Network, for blurring out the nudity Aside from that, pretty fun film. (DVR)
---------------------------------------------
15th:
(1TV)71. Hostess in Heat (1973)-Another Erwin C. Dietrich compilation of sexed-up tales. It drags towards the end, but I appreciated the dub (The main guy sounds drunk as hell) (YouTube)
(1TV)72. Chandu on Magic Island (1935)-The reason why this seems so rapidly paced is because it's edited from a serial. Had to admit It was funny to hear Bela Lugosi being constantly called "Uncle Frank". (American Pop Flix)
(1TV)73. The Party Animal (1984)-Dreadful. But I've seen far worse 80s comedies. (YouTube)
(1TV)74. The Crane Fighter (1979)-An okay 3rd act. There's just too much (unfunny) humor at the beginning. (DVD)
(1TV)75. Common Law Wife (1963)-Similar to the above. Slow start, entertaining finish. (DVD)
(1TV)76. Moonshine Love (1969)-I thought this would be about a half-hour long. Turned out to be an hour. Have to include it! (DVD)
77. Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966) -Re-watched the old MST3K episode. It just never gets old. (Netflix)
(1TV)78. Miss Nymphet's Zap- In (1970)-With just a skit averaging 30 seconds, this could have been very disastrous. Surprisingly, it wasn't. (CPU)
---------------------------------------------
16th:
(1TV)79. Fleshpot on 42nd Street (1973)-This is proof why I much prefer Andy Milligan's contemporary films over his 19th century (Or earlier) works. (CPU)
(1TV)80. 7 Seconds (2005)-One of those straight to DVD flicks with Wesley Snipes.Zzzzz. (DVR)
(1TV)81. Kid From Kwangtung (1982)-I was wondering if I was ever going to run into those Chinese hopping vampires in this marathon! (DVR)
(1TV)82. Jennie: Wife/Child (1968)-The soundtrack ended up being the best thing about this (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
17th:
(1TV)83. Erika's Hot Summer (1971)-Not good at all. Yet it was impossible for me to hate it. That's the sexploitation-lover in me talking. (YouTube)
(1TV)84. Prehistoric Bimbos in Armageddon City (1991)-The first, and hopefully last, shot-on-video movie I hope to see this month.
(1TV)85. The Intruder (1986)-aka The Indonesian Rambo (Pronounced "Ram-Boo") knockoff. Aside from the weak ending, everything else was damn near a blast! (YouTube)
(1TV)86. Tiger At Top (1975)-The first (Non-Shaw Bros) Kung fu flick I've seen this challenge that's presented in widescreen. Not much else to say. (DVD)
--------------------------------------------
18th:
(1TV)87.50,000 B.C. (Before Clothing) (1963)-Nudie Cutie that's more about telling jokes. (CPU)
(1TV)88. Mortuary Academy (1988)-Good cast (Bartel & Woronov are a great, unsung duo) but the humor goes flat in it's 2nd half. (YouTube)
(1TV)89. Star Slammer (1986)-Similar to above, cool cast of characters, but I wished there was more for them to do. (YouTube)
(1TV)90. The Dirtiest Game (1970)-Not only does this contain the most hairiest man-ass I've ever seen, It's got the best ending I've encountered thus far in this marathon. (CPU)
(1TV)91. The Forest (1982)-Original idea compared to other slashers in the woods from this era. A little too hokey to be completely lovable though. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
19th:
(1TV)92. Suburban Pagans (1968)-Tedious wife-swapping flick. Im just glad got to see Cara Peters in something else aside from Space-Thing. (CPU)
(1TV)93. Invincible Shaolin (1978)-Too much plot (And training) and not enough fighting. At least it was cool to finally run into The Venoms for this marathon. (DVR)
(1TV)94. Experiment Alcatraz (1950)-Good premise. Too bad it was almost ALL talk. (DVR)
(1TV)95. The Sex Thief (1974)-David Warbeck stars as a shagging jewel thief. It's got its moments. Namely a sex scene intercut with a pro-wrestling match. (DVD)
(1TV)96. Curse Of The Doll People (1961)-Unlike "Attack of the Puppet People", we've got some real nasty little muthafukaz here! Ol school Mexican Horror simply rules. (YouTube)
---------------------------------------------
20th:
(1TV)97. A Touch of Sweden (1971)-So it looked like a bunch of adult stars tried to make an R-rated comedy but failed badly at doing so. That would explain all the random, pointless sex scenes that get inserted all throughout. (CPU)
(1TV)98. Night Angel (1990)-Sucucbus tale that seems too predictable. But style really wins out over substance here. Features Doug Jones in one of his earliest roles. (YouTube)
99. Reefer Madness (1939)-I planned to watch something else today for 420, but couldn't resist a TV showing of this. Turns out, this was done MST3K-style on the FM HD channel. Not a laugh-riot commentary, but still better than the solo commentary Mike T. Nelson did. (TV)
(1TV) 100. 18 Fatal Strikes (1978)-I thought the villain would be the main saving grace about this, but (Once the unfunny humor finally ended) this became surprisingly badasss. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
21st:
(1TV)101. Sexy Sisters (1977)-Though it fizzles towards the end, I'd still call this another winner for the Franco/Dietrich combo. I'm becoming a bigger fan of Karine Gambier as well. (CPU)
102. Bloodsport (1988)-This happened to be a movie monthly club-pick. It's still hard to get fully tired of this one. (VOD)
(1TV)103. Destruction Force (1977)-It sure ended in a way I wasn't expecting (In a bad way) At least I got to (Finally) honor Tomas Milian in this marathon. (YouTube)
(1TV)104. Female Slave's Revenge (1997)-Hoo boy. Ted V. Mikels basically films a stage play. Just as painful as it should sound. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
22nd:
(1TV)105. Love After Death (1968)-Good premise. Jumbled results. But hell, anything else would've made up for yesterday's FEMALE SLAVE'S REVENGE.(CPU)
(1TV)106. Raiders of the Magic Ivory (1988)-Almost so bad it was good. (DVD)
(1TV)107. Eurocrime! The Italian Cop and Gangster Films That Ruled the '70s (2012)-The flashy style takes a while to get used to, but this becomes more informative than expected. I was especially pleased to, finally, to have an Italian-cinema documentary that explains the process (And budgetary requirement) for dubbing. (CPU)
(1TV)108. The Last Mercenary (1984)-It comes close to "Getting there" at times with its revenge plot. But our lead actor comes off as more of a wimp than anything else. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
23rd:
(1TV)109. The All-American Girl (1973)-A good mixture of honest sexual situations and far-out kink. (CPU)
(1TV)110. Soldier of Fortune (1990)-Zzzzzz. (DVD)
(1TV)111. Operation Titian (1963)-Not bad, but really slow. I'm looking forward to the re-cut "Drive-In" version of this tomorrow. (Blu Ray)
(1TV)112. The Eunuch (1971)-Long action-filled climax just barely makes up for the un-eventful first half. Yet to it's credit, this did have good swordplay choreography for 1971. (DVR)
(1TV)113. Fireback (1983)-I wouldn't call this the best Richard Harrison action movie, but it should qualify as his most quintessential. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
24th:
(1TV)114. Desire Under The Palms (1968)-I don't know what it was, but I completely fell in love with this. Sarno is God. (CPU)
(1TV)115. Skin Eating Jungle Vamps (2004)-Just an excuse to show blood-drenched boobs....Not that I'm complaining. (Viewster)
(1TV)116. Portrait of Terror (1965)-Not much of a re-edit of "Operation Titian". The deletion of character-background is what hurt this version most. (Blu Ray)
(1TV)117. Phoenix The Warrior (1988)-Even though the first half was the best part, I'll still give this a pass for it's lovely cheesiness. (YouTube)
(1TV)118. Tai Chi Shadow Boxing (1979)-Though it was nice to return to some madcap Kung fu, this still came up short from fully enjoying. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
25th:
(1TV)119. The Young Seducers (1971)-The first so-so Dietrich film I've seen thus far. I hope I end this challenge with him on a good note. (CPU)
120. Blood Bath (1965)-On to the 3rd version of "Operation Titian/Portrait of Terror". I saw this version before, but hardly remember it. It's easily the best looking version. Too bad it's incoherent. (Blu Ray)
(1TV)121. Scarlet Moon (2006)-Seemed fun in the early going. Lost interest halfway through (DVD)
(1TV)122. Night Key (1937)-I'm sure this was a decent thriller for its time, but I was mostly bored with it. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
26th:
(1TV)123. Adam and Six Eves (1962)-Finally! A Nudie Cutie that I had fun with! Mostly because it was narrated by a donkey. Can't ask for much more than that! (CPU)
(1TV)124. Evils of the Night (1985)-Probably the strangest alien invasion/slasher movie I've ever seen. Whatever it was, I was entertained by it! (YouTube)
(1TV)125. Riot on 42nd St. (1987)-Oh man. Why haven't I heard more about this one? Not only does this contain the best theme song I've heard this month, but it's got the greatest shooting spree I've seen in a long time. We got a winner here, folks! (YouTube)
(1TV)126. Track of the Vampire (1966)-On to the 4th AND FINAL re-edited version of "Operation Titian/Portrait of Terror/Blood Bath"! This was the most jumbled version of them all. If I had the resources I would like to make my own fan edit of all these copies. It's already been done by others! (Blu Ray)
127. Caged Heat (1974)-Watched this in honor of Jonathan Demme. I like this more every time I see it. It's just too bad the ending couldn't have been handled better. (DVD)
(1TV)128. Virgins From Hell (1987)-Cool action/stunt scenes and funny dubbed-dialogue. "Meh" about everything else. (DVD)
---------------------------------------------
27th:
(1TV)129. Trapped in the House (1970)-I thought this was the one with Uschi and friends. Turned out to be something else. Oh well. At least I got a kick out of hearing the director say "Cut" and "Action" outloud. (CPU)
(1TV)130. Intrepidos Punks (1980)-More fun than I thought it would be...Even though the theme song gets very annoying. (Youtube)
(1TV)131. Room of Chains (1970)-Mostly a snoozer. The end credits were my favorite part. (CPU)
(1TV)132. Gun Woman (2014)-This felt like one of the old Al Adamson films where it's 2 movies combined as one. This wasn't so bad. At least I finally got to know where a famous/infamous gif comes from! (Netflix-streaming)
(1TV)133. Chinese Kung Fu against Godfather (1974)-Poor Man's version of Way of the Dragon. It takes a good long while to get going, but the last half makes things worth staying for. (YouTube)
(1TV)134. The Tale of the Dean's Wife (1970)-This just might have been the most fastest moving 70-minute film I've watched in this marathon....And I can assure you that I've seen a lot of those! (CPU)
---------------------------------------------
28th:
(1TV)135. 1,000 Shapes of a Female (1963)-It was odd to watch a nudie Cutie that featured zero amounts of humor. Audrey (Olga) Campbell's appearance was the main saving grace. (CPU)
(1TV)136. Savage Terror (1980)-Watered down "remake" of MONDO ULTIMO CANNIBALE. Not much I really liked about this. The horrid copy I watched didn't make things any better. (YouTube)
(1TV)137. Surf II (1984)-Only saw parts of this as a little kid. Though I can't say it was worth the wait after seeing it in it's entirety, I admit that Eddie Deezen can play a mastermind-villain quite well....The only way Eddie Deezen can.(YouTube)
(1TV)138. Femalien (1996)-Your standard 90's softcore skinemax. But what's slightly different about this is that the genitalia isn't so covered up. (DVD)
(1TV)139. Death Race 2050 (2017)-There were little, tiny moments scattered throughout that I liked. Otherwise, bleh. (Netflix)
(1TV)140. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Miss Osbourne (1981)-Being familiar with Boroczyk's work, the slow start was expected. And then came the craziness towards the end. In short, I have no idea what I just saw, but I think I liked it! (Blu ray)
---------------------------------------------
29th:
(1TV)141. Norma (1970)-I feared this would try to be too melodramatic in the early going. Thankfully, it loosened up rather quickly and became quite decent. (CPU)
(1TV)142. Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1984)-Soo bad. I gave this a generously higher than expected score just Craig Sheffer's solo song alone. (YouTube)
(1TV)143. Spaced Out (1979)-Very tame sex comedy for the standards of the late 70s. Some nice bits of humor here and there.(youtube)
---------------------------------------------
30th:
(1TV)144. Dormitory Girls (1972) (aka Private School Girls)-Nothing was able to top that streaker sequence near the beginning! (CPU)
(1TV)145. Cleopatra Wong (1978)-I wasn't fully into this, but the soundtrack and dubbing was able to hold my attention. (Youtube)
(1TV)146. Emmanuelle Black & White (1976) (aka Passion Plantation)-A little bit better than I thought it would be. It really deserves a re-mastered treatment from one of the cult companies. (CPU)
(1TV)147. Schoolgirl Report 6: What Parents Would Gladly Hush Up (1973)-A slight step-down from the other Schoolgirl reports I've seen. The sequence with the girl-fencer was the scene-stealer. (DVD)
(1TV)148. The Sinful Dwarf (1973)-This was my first time seeing the hardcore version...A very mild hardcore presentation, I might add. (Blu-Ray)
(1TV)149. The Working Girls (1974)-It had the potential to be (Sort of) fun. Lackluster results instead. As most reviews point out, Cassandra (Elvira) Peterson steals the show with what little scenery she has. (CPU)
(1TV)150. Cries of Ecstasy, Blows of Death (1973)-I felt I ended this challenge/marathon on a good, worthy note with this one! (CPU)

