Amazon Links in threads no longer working

When clicking a link to Amazon within any thread creates a URL that is unresolvable for Amazon.

example: http://www.amazon.com/Pilot/dp/B01D0MDRMW/

used to become: http://www.amazon.com/Pilot/dp/B01D0...=nosim/dvdtalk

but now becomes:http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...%26amp%3BlibId...

which resolves to: http://cdn.viglink.com/api/http%3A%2...osim%2Fdvdtalk

Re: Amazon Links in threads no longer working

I noticed a couple days ago that Amazon links are disappearing. I'm using the latest Firefox browser.

Here's one. Let me know if it shows up:

Turn off AdBlocker. As part of a recent update, AdBlocker by default rejects any Amazon affiliate link. (Plus...y'know, support DVD Talk!) You can also disable that specific AdBlocker filter:

Code:
##a[href^="http://www.amazon."][href*="/obidos/ASIN/"]

Re: Amazon Links in threads no longer working

I disabled Adblock Plus and it works. It seems like other users can see the link even if the user who posted it cannot.

I entered the web link. No problems. Did you disable your ad blocker?

Re: Amazon Links in threads no longer working

Yes I did and I was able to see my link. I posted a thread at the Pale Moon forum about this issue, we'll see if anybody there can resolve it.

Re: Amazon Links in threads no longer working

Actually, it was in the Easy List filterset within AdBlock Latitude (more than likely the same as AdBlock Plus), a rule had to be excluded/unchecked. I posted the issue in the East List forum, haven't received a response yet.

The rule is:

distrowatch.com,dvdtalk.com,soundtrackcollector.com##a[href^="http://www.amazon."][href*="/obidos/ASIN/"]

in case anyone else has the same issue with Firefox/Pale Moon.

That worked until a day or so back (not exactly sure as I only have the issue on review pages and haven't looked at any for a few days). I also tried kd5's filter uncheck. Neither work now for the reviews pages. I also just "upgraded" to FF v47.0 yesterday as well. It could be a combo of the two.

**EDIT**
I found and disabled this:
##div[id^="div-gpt-ad"]
which is a Easylist block apparently tied to Amazon. That seems to have allowed Amazon links in the reviews to work and display properly.

**EDIT #2**
It *may* be related to the FF version as well. I have *zero* issues on my work system but FF on it is at v44.0. I may do a test "upgrade" later just to see (it's the portable version and easy to backup/undo crappy upgrade versions).
