Headphones suggestion for wife?
I posted this in the sticky, but I think that thread is dead:
Can someone suggest headphones for my wife? For use with doing her podcasts and just listening to music.
No crazy Beats by Dre stuff, but the iPhone pack-in earbuds are just useless, so something mid-range.
thanks

Re: Headphones suggestion for wife?
Which shape? And does "crazy Beats" mean $200 is too expensive? Or that you just don't like Beats?
Apple's current earbuds are actually pretty decent for sound, considering they are about $12 each on Groupon. If she finds their audio weak, it won't be real cheap to upgrade the quality level.

We both hate the Apple ear buds, both the form factor and sound quality, so pretty much anything should be better.

Anything Sennheiser. This pair is my favorite, although it is somewhat bulky.

A nice pair of Shure earbuds if she wants noise-isolating in-ear phones. They come with different-sized tips for a custom fit. I have the ones I linked to and love them.
Grado SR-60s are very nice if she wants over-the-ear. They'll leak a big of sound, though, because they aren't sealed.
And Sennheiser are a good choice as well.

My favorites:
For at home listening Shure SRH840, fantastic sound quality, comfortable, closed back so no one else can hear, I paid $120 on sale several years ago:
http://www.amazon.com/Shure-SRH840-P...HSXZ5VS6NN7YZ8
For on the road regular use throw in my packet or bag Xiaomi Piston II, cheap with better sound than apple earbuds, some isolation, built in mic so can use phone as needed $20-$25:
http://www.amazon.com/Xiaomi-Piston-...xiamo+piston+2
For airplane use, maximum sound suppression, fantastic sound quality, with custom ear inserts, Westone UM2's, think they may be discontinued. $250
Others that I have that I love but don't use regularly, Yuin PK2 great sound, comfy, but no isolation, $50-60
http://www.amazon.com/YUIN-Yuin-Pk2-...words=yuin+pk2
Sennheiser HD598, comfortable, open back so everyone can hear clearly what you are listening to, $150:
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-...ser+headphones
So it really comes down to what you want for what situation and how much you want to spend. Also personal preference matters a lot. Out of everything I have owned/tried I really love my Shure headphones the most. I have also tried and loved the Yuin PK-1's but just didn't use them enough to justify the cost. My Westone's were the biggest splurge and have been fantastic but I just don't pull them out very often, just when flying.

For the smaller 80s style on-the-ear, the Sennheiser PX series are simply the best:

Re: Headphones suggestion for wife?
I agree with everybody in regards to the Sennheiser. I got mine on black friday sometime back for a great deal and the headphones are great. The model I have is the Sennheiser HDR 180. Highly recommended.

Re: Headphones suggestion for wife?
Headphone/earbud question: are there any that have the option of muting the sound for one ear (and/or channelling both left & right sound into one ear)..?
i.e. if I want to wear headphones, but want to leave one ear open to extraneous noise, is that an option (barring just using one earbud)?

Re: Headphones suggestion for wife?
You should ask from your wife first may be she has already selected headphones and want you t0 buy. Otherwise headphones companies have not yet manufacturing separate headphones for female.