Re: 8th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation Challenge List Thread (April 1-30,2017)

The 8th Annual Drive-In/Exploitation Challenge

2010 B-Movie/Exploitation/Drive-in Movie Challenge List - 104
2011 Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge List - 105
2012 Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge List - 100
2013 Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge List - 100
2014 Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge List - 64
2015 Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge List - 86
2016 Drive-in/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge List - 98

3/31/17

1) High Voltage (1997) [B-Movie TV] - A group of small-time crooks robs a small bank that turns out to be a repository for a Vietnamese mob's dirty money, resulting in lots of gunplay and martial arts action. Shannon Lee (Bruce Lee's daughter), Amy Smart (Crank), William Zabka (How I Met Your Mother), Antonio Sabato (both of them), and quite a few recognizable character actors kept things interesting.
2) Vice Academy Part 2 (1990) [B-Movie TV] - Two female cops (Ginger Lynn Allen and Linnea Quigley) try to stop bad guy from contaminating water supply with Spanish Fly. There were actually a few funny lines in the first act, but whoever came up with them must have had to go back to his day job. Yeah, it sucked, but having seen the first one, I expected that going in.

4/1/17

3) Drive-In Delirium Volume 2: The Offspring (2011) - Disc 1: "Giallo A-Go-Go / We Are Going To Eat You / Don't!" - Just shy of three hours of trailers. Unfortunately, these Italian Giallo, cannibal, and zombie trailers are extremely popular with the Roku channels I watch, so I've seen quite a few of these trailers many, many times in the recent past, and I started getting a little bored watching them yet again.
4) Serbuan maut (The Raid: Redemption) (2011) - SWAT team raids a tenement to arrest a crime lord, and ends up in a war with the building's residents. A bit like Roberta Findlay's Tenement (1985), but with lots more blood, gunfights, and kung fu violence. A really good action flick that almost lives up to all the hype.
5) The Intruder Within (1981) [B-Movie TV] - Made for TV Alien rip-off. Guys (and gals) working on an oil rig near Antarctica dig up a prehistoric killing machine. I've seen a lot worse.
6) Bad Blood (1994) [B-Movie TV] - Ponytailed one man army (Lorenzo Lamas) fights a gang of killers who are after his worthless criminal brother for embezzling a shitload of money. There was some nudity, lotsa shootin' and kickin', and a buncha explosions, so I don't feel like I totally wasted those 90 minutes.
7) Pale Blood (1990) [B-Movie TV] - Vampire travels to Los Angeles to investigate a series of murders that look like the work of a vampire. Wings Hauser plays a nutty "video artist" who may or may not be the real killer. Cheezy, silly little time-waster. Pretty much what I've come to expect from a Wings Hauser movie.

4/2/17

8) Teen-Age Jail Bait (1973) [B-Movie TV] - Soon after two young chicks from Beverly Hills run away from home, their car gets a flat tire, stranding them in the middle of nowhere. They're soon picked up by two guys in a dune buggy. After some simulated sex, they go to one chick's house (to steal some money her dad's keeping for the mob and to have more simulated sex). Rene Bond ('Necromania': A Tale of Weird Love!), Sandy Dempsey (The Black Alley Cats), Marsha Jordan (The Head Mistress), John Alderman (Trader Hornee), and Chesley Noone (Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song) fill out the "all-star" cast of this little sleaze-fest. I just watched this one on B-Movie TV a month ago, but since it's short (just about an hour) and such a perfect movie for this challenge, and I don't have a copy of it so who knows when I'll get another chance to watch it, I decided to watch it again.
9) The Mummy and the Curse of the Jackals (1969) - An archeologist (Anthony Eisley) who lives in a rundown house just outside Las Vegas has two mummy cases in his living room (we're told he fished them out of Lake Mead following a plane crash). One case contains a mummy, and the other a perfectly preserved sleeping Egyptian princess. The archeologist becomes a "werejackal" who's supposed to protect the princess. The princess and the mummy wake up. The mummy and the jackal fight. John Carradine shows up for a couple of short scenes. The mummy and the jackal fight again. Bad, but not nearly as bad as I'd been led to believe.
10) The Sexploiters (1965) - A day in the life of a few sex workers in New York.
11) Should a Schoolgirl Tell? (Josefine - Das liebestolle Kätzchen) (1969) - When a gym teacher at a girls' school is accused of inappropriately touching his students, his lawyer decides the best way to clear his name is to prove that the daughter of the parent who complained, sixteen year old Josefine, is a slut.
12) Blowin' Smoke (Freak Talks About Sex) (1999) [B-Movie TV] - Twentysomething slacker, David (Josh Hamilton), spends his days working a crappy job at the mall and his nights hanging out with his stoner buddy, Freak (Steve Zahn).

4/3/17

13) Nudes on Tiger Reef (1965) - Barry Mahon nudist camp flick. Broadway director goes to a nudist camp for vacation and runs into the star of his Broadway show, so they decide to make a movie.
14) The Jaguar Project (Cannibal Mercenary) (1983) [B-Movie TV] - A shellshocked retired soldier finds out that his daughter has polio and they need a shitload of money to pay for her medical care. Coincidentally, a dude shows up and offers him a shitload of money to work for him as a mercenary. The onscreen title was "The Jaguar Project," but the copy on YT with that title has a new subplot with 3 white guys edited in, and loses the daughter subplot, the over-the-top gore and cannibalism, and the epilogue (maybe it's this one from 1988: The Jaguar Project). The one on YouTube called "Cannibal Mercenary" (which also has "The Jaguar Project" title card) is the version I saw.
15) Furious (1984) [B-Movie TV] - Simon, a karate teacher, is sent by some old guy and his amateur magician buddy on a quest to collect some magical medallions. Starts out weird, gets weirder: There's barely any dialogue in this thing, the bad guys in white jumpsuits look like a Devo cover band (they even play music in one scene, so it wasn't an accident), and then there's the chickens. Easily the best bad movie I've seen in a long time.

4/4/17

16) The Wonderful Land of Oz (1969) [YouTube] - Another Barry Mahon snooze-athon. Kid runs away from home to the Emerald City. Along the way he runs into a mini-skirt clad army of hotties out to overthrow the Scarecrow, the new leader of the city.
17) The Vixens of Kung Fu (A Tale of Yin Yang) (1975) - Chop-socky porn mashup. Prostitute walking in the woods runs into three hunters. After refusing their advances, she is shot with a "gun of anesthesia," and raped, then left on a beach where she is found by a kung fu vixen who takes her back to her jungle hut and trains her "physically, spiritually, and sexually."
18) Mondo Oscenità (World of Obscenity) (1966) - "Documentary" about censorship. Reuses a bunch of footage from the director's (Joseph P. Mawra) Olga movies (and uses the same narrator from those films). I also recognized a couple of clips from Revenge of the Virgins in it.
19) It's Hot in Paradise (Ein Toter hing im Netz, Body in the Web, Horrors of Spider Island) (1960) - Plane carrying a dance troupe to Singapore crashes into the ocean. The survivors end up on an island where they find a dead body in a giant spider web. After a bunch of standing around and talking, the troupe's manager gets bitten by a radioactive spider and turns into a monster. Then there's more standing around talking. After a while, a few of the girls go skinny dipping and a couple of guys show up on the island. Then there's more standing around and talking.

