That's a long way from an official announced though. He's been dancing around the idea for years and knows the door is always open for more Curb.

I honestly thought the series might be done so the prospect of Larry David even having ideas for a new season has me excited. Hopefully something actually develops.

David said at one point he didn't want to get into a situation (like with the maligned Seinfeld finale) where the show would end on a bad note with a poor series finale.
But I don't think this show ever needs a tidy wrap up. It should just end at some point.
If we can get 10 seasons, I'd be very happy with that.

I figured it would come back at some point, but didn't think it would take most likely 5 years before a new season.

I wonder how much of his notebook ended up in the script for Clear History.

Didn't he learn anything from George? Leave on a high note, and the New York season was definitely a high note.

I'm never for great shows stretching themselves out with more seasons, but I think LD could pull it off especially taking a few years off. He probably has a load of ideas for that reason alone, so I think we could get a pretty good season from him. Plus the show was rejuvinated when he worked his divorce in, as it opened up so many possibilities with a single Larry.
It's been so long, was the last episode with Michael J Fox living on top of him? If so, it feels like an eternity since the show has been on!
And he better bring back Leon!

This show could go on forever as far as I'm concerned. I don't mind talking years off in between stretches.

^ Agreed. As long as Larry still has ideas brewing and wants to do more, I say keep'em coming.

I also agree. The nature of the show makes it somewhat timeless. Larry is the common thread the show flows through, but the nature of his character allows others to flow in and out of his "life" as necessary. Guest stars can roll into a season, play a caricature of themselves, and fade back out and it all makes sense and keeps things fresh. An example is what they did with Michael J Fox. He came in and was hilarious and can now disappear without it seeming odd. Plus they can pop back up randomly for hilarious call-backs for seasons to come.

Pretty, pretty, pretty good news for Curb Your Enthusiasm fans.
During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show this week, actor J.B. Smoove, who plays Leon on the HBO comedy series, said he spoke to Larry David about the possibility of a ninth season – and David didn’t say no.
“I called Larry, like, two weeks ago and I said, ‘Hey, Larry man.’ I just talk about regular stuff with him. It’s not always Curb stuff. But this time – aha! This time, he brings up Curb Your Enthusiasm. I don’t ever bring it up. He brought it up this time.”
Smoove added David said he was “thinking about coming back.”
“If Larry does not say no, there’s a possibility he’s going to say yes,” Smoove said.
Smoove is the latest actor to comment on Curb. Last year, costar Jeff Garlin said he thought there was a “51 percent” chance the show could return.
Curb Your Enthusiasm debuted as a series on HBO in 2000; the final episode of season 8 aired Sept. 11, 2011.
