January Comic Book Sales

I saw this and felt like sharing it. It's Diamond's comic book sales to shops for the month. Keep in mind this month had Marvel overshipping their books by 10%. DC is expected to do even better in February than these numbers.

The entire comic book industry's revenue for 2016? Somewhere around $600 million in the United States.

Is this good, bad, amazing? Sorry I may be missing the context here, besides the fact that milking the same people by double shipping books is working and we'll see more of it.

Why was US Avengers #1 so big? Is that a popular title? Is it simply because there were over 50 different covers for it?

Bingo, Marvel gave it tons of variant covers. Wait for the number because it sounds ridiculous - 54 different variants of the same issue.

Marvel's sales have largely cratered as they've gone further and further down the rabbit hole. They are planning their own version of Rebirth with a return to their legacy characters.

The number I read somewhere was a bit more than that. Of course I can't find mention of anything over 54 on the web at the moment. I personally bought my state cover, and I guess a lot of people probably did that as well.