4/5/17

20) Man & Wife: An Educational Film for Married Adults (1969) - Gray haired guy in a suit gives a 15 minute lecture about sex (complete with anatomical charts), then he narrates as we watch couples on a bed in a wood paneled room have sex in various positions.
21) He & She (1970) - Another gray haired guy in a suit introduces this "motion picture marriage manual" which we're told uses motion picture techniques, like the flashback, to tell a story. This one does feel more like a movie, with music and scenes with the couple out on dates, etc., not just in bed.
22) Black Is Beautiful (Afrikanus Sexualis) (1970) - Black guy in a suit tells us about alleged sexual mores of various African tribes. Occasionally a couple is shown demonstrating sexual positions.
23) Adultery for Fun & Profit (1971) - Rich guys getting divorced hire the main character to sleep with their wives so they can countersue for adultery and not have to pay alimony.

4/6/17

24) Psycho from Texas (Wheeler) (1975) [YouTube] - I saw the trailer for this one a few weeks back, and thought it looked interesting. Crazy drifter, Wheeler, joins up with local boy, "Slick," to kidnap a retired oilman. Features what may be the longest foot chase in film history.
25) In Hot Pursuit (Polk County Pot Plane) (1977) - Gang of good ol' boy pot smugglers lead a bunch of cops on a coupla car chases. The plot doesn't really matter, this movie's all about fuckin' up some cars, and they do a surprisingly good job at it considering this was just a low-budget, regional flick. Another one I'd seen the trailer for recently, and was interested in watching.

4/7/17

26) Blonde Comet (1941) - PRC B about a female race car driver competing with men who eventually qualifies for the Indy 500. Lots of stock racing footage. It was on the same DVD as the last one I watched, and I felt like taking a break from the '70s.
27) The Hitchhikers (1972) [YouTube] - Yet another film I put on my to-watch list after I caught the trailer on a Roku channel. Pregnant teenager (the adorable Misty Rowe) runs away from home and eventually joins up with a guy and four chicks who thumb for rides and rob the guys who stop for them. The music was pretty bad to begin with, but then got worse when part way through the flick, they started into a Keoma-style song, narrating the onscreen action. Luckily that didn't last long.
28) The Vals (1983) [B-Movie TV] - "Comedy" about four valley girls and their frat boy boyfriends. John Carradine, Chuck Connors, and Sonny Bono were in it, so at least it wasn't a total waste of time.

4/8/17

29) Stalag 69 (1982) - Two female American spies sent to gather information on Germany's atomic bomb program were captured and are being tortured and raped in a secret facility beneath a "Love Camp," so two more spies are sent to be captured so they can help the first two escape (with the help of some commandos). Then there's more raping, followed by a lot of explosions at the end. Angelique Pettyjohn was supposed to be in this, and I guess it was her.
30) Abduction (1975) - Heiress named Patty is kidnapped by radical hippies, and eventually joins their cause (maybe). A note at the beginning of the movie tells us right up front that this flick about a kidnapped heiress named Patty has nothing to do with any actual events, and that it's based on a novel published in 1972 called Black Abductor.
31) Women of the World (La donna nel mondo) (1963) - "Documentary" (mostly) about women. Typical mondo film with some nudity and some animal cruelty.
32) Grid Runners (Virtual Combat) (1995) [B-Movie TV] - Sci-Fi flick with future cop Don "The Dragon" Wilson battling a virtual reality character brought to life by a nutty scientist working for an evil corporation. Stella Stevens plays the voice and face of his handy-dandy, can-do-whatever-he-needs-it-to-do, handheld computer.
33) The Junkman (1982) [B-Movie TV] - H.B. Halicki stars as a stuntman who is chased by killers, wrecking dozens of cars (and a couple of airplanes) in the process. I've seen this before, but decided to go ahead and watch it again since it was on.
34) American Nightmare (1983) [B-Movie TV] - Pianist investigates his sister's disappearance. Michael Ironside plays a cop investigating a series of hooker murders in the same neighborhood.

4/9/17

35) Caged Women (Gefangene Frauen, Women's Penitentiary VII) (1980) [B-Movie TV] - Three prostitutes (Brigitte Lahaie, France Lomay, and Lynn Monteil) are arrested and sent to the women's prison on "Rat Island." Nudity abounds.
36) Six Swedish Girls in a Boarding School (Sechs Schwedinnen im Pensionat) (1979) - A French girl and her six Swedish roommates (Brigitte Lahaie, France Lomay, Lynn Monteil, and others), who appear to be the only students in this "school," jog naked in slow motion, ride bicycles naked, and have other naked adventures in an around a Boarding School.
37) High Test Girls (Sechs Schwedinnen von der Tankstelle) (1980) - Brigitte Lahaie, France Lomay, and Lynn Monteil are back (along with three new Swedish girls). In this one they run a gas station which provides full service to their customers. For whatever reason, they're still wearing their school uniforms from the last picture (when they aren't jogging naked in slow motion, or busy with other things).
38) The Revenge of the Teenage Vixens from Outer Space (1985) [Shockwerks TV] - A group of alien chicks from a planet without men visits Earth to have sex with as many men as they can. It was like a porn movie without any nudity or sex, and most of the actors were way too old to pass for high school students. The "student" in love with the science teacher looked as old as him. Seriously, it took me a while to realize she was supposed to be a student and not a parent or another teacher.

4/10/17

39) The Mountain of the Cannibal God (La montagna del dio cannibale) (1978) - Ursula Andress hires Stacy Keach to help her find her missing husband. I didn't think I'd seen this before, but lots of it was familiar. It could be that I'd seen so many scenes from it over the years, and seen the lengthy trailer so many times, that I had seen much of it before. Or maybe I saw the edited version on cable years ago.
40) Superfights (1995) [B-Movie TV] - Young guy saves a woman from being robbed at an ATM and becomes famous, then uses that fame to become an MMA fighter. After awhile he discovers that the promoter is a crook who is secretly juicing fighters with steroids and mind control drugs to use them as enforcers, and when they're too far gone he has them fight to the death for high rollers.
41) Happy Hell Night (1992) [Shockwerks TV] - During a fraternity initiation at an asylum, two guys release the killer who had killed a bunch of frat boys 25 years earlier. Sam Rockwell played a younger Darren McGavin in flashbacks.

4/11/17

41) Booby Trap (1970) - Explosives expert plans to set explosives at an outdoor concert, partly because of his dislike of hippies, but mostly because his ex-wife's guitarist boyfriend will be playing there. Starred Buck Kartalian and a few more familiar faces from other Harry Novak productions. The theme song playing over the opening credits riding through Vegas at night is the music used on the SWV Harry Novack Exploitation Art DVD extra - it was nice to finally ID that.
42) The Takers (1971) - Two guys riding around on motorcycles follow two women to a house and break in and harass and rape them for a few days. Boring softcore porn flick (at least 75% of the film was sex scenes), and I don't want to spoil the ending, but
Spoiler:
that was a loooooooong way to go for a joke.

43) Playroom (1989) [B-Movie TV] - Archeologist has recurring nightmares of his childhood and his imaginary friend while digging at the site his father was working on when he was murdered years earlier. I was hoping this would be good when I saw Manny Coto's name on it.

4/12/17

44) The Sex Perils of Paulette (1965) - Doris Wishman flick about a young woman who moves to New York City to become an actress, but ends up as a model, and later, a prostitute. This was the fourth or fifth Darlene Bennet movie I've seen in a week.
45) Sock It to Me Baby (1968) - Greasy middle aged alcoholic schlub, married to a rich lesbian, has hots for the fifteen year old comic book reading babysitter next door. I couldn't tell if the actress playing the babysitter was trying to act childish or if she just couldn't act, either way it got old fast. The best part of this one was the copy of Spider-Man #63 she was reading.

4/13/17

46) Cries of Ecstasy, Blows of Death (1973) - It's 2062, and because of pollution, or something, a few people live in inflatable domes next to a pipeline. Meanwhile other people ride around on motorcycles and harass anyone they run into. Uschi Digard and Neola Graef showed up 44 minutes in and were naked by the 45 minute mark. There was a minute or two of missing footage at the end of SWV version I watched, so I'm not really sure how it ended.
47) GetEven (Road to Revenge) (1993) [B-Movie TV] - John De Hart (an Attorney who wrote, directed, produced, starred in this, and wrote, directed, produced, and sang all the songs on the soundtrack) plays an ex-cop, who along with his ex-cop buddy (played by Wings Hauser) battles an evil, satan worshiping, ex-cop now judge, William Smith. Yeah, this one's really something.

4/14/17

48) The Sexploiters (1965) w/commentary by Michael Bowen & C. Davis Smith - C. Davis Smith was a cinematographer and editor who worked with Doris Wishman and others. While talking about Wishman, he said she never rehearsed the actors, so he just had to do the best he could following them around with the camera. "Doris as a director: She knew what she wanted. She just didn't let us know." Really interesting commentary.
49) Starship Eros (1980) - Three women and a male robot fly around in a spaceship. Screw a lot. Basically a hardcore version of Space Thing. Complete with model spaceships from the nearest five and dime.
50) The Ice House (1969) - Ex-cop working at an ice house kills a few people.
51) Hot Times at Montclair High (1989) [B-Movie TV] -Three students meet on the first day of school, end up in detention, and slowly become friends. It sucked.
52) The Last Slumber Party (1988) [B-Movie TV] - Shot on video crap about a few girls who have a slumber party to celebrate the last day of school and the first day of summer. Some guys and a killer or two show up. After a really long time, I thought (hoped) it was over, but it wasn't.

