Batman: The Complete TV Series ~ $95 shipped @ Amazon.de

Link

This seems to be the bare-bones version. So if you don't care about the swag, the Ultraviolet stuff, this might be for you (it was for me to save $60). Correct me if I'm mistaken, but otherwise the content itself should be exactly the same as the US release and won't be region locked.

Yes, the discs themselves will be identical to the American BDs.

Identical as in playable on any standard U.S. Reg.A BluRay player? I wish it was. I'm holding off springing the $179 for the U.S. one because I have no use for the bigass box, the car, and all the other crap that's bloating the price. I just want the BD's in compact packaging.
I ask because the link leads to an Amazon.de page showing a photo of a "Limited Edition BluRay Complete Television Series"...but the item description mentions "DVD" and "PAL" format (which makes me hesitate).

Of course I'm not 100% sure, but Amazon tends to label foreign BDs as PAL, even when the BDs themselves are region free.

Yes, the German BDs will play in North American BD players.

Isn't 50hz vs. 60hz also an issue? While some US players can process 50hz Blu-rays, like Blu-rays from the UK, other US players cannot without modification.

Are German Blu-rays 50hz or 60hz?

I can't say much further than to assure you once again the German set will 100% play on all North American players. If you don't believe me, feel free to spend $60 more for the American set.

Might end up going this route. I wouldn't mind having the extra stuff from the US box set but I don't need it so badly that its worth the extra price. As long as the discs all work properly this is a damn good deal.

Does anyone know if it has German stuff on it? The descriptions on the packaging, or anything on the actual discs or disc menus? I know its an official product but my brother is picky and won't like it as a Christmas gift if it looks 'foreign'.

If you go to youtube and type Batman Spot 1 Deutsch HD German
you'll see a video for the Blu-Ray release and it's in the ...

German language.

The booklet might be in German. There is now a cheaper Italian set than this German edition.

Tempting.

I think I'm still gonna hold out for a sub $100 price on the U.S. barebones version out December 16.

Amazon.it preorder brings the set to about $68USD, but it released 1/25. I think I'll see what the US bare-bones set winds up at during the holiday season before pulling the trigger on the Italian set.

Re: Batman: The Complete TV Series ~ $95 shipped @ Amazon.de

I got the German one for my brother for Christmas and he said he understood why but he wants the one with the car.

Is that Hot Wheels car available separately? I see a lot of Batman batmobile cars from Hot Wheels and some are really cheap and one is almost 70 dollars on Amazon. Can anyone point me to the exact one in the blu-ray box, if it' available?

It's not available outside of that stupid set.

I went on Ebay. If you type HW CITY BATMOBILE TV , it shows a 2014 car that looks to me like the one in the box. Am I wrong? What's the difference?

Never mind. I see that the hubcaps are styled differently, but give me a break. Seems that Warner is profiting a hundred bucks a piece off of a trading cards and hot wheels gimmick.

I believe that Batmobile is the 1:50 scale version that was available for years before the Batman set. Not sure if it's still in circulation, which probably explains the exorbitant prices (and it will inevitably come back at some point), but if you search "Hot Wheels 66 Batmobile 1:50" perhaps a cheap one will surface eventually?

It's a cool Hot Wheels toy but I wouldn't pay more than $10 or $15 for it. I will sell you mine for $55.

Does this new version contain the Ultraviolet code?

Yep, WB wants you to fork over the cash for the big set if you want the UV code for it.

Amazon Italy has set for EUR 19,99 or EUR 16,39 after VAT removal. Shipping to the US is very high at EUR 13,81. Still under $33.19 shipped to USA

Re: Batman: The Complete TV Series ~ $95 shipped @ Amazon.de

This is more a "tech support" question, but I figure it's worth a try. I bought the Italian BD set last year but noticed that season 2, disk 5 is not recognizable by my PC's Blu-Ray drive. The laser stepper motor grinds continually as it tries to read the disk label, etc. The drive recognizes every other disk in the set, and S2 D5 plays normally in my home theater's Blu-Ray player. I assume it's just a weird firmware bug, but if anybody has a European Batman (I believe the disks are all the same) and a PC BD drive, would you mind giving this combination a try? Keep in mind, I'm not actually trying to play the disk, just get the drive and the OS to recognize it. BTW, the drive is a Lite-On with the latest firmware. Thanks.
