Bloodstained: RotN (Steam, PS4, XB1, Switch: 2019)

Seems the one time producer of the Castlevania series (Koji Igarashi) is ready to make a new game. I stumbled upon this news from a YouTube video here...

Wanting to learn a bit more I found out that Igarashi had a flyer circulating PAX that held a hidden message.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm pretty excited! I did love what Mercurysteam did with Castlevania, but I miss what was done with older Castlevania titles. I know legally IGA cannot call his new game Castlevania, much like Inafune can't call Mighty No 9 Mega Man. With Konami folding in on itself, kickstarter may be the only way we get a new Castlevania.

Hope this is true, I miss the old Castlevania/Metroidvania titles which were solid through the DS days. Bloodborne is the best 3D Castlevania I've played but it still isn't actually Castlevania.

Insane that this needed crowdfuning. I'm thinking of going for the $60 physical copy package...

I'm not a big enough fan of these games to spend $28 to back this, but it does look really good and pretty. I'd probably buy a digital version in the $10-15 range though if the reviews are good.

I'm thinking about the $100 level (it's a shame you can't just add a shirt for $20 or something...I'm not going to the $250 level) and I don't even have a XB1 yet. Though I would imagine that by the time this sucker came out, I would.

The only reason I haven't is that outside of the two Shadowrun games I've helped to fund, I feel kinda burned by Kickstarter on a whole...not their fault. But when a game takes 2 to 3 years and the updates feel shallow at best, you forget about it.

UPDATE!

At 3 million the game will get a Wii U version, as of this post the game has been funded 2,860,371 with 14 days to go. Very close, a Wii U version would be pretty amazing.

WTF is up w/ Japan's game companies losing these amazing creators lately? Inafune is away from Capcom, Iga and Kojima (appears like it) are away from Konami, etc.

The Japanese gaming market is shifting to handhelds again, or so I hear, and these great game makers are being ousted in favor of quick fixes that pay better. I think there is a scientific term for it... Short-sightedness?

This video was taken down because Konami demanded it....but YouTube said no.

Koji Igarashi had something to say about it too...

Won't it be cut down some though? They weren't even going to do a Wii U version because they said they would have to treat it like a separate game.

Not sure why, the assets will have already been created for the PS4 and Xbox One. Once the engine is ported over the rest shouldn't be a huge deal.

Trying to decide between digital and physical copies. Don't really think the physical edition is really worth twice as much, but then again, it would be pretty cool to own the first Kickstarter physical game produced.

That's the tier I'm at too, it doesn't help that I just found out today that one of the other Kickstarters (Shadowrun Online) I funded at the $100 plus level (and physical swag to boot), their sister company just went bankrupt (or something like that)...and I had a boxed copy & printed book coming. So that swag is probably never coming despite what they are saying. So needless to say despite the strong pedigree here is still making me a bit weary.

I'm guessing it's to give Nintendo Wii U owners something to look forward to, and seeing as how Iga's other Castlevania games were on Nintendo handhelds, it would be a homecoming of sorts. I posted about it on twitter and instagram that this an important moment for Wii U owners, as if this gets funded they get a new game for their library and it will (hopefully) show the guys in charge at Nintendo that they need games like this on their console.

WOOOOOOOOOO!!! 3 MILLION! Now if if it hits 3.2 mil they will add asynchronous online multiplayer, and if it goes beyond that with 3.5 mil they will make a PSVita port. Crazy!

Hell, the Vita might be discontinued by the time this game is released.

I don't even have a vita. What are the games worth buying the Vita for? The Uncharted game is the only thing I cared for. Dunno if it was good though. I think I remember reading it was.

The Persona games I heard are pretty awesome. I had a Vita but about the only things I ever played on it were PS1 classics, UMVC 3, and Street Fighter X Tekken