4/15/17

53) Substitution (1970) - Stereo salesman is bored with his marriage, but a coworker tells him that a "groovy yogi called Maharoni" could teach him a way to "substitute" his wife with someone else during sex. Most of the movie is not-very-attractive women modeling negligees, over, and over, and over.
54) Honeymoon of Terror (1961) - Newlywed couple go to Vegas, see a show, gamble, dance, and go to a cheap hotel. Then they decide they'd like to go somewhere to be really alone, so they follow a map the husband just happens to have to a deserted island in the middle of a lake. The husband takes the boat back for some propane and a killer club-footed lumberjack shows up and chases the wife around the island.
55) Maryjane (1968) [Dailymotion] - Fabian plays an art teacher at a school where some of the kids smoke pot. I saw the trailer for this on the last DVD I watched, and wanted to see it. It wasn't exactly what I expected, but I enjoyed it.
56) Invader (Lifeform) (1996) [B-Movie TV] - Viking probe returns from Mars, bringing along a killer alien in this fairly decent Alien ripoff.
57) Rampage (Korkusuz) (1986) [B-Movie TV] - Serdar (aka "Turkish Rambo") & two other prisoners in a truck escape and go to a bad guy's lair. The bad guy tortures Serdar, then sends him out to grab another guy. Serdar kills a bunch of people, captures the guy, takes him back to the bad guy's lair, hilarity ensues.
58) Hellgate (1989) [Shockwerks TV] - Some guys on motorcycles kidnap a girl and ride to a tourist trap where her father (who looks a little like Gomez Addams) just happens to be. Girl ends up dead. Father gets a magical jewel that revives dead things. Jump to sometime later and Ron Palillo (yep, Horshack) shows up. Eventually it ended.

4/16/17

59) Hot Summer Week (Girls on the Road) (1972) - Two cute nerdy girls driving to a beach house pick up an ex-soldier with mental problems (Michael Ontkean). They soon learn that someone is killing women on the beach, and begin to fear the killer may be their new friend. IMDb tells me the blonde chick was on Dark Shadows the year before this but I didn't recognize her (it's been a long time since I saw those episodes). Uschi Digard had a quick cameo during the opening credits.
60) Teenagers Battle the Thing (1958) - Six high school kids, their teacher, and Bill Wyman, not the bass player, but "an outstanding archeologist," dig up a mummy. Not a lot happens. It ends.

4/17/17

61) A Happening in Africa (Africa Erotica, Jungle Erotic) (1970) - A model and a photographer go to Africa, ride around in an Amphicar, take pictures, get chased by animals. IMDb says Brigitte Lahaie is in this, but she wasn't in the SWV copy I watched. I later dug up my other copy of the movie (titled Africa Erotica: A Happening in Africa) which did have a Brigitte Lahaie scene edited in (along with one or two others). Plus it had a more complete ending than the choppy SWV copy.
62) Mr. Angel (1966) - One day, while out for a jaunt in his seaplane, Mr. Angel catches sight of a topless chick on a small island signalling madly for him to land. After he crashes his plane, he wades ashore to find a chick in really short cutoff jean shorts who says she's being held prisoner on the island.
63) Thunder Warrior (Thunder) (1983) [B-Movie TV] - Native American gets pissed off when he discovers that people are about to bulldoze the local Indian Burial Site©, so he goes to the cops to complain. Unfortunately, the local sheriff (Bo Svenson) and his men are in on it, and arrest him. Hero escapes. Violence ensues. Not bad for what it was.
64) Group Marriage (1973) - Two couples meet and swap partners. When they get bored with that they add a couple more into the mix. The first half of this was amusing (a little like a Love, American Style episode with dirty words and boobs), then it started to drag.

4/18/17

65) The Lickerish Quartet (1970) - Married couple and their kid watch a blue movie, then go to a carnival where they pick up a chick and take her back home. Great looking, odd movie.
66) Thunder 2 (1987) [B-Movie TV] - It's a few years later, and even with all the property damage he caused in the previous film, the Governor has appointed Thunder as a deputy in the same county he wrecked before (where Bo Svenson is still the sheriff). Thunder is framed and sent to jail. He escapes and violence ensues once more.
67) Kyôfu kikei ningen: Edogawa Rampo zenshû (Horrors of Malformed Men) (1969) [Shockwerks TV] - Man escapes from an asylum. While on a train, he sees a newspaper article about a guy who looked just like him who recently died, so he goes and digs up the dead guy and switches clothes with him and takes his place (telling people he didn't die, he was just sleeping really soundly, or something). After a while, he goes to an island where stuff gets really weird, even by Japan standards.
68) Au Pair Girls (1972) - Group of young foreign women go to London to get jobs as au pairs and have comedic sex adventures. Pretty sure I saw this in the '70s on cable, but I didn't remember any of it other than the title.

4/19/17

69) Swedish Wildcats (Every Afternoon) (1972) - Joe Sarno flick about two sisters who work for their aunt (Diana Dors) in her whorehouse. Christina Lindberg plays one of the other whores and shows up in a few scenes.
70) Poor White Trash Part II (Scum of the Earth) (1974) - Man and wife are enjoying a vacation at a cabin in the woods until the man is killed with an ax. The woman runs off into the woods where she runs into a horny old drunken slob who takes her back to his shack where she meets the rest of his family.
71) Victims! (1985) - Four "teenage" girls go on a field trip into the desert (to study rocks) where a couple of serial killers just happen to be hanging out that weekend. I think the filmmakers might have been trying to go for a deeper meaning for the title there at the end.
72) Thunder 3 (1988) [B-Movie TV] - Thunder is back again. This time, a group of goofballs shoots a couple of horses, chases a little boy to a trailer park, then shoots up the trailers, which causes Thunder to go after repayment for the damage they did.

4/20/17

73) Guyana: Crime of the Century (Guyana: Cult of the Damned) (1979) [B-Movie TV] - Jim Jones (or Johnson in this case, since "Names have been changed to protect the innocent.") leads his followers, first to Guyana, then to death.
74) Pink Flamingos (1972) - Low-lifes compete to see who is lowest. I thought it was trying a little too hard to be weird.
75) Porn USA (Prostitution Pornography USA) (1971) - "Documentary" about pornography and prostitution. In the scene on the boat with Neola Graef, the "director" calls her Donna early in the scene, but repeatedly calls her Neola through the rest of it.
76) The Screentest Girls (1969) - Two young women audition for a sleazy movie producer, then film a couple of screentests. I recognized Mary Jane Shippen from Miss Nymphet's Zap-In, but where I thought she was just kind of cute in that, she was super cute in this one (even though the color on the copy I watched was off, making her red hair look brown).
77) Horny Hobo (1969) - Hobo asks a guy for money and the guy tells him if he washes his windows he'll pay him when he gets back home. Hobo agrees and starts washing window. Through the window he sees two women getting busy. The women notice him, and invite him in. Mary Jane Shippen was in this one, but she didn't have a lot of screen time.

4/21/17

78) Soul of Bruce Lee (Gekisatsu! Jadô ken) (1977) - Sonny Chiba's buddy kills their teacher. So he trains a lot then goes after him. Pretty sure Bruce Lee wasn't even mentioned in the movie.
79) Oh! You Beautiful "Doll" (1973) - Old, well past her prime Hollywood starlet advertises acting lessons in order to acquire new sexual partners.
80) Winterbeast (1992) [B-Movie TV] - Stop motion monsters kill people. I really think the people who made this had a few short stop motion films they had made and then made this film to try to tie them together somehow.

4/22/17

81) The Eighteen Carat Virgin (1971) - After her stepdad rapes her, a young woman steals his car and runs away to Miami Beach. She stops partway there where she meets a prostitute who takes her under her wing and sets her up as a prostitute too. Every now and then, a guy playing a guitar cuts in and sings a Keoma-style theme song in case you're having trouble keeping up with the intricate plot.
82) Cage (1989) [B-Movie TV] - Reb Brown and Lou Ferrigno are in a firefight in Viet Nam when Lou gets shot in the head, causing permanent brain damage. After the war, the two are running a bar when a crook in deep money troubles decides to kidnap Ferigno and make him a cage fighter. Not a great movie, but how can you not have fun watching Captain America and the Hulk together in a movie? Danny Trejo has a bit part as a henchman.
83) Up! (1976) - Story about a murder and sexual antics in a small community. Wasn't expecting Uschi Digard to be listed as a producer on the film (she also did body makeup according to an interview on the disc).
84) Kid (1990) [B-Movie TV] - Nameless stranger (C. Thomas Howell) shows up in a desert town looking to avenge his parents' murder years earlier. R. Lee Ermey plays the evil sheriff who wants to run him out of town. Surprisingly decent flick.
85) Lunchmeat (1987) [B-Movie TV] - A group of L.A. douches going to a cabin in the woods are attacked on the way by a goofball, hick cannibal family. Not a likeable character in sight. If we're lucky, they'll all die horrific deaths. "Stay put, I tell ya!"

4/23/17

86) The Snow Bunnies (1972) - Stephen C. Apostolof flick (written by Ed Wood) with Marsha Jordan, Rene Bond, and a few others, in boring fake sex scene after boring fake sex scene, interrupted occasionally with long boring conversations. Feels like I've seen this one before, but I think maybe it was because it was so generic and boring.

4/24/17

87) Drop Out Wife (1972) - Another Stephen C. Apostolof & Ed Wood flick. Some of the same folks from the previous movie. This one had a story, but it was still mostly one boring fake sex scene after another.
88) Drive-In Delirium Volume 2: The Offspring (2011) - Disc 2: "British Blood & Bosoms / Sexy for Satan / A Fistful of Euros" - Three more hours of trailers. This one was really heavy on horror stuff (the last segment with the Spaghetti Western trailers was definitely welcomed). It looks like disc three is also heavy on horror, so I think I'm done with these for this year.
89) Black Samurai (1977) [B-Movie TV] - Al Adamson flick with Jim Kelly as a spy. In one scene, Jim Kelly fights a buzzard. It's bad, and not in a cheesy fun kinda bad way.
90) Mannaja (A Man Called Blade) (1977) - The Spaghetti Western trailers made me want to watch a Spaghetti Western, and the trailer for this one looked good and I have a copy of it. Guy armed with a hatchet (and a pistol) looks to avenge his father's death. Another really good Italian Western with a terrible theme song.

