Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

So far, I like Myriad Colors Phantom World. The first episode was really fun. I always enjoy KyoAni shows.

It was good to see GATE again. That was one of my favorite shows last year. So I'll definitely watch that.

And I haven't seen the new episode yet for Snow White with the Red Hair, but that's another one of my favorites from last year. I'll be watching that too.

I gave Luck & Logic a shot, but it was a mess. I read a review that said "It's written by someone who doesn't understand what words mean". That's pretty accurate.

I'm really looking forward to Erased, Dimension W and Dagashi Kashi.

I saw Erased few days ago and seems interested.

I will have to look through what to see this winter. I know I will be watching Ace of the Diamonds, Haikyu!!, and GATE.

Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

I'm definitely in for the third arc of DURARARA!! x2.

I may give Dimension W a shot, but I am not crazy about the director's previous efforts (Nanana's Buried Treasure, Saekano).

Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

I'm going to give Ajin, Dimension W, Divine Gate, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, and PSO2 ~ The Animation a chance.

I'll definitely be watching Durarara!!x2 Ketsu and GATE though.

FUNimation will be Broadcast Dubbing Dimension W, Divine Gate, and Grimgar so I'll hold off on them to check it out. Aniplex will likely be Simulcasting the dub of Durarara!!x2 Ketsu seeing how they've done so with both Shou and Ten, however I haven't seen an announcement for it.

That leaves on Ajin, GATE, and PSO2 not being Simulcast with dubs this season. They've really picked up their game this season with the amount of dub picks they're doing.

That does sound like a lot of fun.

I've been knocked out by Erased through its first four episodes. This is an idea executed perfectly and has been engrossing so far. The last time I got this feeling from an anime was Steins;Gate and that ended up being an all-time classic.

Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

I guess I need to start on Konosuba and/or Erased, both of which are already in my queue. The only others I am watching at the moment are DURARARA!! and Active Raid, and there is nothing memorable about the latter so far.

Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

Dimension W has been very interesting through its first five episodes. It feels like a very ambitious series with an ultimate destination in mind.

I imagine the two lead characters will become very popular.

It kinda reminds me of Cowboy Bebop. But without the cool soundtrack.

Interestingly enough, Funimation is on Dimension W's production committee.

Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

I'm not too keen on how DURARARA!! x2 is wrapping up, particularly with Ryuugamine. They haven't spent anywhere near enough time (re)developing his character this entire series, which becomes painfully obvious in the penultimate episode. We'll see what the final episode brings.

Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

I finished up Erased and Dimension W. Both finished mostly how I expected.

I'll admit I was a little disappointed in Erased's ending, it didn't blow me away like I was hoping. It's still a series I highly recommend but I'm not sure it will go down as a classic.

...and it limps to a finish, while leaving the door open for the possibility of x3.

The first two episodes of Konosuba have not exactly grabbed me, but I have no plans to give up on it based on the reviews here and elsewhere.

I'll agree that the "final showdown" was a little weak, but I thought the scenes during and after the final credits were wonderful. The show is firmly at the top of my "best of" list for 2016 so far.

I also finished Konosuba, which was merely okay.

Re: 2016 Winter Simulcasts

Anyone finish up Dagashi Kashi? I want to like the show but at times it feels like an advertisement for various snacks. Having only seen a couple of episodes, I wonder if the characters actually receive more development?

I stopped watching after the first 3-4 episodes. I felt the same way. I was really expecting to enjoy the show. But they just talked about snacks for 20 minutes. I like Japanese snack food, so I might pick it up again sometime later out of curiosity.

It unfortunately goes downhill from there. I loved the first half of the series, but the second half was a mess.