4/25/17

91) Europe in the Raw (1963) - Russ Meyer "documentary" composed of montages of street signs, buildings, statues, big breasts, some neon signs, then maybe a topless woman jiggles around for awhile, all while a guy tells you a little about some European country.
92) Undercover Vixens (The Harem Bunch) (1969) [YouTube] - I happened upon this title on Youtube, which I recognized as one of the few Debbie Osborne movies I hadn't seen, so I watched it. She is listed in the end credits, but I'm not sure her scenes weren't cut from the film. There are more people credited as "Barracks Women" than were in the two barracks scenes. Well, at least Monica Gayle was in it. Her and two other girls play Israeli spies who are captured by Arabs.

4/26/17

93) The Stewardesses (1969) - A bunch of stewardesses spend their off time drinking, doing drugs, and/or having pretend sex. Monica Gayle had a small part in this one. Not a very good movie, but the 3D is great, with several showy "pop-outs" as well as good use of depth throughout.
94) Hell Is a Place Called Hollywood (1950) (watched 4/15/17) - A girl wins a beauty contest and wins a trip to Hollywood where she makes a nudie flick, and later becomes a nude model. I just saw this a few months back on Bizarre TV, but I'm glad to know I have a copy of it. / A Wild Night at the Interlude (1967) (watched 4/17/17) - Short film about night club in San Francisco. / The Swinging Nurses (1965) (watched 4/20/17) - Barry Mahon short about a photographer laid up in a hospital who gets a few nurses to pose nude for him. June Roberts is in it for a few seconds in what is most likely a reused clip from another Mahon movie. / Experiments in Love (1977) (watched 4/26/17) - Female scientist and her female assistant film various 3D effects with the scientist's new 3D camera. Really good 3D demonstration film (plus lots of nudity).
94) The Headless Eyes (1971) [Bizarre TV] - Artist loses an eye while trying his hand at robbery, later becomes a serial killer who steals his victim's eyes.
95) Street Law (1995) [B-Movie TV] - Goofy crap about a long haired kung fu lawyer who pisses off the wrong people and gets kicked out of his apartment, so he becomes a fighter.
96) Mutant War (1988) [B-Movie TV] - Sequel to a movie I haven't seen has the hero return, team up with a young girl and fight some bad guys.

4/27/17

97) Cyborg Cop II (1994) [B-Movie TV] - Another sequel to a movie I haven't seen. Evil scientists turn bad guys into cyborgs who get loose and start killing people. Really, really, really sucked.
98) Roller Blade Warriors: Taken by Force (1989) [B-Movie TV] - Finally, a sequel to a movie I've seen (Roller Blade (1986)). Post-apocalyptic crap about people on skates. The first one was weirdly entertaining. This one just sucked.
99) The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues (1955) - Was kind of surprised to see I still had some unwatched Midnight Movies DVDs, so I watched this one. When a radioactive underwater mutant monster kills a couple of people, two guys working for the government investigate.

4/28/17

100) The Beast with a Million Eyes (1955) - Alien lands on earth and hassles a family and their mute ranch hand.
101) Rescue Force (1990) [B-Movie TV] - Silly low-budget action flick. After an Ambassador and his daughter are abducted, the Rescue Force is called into action.
102) Angel: Black Angel (Arabella l'angelo nero) (1989) [B-Movie TV] - Sleazy Giallo (I guess this counts as one since it's Italian, and it has a serial murderer who could be any one of a few characters and who isn't identified until the end of the movie) about a woman and her invalid writer husband, a lesbian cop, and some murders.

4/29/17

103) Rhythm and Blues Revue (1955) [Archive.org] - Variety of acts perform at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Could've used more Mantan Moreland (who was only in it for about a minute) and Nipsey Russell.
104) Games of Survival (1989) [B-Movie TV] - Lizard alien dude with a very high opinion of himself sends seven prisoners from different planets to earth to fight for possession of a ball (a gift from his father). Whoever possesses it at the end, wins his freedom.
105) Lady Avenger (1988) [B-Movie TV] - Female prisoner is temporarily released so she can go to her brother's funeral. She escapes and goes searching for the guys who killed her brother (but where'd she get a flame thrower?). Michelle Bauer is in a few scenes, usually naked.
106) Fatal Exposure (1989) [YouTube] - Photographer who claims to be the great grandson of Jack the Ripper (and calls himself "Jack T. Rippington") kills people and photographs them as they die, then drinks their blood.

4/30/17

107) The Bellboy and the Playgirls (1962) - Francis Ford Coppola filmed new scenes which were edited into a German movie. The new film is about a bellboy who is taking a correspondence course to learn to be a detective who thinks the new guests at the hotel are "professional women." Part of the time, he's in black & white, and disguised as a stagehand, watching a director tell stories to his lead actress who suddenly decided she wasn't okay with the sex in the play they're rehearsing, and the rest of the time, whenever he's back in the hotel, he's in color. Just before the final reel, he points out and reads "Put on your special glasses" in his detective handbook, and everything from then on should be in 3D (of course it was flat on the copy I have). I had hoped the whole last reel was included on the 3-D Rarities blu-ray, but it was only 2 minutes. Oh well, I watched it anyway.
108) A*P*E (1976) - Guy in ape suit wakes up and destroys miniature ship then wades to shore in Korea where he breaks up a lot of miniature buildings. This was really bad, and unlike a bunch of people online, I didn't think the 3D saved it.
109) Warlord (Dynasty, Qian dao wan li zhu) - Bad guy kills a few monks and a prince, then one guy weasels himself into the bad guy's inner circle while another guy beats people up with an umbrella - in 3D! I watched a low resolution, faded copy, and the 3D still worked really well. I'd love to get a blu-ray copy of this one.

Re: 8th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation Challenge List Thread (April 1-30,2017)

8th ANNUAL DRIVE-IN EXPLOITATION CHALLENGE

Goals for the Challenge
1) CHECKLIST Goal achieved!
2) ONE FILM PER DAY - ALL FIRST TIME WATCHES! Goal achieved!
3) HEALTHY MIX OF OLD AND NEW Goal achieved!
4) BEAT LAST YEAR'S PATHETIC TOTAL This goal achieved on April 12 at 9:32pm All-time challenge record beat on April 25 at 10:30am
5) HAVE FUN Goal achieved! *LIST FINALIZED, MAY 1, 2017*

Last year's stats: 19 total films
Movies are graded on a scale of 1 to 10. Grades are more applied to entertainment value than for artistic merit.
T&A denotes tits and ass. The film features nudity to some degree.
I will indicate whether it's MILD (standard T&A; boobs & butt shots), HOT (softcore sex, copious T&A, full frontal), or X-TRA SPICY (hardcore and lots of sexy stuff)
I'll indicate if something is a REPEAT VIEWING and I'll review COMMENTARY tracks if I listen to any.

March 31
1. 31 (Rob Zombie, 2016) MILD T&A Blu-ray
Rob Zombie remains curled in the fetal position and entirely in his comfort zone for a ball-breakingly gratuitous sideshow that's easily his most sadistic and profane comic nightmare to date. Nothing pretentious here; Zombie sticks to his guns, wallowing in childishly sick humor and vulgar imagery inspired by Tobe Hooper, the Twisted Metal metal video game, and the filthiest Euro smut. This was the most obscenely contemptuous trash dump since The Human Centipede: Full Sequence. I'm satisfied to have started my eighth annual drive-in/exploitation challenge from the depths of excess, and the bowels of hell. 7.4/10

April 1
2. Heavy Metal 2000 (Michael Coldewey-Michel Lemire, 2000) MILD T&A DVD
Busty naked animated chicks will only take you so far. Should have stuck closer to the original and been a nutty anthology with a cool soundtrack. Most of this is a regrettable slog and the music is dreadful. What's with all the obnoxious fade to blacks? Best scene was a rape and shootout in a futuristic sleazepit clearly intended to be the Creature Cantina crossed with the Korova Milk Bar. 3.2/10
3. Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College (John Carl Buechler, 1991) HOT T&A DVD
Is this The Godfather Part II of the Ghoulies series? Such a hearty shit sandwich of campus sex comedy hi-jinks and creature feature crudeness. Genre champ John Carl Buechler dumbs everything down to toilet level and then lowers the bar some more. This ended up being a sweet ass choice for April Fool's Day, given its "prankster week" theme. I now can answer the question, "what movie prop would I most like to own?" Answer: the gargoyle head toilet! 7.5/10

April 2
4. The Cop in Blue Jeans (Bruno Corbucci, 1976) NO T&A DVD
When you use shuffle from your Plex app and it randomly serves you a Tomas Milian movie, it can be deemed coincidence. However, when you then blindly reach into a Mill Creek 100 Cheesy Movies boxset and the title you arbitrarily select also stars Milian, that is a signal from a higher power. The movie Gods were with me, because this was way cooler than Serpico. Side of ham and sleaze added by Jack Palance. 6.8/10

April 3
5. Running Scared (Paul Glickler, 1981) NO T&A Blu-ray
Judge Reinhold as a hillbilly learning to dance "the twist" is among the flick's limited highlights. 4.1/10

April 4
6. Chips (Dax Shepard, 2017) MILD T&A Cineplex Charlottetown
Deviates from its source material in a way that certainly made it more appropriate for my month-long exploitation challenge. It's less like the classic family friendly series and more tonally linked to the Police Academy ripoffs that flourished briefly in the eighties, like Night Patrol, Basic Training and Recruits. These were cruder adult comedies that featured lots of sexual innuendo along with wacky, dopey characters, outrageous physical gags, and abundant bodily humor. Slobs that were too dumb for their jobs. Dax Shepard's version of Jon Baker is a flaky moron who can't even eat a hamburger without soiling his uniform. Gross-out moments are conflated with explicit violence in a toxic mix of Tromaville excess. So, in a sense, CHIPS succeeds more as a tribute to the lapsed "Policesploitation" genre than as any kind of genuine homage to the series. I dare say, however, that Corey Feldman's sole directorial effort Busted, beat it to the Ponch. 5.4/10

April 5
7. The Brute Man (Jean Yarbrough, 1946) NO T&A Shout Factory TV MST3K commentary
A short and effective B movie thriller from 1947 with a lot of atmosphere and a plot line that could be plucked from any number of eighties slashers. The real discovery for me here was Rondo Hatton as the "creeper". He has twenty-five screen credits according to IMDb, and was exploited by producers for his severe growth deformity— a condition that made him look menacing without the need for prosthetic enhancements. Can't take your eyes off him, as he literally dominates the screen. 6.4/10
8. Sleepless (Baran bo Odar, 2017) NO T&A Pass the Popcorn
Are there stats somewhere for action tropes? I ask because I want to believe this movie holds some kind of record for shattered glass. My action craving has been satiated for the evening, but I'll be back for more when I get some some rest. 6.7/10

April 6
9. Icebreaker (David Giancola, 2000) NO T&A Pass the Popcorn
Slippery slopes ahead for the staff of the Killington Ski Resort in this low rent Cliffhanger knockoff. Bruce Campbell wants to go nuclear on the place, because he's dying of cancer anyway. First, he has to contend with lovesick ski bum Sean Astin whose extreme snowboarding skills pay off in a sequence inspired by similar awesomeness in A View to a Kill. I didn't even bother with the Rifftrax version, because sometimes you gotta brave the cold alone. 6.9/10

April 7
10. Laser Mission (Beau Davis, 1989) NO T&A Mill Creek Streaming Platform
Slightly disheartened when I realized there weren't going to be actual laser fights. Brandon Lee gets to showcase his formidable action skills, but I always find it tough to distance myself from his tragic end. This is particularly ironic during a moment where Lee pretends to be dead from a gunshot. Debi Monahan has a dreadfully shrill voice and an absolutely banging body. She spends most of the film in a revealing blue dress and high heels. While she drops the top for Brandon, we don't even get side-boob. 5.5/10
11. Quake (Louis Morneau, 1992) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
Producer Roger Corman knows how to exploit everything; a great location, quality stock disaster footage, a topless Erika Anderson, and a jacked up Steve Railsback. Talk about getting your money's worth. 7.2/10

April 8
12. Emanuelle in Bangkok (Joe D'Amato, 1977) X-TRA SPICY T&A Cinemageddon
Nobody makes people come together like Emanuelle. She is the most interesting woman in the world. Also look out for an intoxicating death match between a cobra and a mongoose. This is Eurotrash in the seventies, boys and girls. 6.9/10
13. Murder Weapon (David DeCoteau, 1989) HOT T&A Cinemageddon
Despite every indication from the poster, this is not a Vice Academy flick. It's a rambling and dreamy little movie that's kind of late to the slasher party. Still, it has no trouble referencing other dumb slashers while it unashamedly acknowledges its own insanity. It also puts much of that "final girl" bullshit to bed pretty fast since guys are the ones being sliced, diced, and mashed. There are some truly gruesome practical effects that caught me by surprise between all the psychobabble and big hair. Recommended mainly for the T&A tag team effort of eighties supervixens Karen Russell and Linnea Quigley, playing twisted sisters. 5.8/10
14. The Sweeper (Joseph Merhi, 1996) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
A mad drug dealer steals a cop's car and plows through pedestrians, killing some and knocking others into the water. Yes, that first action sequence takes on unintentional gravitas in our new world disorder. Actually, the world is becoming more and more like a Joseph Merhi movie. Later, there's a night time car chase involving explosives and a freeway of flaming vehicles that's as good as anything in The Fast and the Furious series, and without the CGI. Since it was hip at the time, there's even a little Tarantino-esque dialogue as a comely black woman offers C. Thomas Howell a blow job...if he can sing the ad song for Honeycomb cereal. This is pretty much non-stop fun from start to finish and a prime example of PM Entertainment's mission statement. 7.9/10

April 9
15. Cut and Run (Ruggero Deodato, 1985) MILD T&A DVD
Instead of the sequel his producers requested, Ruggero Deodato served up a more mainstream and digestible spin on his demented classic, Cannibal Holocaust. Still plenty of wild gore and spectacular location photography, but be sure you're watching the uncut and uncensored edition. Apparently, Willie Aames trashed his hotel room and was a total nightmare on set, but I'm heartily encouraged to explore some of the other exploitation movies he was in around this time. 7.7/10

April 10
16. Spitfire (Albert Pyun, 1995) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
Clunky action parody made watchable by adorable red-headed hardbody and former gymnastics sensation Kristie Phillips. Girl is freaking cute! She takes her mixed Gymkata skills to the bedroom and beyond for some endearingly lightweight fight scenes. Main title sequence is a decent send-up of Bond theme montages and kind of belongs in another film. 5.2/10
17. Partners (Joey Travolta, 2003) NO T&A DVD
Here's a breezy bit of comic book pulp from Joey Travolta. According to the end credits, this was completed in 1999. So, looks like it sat on a shelf for awhile before getting released to cable. I happened to grab a DVD copy off a pawnshop shelf just the other day for a buck, and it was worth every penny. Steadily pokes fun at neo noir's double-crosses, overt stereotypes, garish sets, and beautiful losers—all without getting too smug or self-indulgent. 6.1/10

April 11
18. Lower Level (Kristine Peterson, 1992) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
Artfully crafted erotic thriller from the golden age of DTV. I'm a fan of deranged security guards, because they're a perfect excuse to take advantage of voyeuristic surveillance tech. The high rise this is set in greatly resembles the Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard and it exploits its location brilliantly. This has one of most clever finales I've seen in a genre piece this year. It's yet another prime example of how Wally Pfister's early work in erotic films helped trained his eye for his moody, seductive visual style. 7.6/10

April 12
19. Her Majesty's Top Gun (Lindsay Shonteff, 1978) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
There's pussy galore in this frivolous Bond parody. Nicky Henson's Agent No. 1 likes to douse his female assistant's blouse with water and these wet t-shirt simulations are genuinely sexy. No. 1 admits to generally needing the women around him to be disrobed, which they often are. While the film's mission is to mainly be silly, there are some moments of subversive grimness and darker violence. This is often thanks to formidable character actor Richard Todd's properly good portrayal of the evil Arthur Loveday. Henson is more charming than most of the legitimate Bond actors and I would sooner recommend this over the more joyless Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig 007 pictures. 6.5/10
20. They're Playing with Fire (Howard Avedis, 1984) HOT T&A DVD
Astutely marketed as an unofficial follow up to Private Lessons, I had no trouble envisioning this as the successor to my favorite teen sex comedy. Eric Brown retains the awkward naiveté he brought to his earlier role, as he is once again mixed up with an older seductress, a love triangle, and an unlikely insurance scam. Predictability steps aside when the flick opts for a sex change halfway through—transforming from soft-core male fantasy into a messier and more perverse slasher mystery. Movies didn't used to play safe. They played with fire. 8.3/10

April 13
21. Night of the Sharks (Anthony Richmond, 1989) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
Typically manic Italian production is all over the place in narrative terms, but scores cred with some harrowing shark attacks and solid underwater photography. Willliams is a gruff, credible action lead and he's always cool to watch. He's a shark hunter (or shark whisperer) who unwittingly ends up in possession of a fortune in diamonds and a CD containing scandalous wiretapped conversations that involve the White House and could be "bigger than Watergate". It's never quite that clear what exactly is at stake, but once Molotov cocktails start flying and Cyclops the shark starts feeding, you remember what you really came to see. 5.2/10

April 14
22. A Thief in the Night (Donald W. Thompson, 1972) NO T&A YouTube
The Rapture descends upon the american drive-in cinema of the early seventies. The first in a series of Eschploitation movies that were later used in christian Sunday school classes to instill fear in doubters. A noteworthy independent precursor to HBO's The Leftovers and the Left Behind films. 5.8/10
23. A Distant Thunder (Donald W. Thompson, 1978) NO T&A Pass the Popcorn
I don't have much time for Christian rock music, but I'd happily spend my end of days with Donald Thompson's oddly compelling regional horror series. Patty's nightmare from the first Thief in the Night is proving to be prophetic and now she's finding fewer people in her life to trust as the non-believers spread their sinister mark of evil. Patty hits a level of hysteria this time that reminded me of Marilyn Burns in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. When your friends are selling their souls or facing decapitation, hysteria isn't an unreasonable response. 5.7/10
24. Man on Fire (Elie Chouraqui, 1987) NO T&A Blu-ray
Meditative and more than a little conflicted, this is a much different vision than Tony Scott had for the same source material. It does share the grittiness and violent edge, and the chemistry between Scott Glenn and precocious Jade Malle feels more genuine than Denzel/Dakota. The ending is disobliging, and calls into question some of the more obtuse structural choices. On the plus side, these slight imperfections and rough edges work to keep viewers off kilter, and I've now read some inspired interpretations of that final scene. Like Glenn's Creasy, you won't come away unaffected. 7.2/10

April 15
25. Image of the Beast (Donald W. Thompson, 1981) NO T&A Cinemageddon
The Mark of the Beast enters the computer age. Patty Dunning cameos to face the guillotine in the most frightening and intense scene. I kind of missed her as the lead heroine. While the new actors are a bit better, they're bland as hell. Overall, production values are higher and there's even a second unit director and actual stunt work. What I object to is this longer running time for endless sermonizing. 5.1/10
26. Night Vision (Gil Bettman, 1997) MILD T&A The Horror Charnel
A killer known as the "video stalker" is on the hunt for slutty women. He secretly records his victims in amorous trysts before snuffing them out, and then spends hours editing their sleazy stories into home videos. Finally, he adds perversely comic narration before dropping off the finished products to the local cable news. Due to the killer's ties with an underground criminal network, these tapes even get him a distribution deal for the German home video market. Did I mention he travels around in a black van that functions as a complete surveillance and editing suite? I had a blast with this, and its cast of exploitation stalwarts appear to be having a great time as well. Fred Williamson must have wanted to reclaim some of that old Shaft magic. There's a new theme song for his Dakota Smith character, but you'll have to wait about halfway through the film to hear it. Sorry, no Oscar nod this time. Brownie points to the set designers for that Pink Cadillac convertible bed! From the director of notorious cult favorite Never Too Young to Die, which I plan to watch the day my blu-ray copy arrives. 7.8/10

April 16
27. Night of the Lepus (William F. Claxton, 1972) NO T&A Turner Classic Movies
Happy Easter from the saber-toothed bunny. Good poster concept and overall marketing strategy here. There was no way Night of the Angry Rabbits was going to scare up much business. Bunnies are probably the least imposing animals on the planet, unless maybe you've been raped by a furry or suffer from Leporiphobia. 3/10
28. Down 'n Dirty (Fred Williamson, 2001) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
Dak's back. Williamson still charms and looks cool with a dangling cigar, but his character has sobered up a bit too much. The flick lacks the sensational sleaze and reckless energy of its predecessor, Night Vision. While it's got a steady string of genre faces, they're pretty obviously just doing the Hammer quick favors for fast paychecks. 5.3/10

April 17
29. Snowboard Academy (John Shepphird, 1997) NO T&A Cinemageddon
Evidently I'll make time for even the shittiest movies with the words "snow" or "academy" in the title. Canadian tax incentive pic seems pretty late to the extreme snowboarding craze. Varney brings the slapstick, Nielsen brings the cleavage, and Haim brings the Corey. Settled for less and got what I came for. 4.7/10
30. Mean Tricks (Umberto Lenzi, 1992) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
A hidden gem from genre maestro Umberto Lenzi. This is a Eurocrime buddy action flick that's worth seeking out for the absolute badass slice of machismo that is Charles Napier. 7.4/10

April 18
31. America 3000 (John Shepphird, 1997) NO T&A Cinemageddon
Post-nuclear holocaust comedy from Cannon Pictures reduces to the world to a gynarchy, with gendered tribes of warring troglodytes. Sounds like a Democrat fantasy scenario. The leader of the second class band of brothers discovers the secret bunker of the former POTUS; an awesome man-cave of video games, pinball, music, comics, and Playboy mags. Needless to say, it inspires him to rise up and save mankind. I know this turd is referenced somewhere in Electric Boogaloo, the doc on Golan-Globus. 3.3/10
32. The Peacekeeper (Frédéric Forestier, 1998) NO T&A Cinemageddon
Such a phenomenal first act with a crafty rooftop car chase that must have exhausted either the budget or the creative energy of the filmmakers. Sadly, there's not much more worthwhile action that follows. Should have stuck closer to its early playbook, with Dolph Lundgren protecting the nuclear "black box" from baddies. Instead, Dolph is made to partner with Montel Williams in one of the less inspired casting stunts of the DTV era, and their banter is pretty forced. 4.3/10

April 19
33. Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (Michele Massimo Tarantini, 1985) HOT T&A The Horror Charnel
I've got a serious case of jungle fever for this wild bit of comic trash. A naughtier and more rugged Indiana Jones trapped in a cannibal and women-in-prison flick from the awesome eighties. Director Michele Massimo Tarantini honed his talents for titillation after years of making Italian sex romps, including several starring knockout Edwige Fenech. The dude's got some eye. 8.5/10

April 20
34. Heart of America (Uwe Boll, 2002) MILD T&A Pass the Popcorn
Today was the eighteenth anniversary of the Columbine shooting spree massacre, and this Uwe Boll feature was inspired by that tragic event. The movie's coda details similar tragedies that happened at other schools around that time, and I had forgotten what an epidemic this had already become. Heart of America does well at giving all its characters credible stories. Genre veterans Jürgen Prochnow and Michael Paré are most convincing in their respective roles as a principal and teacher at odds over the integrity of some essay grades. While this is probably his most sensitive and straightforward film, Boll doesn't miss those opportunities to exploit. There's the vile gang rape of mentally challenged girl, forced dog-shit eating, and lots of regrettable grunge and goth. Clint Howard cameos as a deadbeat dad from hell and future Mad Men star Elizabeth Moss plays a pregnant teen. 6.4/10
35. Never Too Young to Die (Gil Bettman, 1986) MILD T&A Blu-ray
Finally popped my cherry on this cult curio that is like the best and worst of eighties schlock cinema explosive vomiting on itself. How does one begin to describe Gene Simmons in this? He's a glam rock tranny version of his KISS persona and he'd likely scare the panties off David Bowie's evil Jareth from Labyrinth. Thankfully, Vanity is on hand to offset some of outrageous gender confusion and nonstop camp. That woman was a goddess and I will make time for anything she's in. John Stamos worked on his gymnastics skills and he's got the physique here to prove it. He's not quite ready for Gymkata 2, but I hear television sitcom stardom calling. 6.5/10

April 21
36. Where the Boys Are '84 (Hy Averback, 1984) MILD T&A DVD
I don't really want extended piano concert footage in my beach movies, and this has some of the worst original music I've heard in a major release. That's surprising when you consider that producer Allan Carr was the man behind Grease and Grease 2, which are both fantastic musical comedies with catchy tunes and splashy choreography. According to supplemental interviews on the DVD, it sounds like Carr and the cast were more interested in their extracurricular partying than in the movie they were supposedly making. Was excited to hear that Lynn-Holly Johnson was playing a slut, but she did that so much better in For Your Eyes Only. Also, I don't care for this feminist approach to spring break if it means that none of the leads get their tops off. 3.8/10
37. Black Dog (Kevin Hooks, 1998) NO T&A Blu-ray
As Stallone had already proved with Over the Top, it's hard to go high ballin' when your trucker movie is saddled with a PG-13 rating. The seventies kind of mastered expectations for the trucksploitation road hog flicks, with Sam Peckinpah's Convoy being the mother load. The big rig action kept me hooked, but I wanted Swayze to take a pit stop at a real Road House. 5.7/10

April 22
38. My Name is Bruce (Bruce Campbell, 2007) NO T&A Blu-ray
Ended up being a good pick for my birthday, since Bruce is celebrating his in the movie. Nobody sent me a Strip-o-Gram for mine, but it would have been a nice gesture. This had all the balance of hyperbolic egoism and the subtle self-deprecation that makes Campbell amusing to watch in even the dumbest shit. His trashy trailer looked similar to the one in Ash vs. Evil Dead, and apparently this was all shot on Campbell's own property. Ted Raimi has multiple offensively ethnic cameos that I loved, and I'm forever a sucker for cheap shots at Brokeback Mountain. 6.2/10
39. Dragstrip Girl (Mary Lambert, 1994) MILD T&A Blu-ray
Showtime's Rebel Highway was a 1994 cable series of feature-length remakes of juvenile delinquent drive-in flicks from the fifties. They should have been distributed as an entire box-set, but were instead released individually and quite sporadically on home video. I'm still a few titles away from completing the full set on DVD. This one has a good pace and it's in the full spirit of the original movies. Natasha Gregson-Wagner and Traci Lords are glorious eye candy. Mary Lambert may be a female director but she can work that male gaze. 7.4/10

April 23
40. The Fate of the Furious (F. Gary Gray, 2017) NO T&A Cineplex Charlottetown
I can't listen to listen to Vin Diesel or Michelle Rodriguez and their family shit anymore. There's not a single cast member who's been in an all eight movies, so stop pretending these are about an inseparable bond of some kind. If anyone brought this series together, it was Paul Walker. We came for some mindless car action and these characters are expendables. The centerpiece NYC automated car attack is pretty sweet, though. 3.2/10
41. Galaxy of Terror (Bruce D. Clark, 1981) MILD T&A Blu-ray
So which uncanny rape scene from 1981 do you prefer? Is it the sinister possessed tree vs. Ellen Sandweiss in The Evil Dead, or the giant alien maggot vs. Taaffe O'Connell in Galaxy of Terror? There are no wrong answers. Watched this for the passing of Erin Moran, who's not looking happy at all here. 4.3/10

April 24
42. Sinner's Blood (Neil Douglas, 1969) HOT T&A YouTube
This probably had the most bloodshot and lustful eyeball close-up I've seen. It's another wildly out of control YouTube discovery that must have made for some awkward drive-in dates back in '69. I wanted to get some biker exploitation in for the month's challenge, and this one delivered hard. I wasn't quite prepared, but that's when these movies work best. It opens with some explicit sexual violence and then sidesteps into more softcore, nudie-cutie directions before turning emotionally darker and more vicious. By the final third, it's a full-on roughie. Some movies can't be contained, or easily explained. You'll need a serious bath after this to wash all that bloody ketchup off. 6.6/10
43. Hostage (Frank Shields, 1983) MILD T&A Blu-ray
Based on a true story that clearly had enough tabloid elements to inspire this above average Ozploitation flick. One thing I've learned from the movies is that young women should steer clear of carnivals, and particularly the men who work at them. This poor lass is forced into an abusive marriage, motherhood, a messy abortion, Nazism, armed robbery, and international crime. Lush location photography in both Australia and Germany comes across nicely on Code Red's recent blu-ray. 6.5/10

April 25
44. After Porn Ends 2 (Bryce Wagoner, 2017) MILD T&A Pass the Popcorn
Cautionary documentary about how porn affected the lives of its various participants. This sequel adds some classic names into the mix, including Miss Jones herself, Georgina Spelvin. Johnnie Keyes and Darren Star had the more inspirational comeback stories. Janine and Chasey Lain were kind of in emotional limbo. I think Bree Olson would make a good pick if there are more to come, as she's been outspoken about the difficulties of getting work after porn. Although, if you're trying to distance yourself from the industry, these docs mightn't help one's case. 7.8/10
45. The Boogeyman (Ulli Lommel, 2017) MILD T&A Pass the Popcorn
I've really got to hand it to Mary Whitehouse and the UK's Video Recordings Act of 1984. With the "Video Nasties", they have created a list of what would likely have become utterly dismissed or forgotten gore flicks and turned them into the cult horror lover's essential viewing. I've yet to watch something on the official list or the Section 3 titles that I haven't had fun with. The Boogey Man could be one of the most overlooked slashers of the early eighties. It clearly has strong influence from a mix of other genre hits (that homestead was so Amityville Horror). Kills were lurid and imaginative, efficaciously blending supernatural horror with childhood trauma. 8.3/10

April 26
46. Purgatory (Ami Artzil, 1988) MILD T&A Cinemageddon
Hard to complain about a women-in-prison flick that features Tanya Roberts in her prime. It arrives on the heels of Chained Heat, and the warden here has similar plans for his overheated and undernourished inmates. They're dressed up and pimped out to a local brothel, because this prison mixes capitalism with rehabilitation. He's got a shower/hot tub and a fully stocked bar in his bedroom where he likes to spend extra quality time with the girls. Bit more melodrama than all-out sleaze, but there's an appropriate amount of degrading nonsense and action for us exploitation purists. 5.6/10

April 27
47. Speed Zone (Jim Drake, 1989) NO T&A Cinemageddon
This disowned stepchild of The Cannonball Run movies, with only the Sheik returning from the original cast for a brief and moronic cameo. It looks like they shot everything primarily in Canada during the late fall; the double-lane roadways are barren and it's consistently overcast and raining. No Captain Chaos this time, so it's about as funny as a Smothers Brothers routine. 4.4/10
48. Blindman (Ferdinando Baldi, 1971) HOT T&A Pass the Popcorn
Happy trails! Ferdinando Baldi's daringly funny spaghetti western is so damn good that I'm beyond excited to check out the remainder of his pulpy filmography. Same goes for Tony Anthony whose amoral quips and rugged charms are a perfect fit for a genre ruled by sometimes humorless antiheroes. This is a Westworld without safe spaces, where men are men and whores are plentiful. These mail order babes don't get much respect, but they're also not afraid to get down and dirty in order to save their beautiful, blessed hides (that's a Seven Brides for Seven Brothers reference, in case you're not a fan of western musicals). Having read a few reviews, I'm now in the camp that wonders if I saw the full uncut totally non-pc version. If not, I'll have to take this ride again someday. 9.7/10

April 28
49. American Commando Ninja (Lo Gio, 1987) NO T&A Cinemageddon
That blatant title is somehow perfect for this shot-on-video debacle from the golden era of home entertainment. Every single fight sequence is superior to the boring crap in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Those ninja costumes aren't the most form-fitting, but they're no match for the garish pastels that most of the cast adorns. Wasn't surprised to see Godfrey Ho's name almost subliminally flash by in the credits. Methinks he opted for a directing pseudonym this time, as it sure looks like his handiwork from first snap zoom to last jump-cut. 5.3/10
50. Inferno (John G. Avildsen, 1999) MILD T&A Pass the Popcorn
Is this Van Damme's Fistful of Dollars or is it his Death Wish 3? I was genuinely happy to be reminded of both. A stranger arrives in a desperate desert town that needs saving from overwhelming corruption. John Avildsen might seem like an unusual choice to direct a JCVD flick, but he brings a sense of professionalism to the casting choices. The colorful supporting characters include skilled comic relief and bad-to-bone heavies; some played by faces we've lost in recent years like Pat Morita, Bill Erwin, Larry Drake and Vincent Schiavelli. Erwin's Ed stole the show for me, because my great uncle used to smoke in between puffs on his oxygen tank, which proves that shit really happens. While this ended up being dumped for the DTV market, it was clearly intended for the theatrical release. (Might have been released too close to Walter Hill's Last Man Standing, which is an even better update of Yojimbo, but was also a financial miss). It's certainly muddled in parts and there are a few different versions of this movie out there under alternate titles, Desert Heat and Coyote Moon. I would advise seeking out the uncut release for more of JCVD's three-way romp with a pair of southern Barbie dolls. 6.8/10

April 29
51. Cheech and Chong's Animated Movie (Branden Chambers-Eric D. Chambers, 2013) NO T&A Pass the Popcorn
When they go low, we get high. I indulged in some stoner animation for breakfast along with a trippy bowl of multicolored spring edition Rice Krispies. One thing my morning wasn't lacking in...color. Cheech and Chong work well in cartoon form and it's a good way to cheaply return them to their seventies heyday. Animated, they're like a "smarter" Beavis and Butthead. The style had a Ren and Stimpy vibe, similarly leaning toward cruder scatological humor. Favorite routine featured the duo sneaking some passengers into a drive-in cinema and forgetting they're in the trunk. The vintage skits become less funny and inventive as it nears the end. The filmmakers likely assume you've already rolled a few fat ones and are laughing at your own farts by that point. 6/10

April 30
52. National Lampoon's Spring Break (Various, 2007) MILD T&A DVD
Sometimes you need a real buzzkiller to finish yourself off, so I ended my 8th annual exploitation marathon with this "mondo movie" shot gonzo style at real spring breaks in 2005. Cashing in on the brief <i\>Girls Gone Wild and "unrated DVD" fads that we endured a decade ago; it's a nonstop circus of body shots and booty shakin'. Plastic Pam Anderson clone Nikki Ziering does her best with tacky one-liners, but she knows the real reasons she got the gig. If you were one of the three people who enjoyed The Real Cancun, then this bud's for you. 2.2/10

Re: 8th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation Challenge List Thread (April 1-30,2017)

Eighth Annual Drive-In / Exploitation Movie Challenge

*= first time viewing
blue= personal BluRay
black= personal DVD
green= streaming
orange= theatrical presentation
purple= borrowed or rented BD/DVD

March 31st
1. Assassin of Youth (a.k.a. The Marijuana Menace) (Elmer Clifton, 1937 / United States)
--- Joan, a young girl poised to inherit a great sum of money, is targeted by her malicious, drug dealing cousin. While not a good film, it's charmingly over-the-top.

April 1st
2. Sex Madness (Dwain Esper, 1938 / United States)*
--- Millicent, a young girl who wins a contest, goes to the big city and falls prey to hubris and prostitution. She contracts syphilis and falls prey to a disreputable doctor. The film falls prey to stock-footage-itis.
3. Hercules in the Haunted World (Ercole al centro della Terra) (Mario Bava, 1961 / Italy / English dub / AmazonPrime)*
--- Hercules has to get some stuff to go to Hades and then get some stuff to get back and save his girlfriend. Christopher Lee plays Lico, the villainous uncle who plans to take over the kingdom with the help of a hoard of vampire-zombies.

April 2nd
4. Pray for Death (Gordon Hessler, 1985 / United States)*
--- Sho Kosugi plays a ninja-businessman who moves his family to the United States and opens a restaurant. Unfortunately, they run foul of corrupt cops and the mob who think they have a stolen necklace. There's a bit with a conveniently placed chainsaw that had me laughing.
5. Rage of Honor (Gordon Hessler, 1987 / United States)*
--- Sho Kosugi plays a brilliant cop who quits the force to seek revenge on the drug baron who killed his partner. He goes to Argentina and encounters lots of drug exporting shenanigans, restless natives, and double-crosses.

April 3rd
6. LA Plays Itself (Fred Halsted, 1972 / United States)*
--- MOMA has apparently archived this stylistic gay porno from the 70s - it's that artistic. The director walks through the wilderness around L.A. and then has sex with a naked man he encounters. Then he meets up with a Texan, has a philosophizing conversation, and then brutalizes him.
7. The Lucifer Complex (Kenneth Hartford & David L. Hewitt, 1978 / United States / YouTube)*
--- Robert Vaughn plays a guy who finds out that a group of Nazis are replacing dignitaries with fascist clones in order to control the world. There's a weird framing story about a survivor of an apocalypse watching the movie and stock footage in the future. It's super weird.
8. Invincible Shaolin (Nan Shao Lin yu bei Shao Lin) (Cheh Chang, 1978 / Hong Kong / Netflix)*
--- Conniving generals murder three Shaolin teachers and blame another school in the hopes that both groups destroy each other through infighting. There's lots of martial arts goodness and toned torsos on display as well as a very fun training montage that involves eggs and flowers.

April 4th
9. The Pace That Kills (a.k.a. The Cocaine Fiends) (Norton S. Parker & William O'Connor, 1935 / United States)*

April 5th

Re: 8th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation Challenge List Thread (April 1-30,2017)

April 1

1. The Curious Dr. Humpp (1969) FTV. Watched on DVD from Something Weird Video. A mad scientist kidnaps horny couples and takes them to his lab where he can extract their libidos, which gives him eternal life. A decent sexploitation. 5/10.

2. 10 Tigers Of Shaolin (1979) FTV. Seen on DVD. Average kung fu fare with terrible dubbing. 5.5/10.

3. Hanzo The Razor: Who's Got The Gold? (1974). FTV. Watched on DVR. The third Hanzo flick which is also the weakest in the series but still entertaining. 6/10.

4. Heroines Of S.W.O.R.D. (2014) FTV. Watched on DVD. Busty superheroes lose their powers, then get beat up. Dumb fetish flick with tons of tits. 3/10.

April 2

5. The Weapon, The Hour, The Motive (1972) FTV. Seen on DVR. A fairly decent Giallo that even has naked nuns whipping themselves. 6/10.

6. Legend Of The Devil (1996) FTV. Seen on DVD. Mediocre ninja swordplay. 5/10.

7. Blood And Lace (1971) FTV. Seen on Blu-ray. Murder and mayhem in an orphanage. 5/10.

8. The Virgins (1973) FTV. Shaw Brothers sexploitation flick. 5.5/10.

9. The Fighting Of Shaolin Monks (1976) FTV. Watched on DVD. Very poor quality print took away the full effect. 4/10.

April 3

10. The Cycle Savages (1969) FTV. Seen on DVD. Bruce Dern leads the pack in this average biker flick. 5/10.

11. Breaking Point (1975) FTV. Watched on DVR. Bo Arne Vibenius the man who gave us Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1973),

keeps up the depravity for this film as well. 6/10.

12. Ogroff: Mad Mutilator (1983) FTV. Watched on VHS. A low budget slasher flick with Howard Vernon showing up near the end. 4/10.
